Deolis Guerra
Does anyone have any reports on Deolis Guerra so far? After three starts this season he has 0 BB and 12Ks in 18 innings. I guess I am wondering what the velocity on fastball has been like in his starts? The walks have been a huge issue for him in previous seasons and it's great to see 0 in the BB column. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the still young righty.
Did the Twins pay too much for Pavano?
If Pavano's case went to arbitration, would he have gotten $7 million? He did pitch well for the Twins and finish the season with a 14-12 combined record and a 5.10 ERA. Now, those two numbers didn't show how well he pitch last season as he had a FIP of 4.00, which we all now is a better indication of a pitcher's success. I'm of the belief that an arbitor wouldn't look at his FIP and pay more attention to his ERA and his W-L. Neither jump off the page. Also, to be a little nit-picky he failed to reach 200 innings.
So, what does everyone think Pavano would have gotten if he went to arbitration? Would be have gotten $7 million? Does he deserve a $5+ million raise?
Q&A with Aaron Hicks
I did a phone interview with Aaron Hicks this afternoon. Check it out here:
www.mnsportstalk.com
One thing I noticed from talking with him is that he seems to be kind of the quiet type. He mentioned a lot about team, which is always important. To me this shows he is mature on the field and off, something you don't see with younger players. Hopefully I will be having another one soon. Mack sure you check back.

Shooter Hunt
Shooter finally gave up his first ER tonight but only gave up 2 hits 0 BB and 12 SO's in 6 innings. Well he is still in the Twins Rookie League -E-Town- and should be called up soon to Class A Fort Myers or at least LowA Beloit. I guess what I would like to know is what pitches does he through and what is the velocity of his fastball?
The Twins got a steal with him being the 31st pick of the draft.
