Kevin Millwood's weight problem

Millwood Ready To Go

So Kevin Millwood has come out again this offseason and said that he has lost 12 pounds and is going to be in shape again for this next season...blah,blah,blah. Hasn't he done this the past 2 or 3 seasons? Last year, he supposedly was in terrific shape after kickboxing all winter, and yet, he still spent time on the disabled list...twice

So I was thinking about it, and if Kevin Millwood keeps losing weight every offseason, that has to mean he is gaining weight during the season, right? I mean, I like Kevin, but if you just look at him in the season when he's pitching, honestly sometimes he does look like he has a little bit of a beer belly. All I'm saying is I'm tired of hearing from our Ace how he's fit to go for the season and yet, once again, we'll see him on the DL come May or June. What do you think about this whole situation?

Texas Rangers Wiki

Hi everyone. Hope you're having a good start to your offseason. I've started a small project and I was curious if anyone around here would be interested in helping out with it. I started a small Rangers wiki around July, but I'm just now getting around to finishing up the homepage and I am just now starting to write small articles. I was wondering if anyone around here would be interested in helping writeup articles for the wiki.

I thought this would be a neat idea considering the braintrust of Rangers fans out there. A lot of fans have some good knowledge about the history of this team and I thought that a wiki would be pretty cool, so that if someone wanted to know about Chris Magruder's time with the Rangers, all they would have to do is go to the wiki and find information there that they probably wouldn't find anywhere else.

The website is texasrangers.wikia.com

Hi everyone. I was looking around wikia the other day at one of the Wikis when I began to wonder - is there a wiki for the Rangers? I looked around for a little bit and I realized that the Rangers did not have a wiki available to them. Matter of fact, there aren't many teams that have an active wiki, from what I saw browsing through the pages. I thought it would be pretty neat to create a database like a wiki for people to go and check out information.

Now you may say, well this is superfluous when we can just get information from LSB, Jamey, or Rangerfans.com, but it was just an idea that came to my mind. The three guys that run these sites do a great job of updating, but I thought it would be neat to have a Rangers wiki.

If you're interested, I need your help. Creating the pages will take some time and be tedious - I've made one for Josh Hamilton already and I have linked it on the front page - but by visiting the site, you will see that there is much work that will be needed. I was going to see if anyone would be interested in adding to the wiki, or even visiting it in general. I know at first it would seem a little thin, but I think after a couple of months of people adding to it, it could become a pretty effective database.

Like I said, I think the one thing that hurts the idea is the fact that it may seem superfluous to a lot of common posters on this website that feel they have all the information they need already from the other sites, but I just thought this might be an interesting idea to bring up, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested...

Mark Connor, Dom Chiti, and Pitching Injuries

I know there's already a Mark Connor fanpost today, and I'm sure one Connor post a day is enough, but I have a couple of questions that I was hoping someone could help me answer.

I know that the Rangers have had pitching injuries that have really kept this staff from producing, but for the last couple of years, I personally feel we haven't seen anything truly successful come from our pitching staff. Injuries and inconsistencies, I feel, have been the number one problem for our pitching staff.

How much of our pitchers' struggles can be accounted to coaches Mark Connor and Dom Chiti? Defendants of the coaches will argue that the Rangers have little to work with, but I feel otherwise. I think we've got several pitchers on this staff that consistently underperform or are inconsistent, such as McCarthy, Gabbard, Benoit, Francisco, Wilson, and the list could continue based on your personal opinion.

I just want to know how much of an impact that Connor and Chiti can really have on the pitchers we have. Also, I'd like to really know how much of an impact a bullpen coach can really have on a team. We never hear about Dom Chiti or the impact he has on the bullpen's success. I was curious as to what exactly he's doing to help our bullpen's ERA?

Because I'm lazy and I haven't had the time to look it up, how much longer does Connor and Chiti have on contract? When their time runs up (if it runs up), will Washington find a new coaching staff...remember, these are the guys from the Showalter era.

And finally, how much of an impact does the pitching coach have on minor league staffs? I was wondering if Connor or Chiti are in control of the use of certain pitchers from the minor leagues, or if it is a front-office decision based on who does what in the minor league pitching staffs.
