My dude Rasheed Malek over at Warriorsworld.net recently conducted a lengthy interview with Jim Barnett. Definitely worth a watch, as Jim details some interesting stories from his playing days.

Parts 1 & 2 are up now, with more to come soon.

NBA 2K10 custom arena sounds - Warriors need assistance

NBA 2K10 Custom Arena Music - Golden State Warriors [V.1]

This year's edition of 2K basketball features custom arena sounds, ranging from team events to player songs (after they score). It's an amazing new idea that will improve the environment of games by a huge margin. Other guys are starting to assemble their tracks for their teams, and I've gotten started for the Warriors.

Right now, I've consulted with a few people and have 4 players matched with songs. These are seemingly good choices but I'm certainly up for suggestions. However, my first objective is to complete the roster completely and then we can move onto the timeout, intro, etc. music.

The game drops October 6th so ideally we can get this done by then and share it with other 2K10 fans so the Warriors are adequately represented and Oracle is a unique experience in the game.

Given that the Warriors really don't have any official music, it's up to us what we choose so let's hear it!

Much appreciated GSOM.

EDIT: Here is every category needed to be filled.

PLAYER TRACKS AFTER SCORE

M. Ellis - "One Man Show" by Finale
S. Curry - "Stuntin' Like My Daddy" by Birdman & Lil' Wayne
S. Jackson - "It's Ok" by Mistah F.A.B.
A. Randolph - "Superstars" by Ya Boy

TEAM / ARENA TRACKS DURING SITUATION

Tipoff - "From Da Bay" by Sky Balla feat. E-40; "Holla at Ya Boy (Golden State Warriors Remix)" by Ya Boy; "The Bay (Hyphy Remix) by Zion I

Long - "I Got 5 On It (Instrumental)" by Luniz; "Move (Instrumental)" by Cunninlynguists; "It Feels Good (Instrumental)" by Blood Raw

Home Up Court - "Clap Your Hands" by J Dilla

Away Up Court -

Chant Defense -

Chant Team - "Let's Go Team!" by The Team

Highlight -

Halftime -

Player of the Game -

Replay - "I Told Y'all" by J Dilla

I recently authored a new blog post that comprehensively compares Stack Jack to two other players who I feel are currently on the same level in terms of play, but not in reputation.

http://ajbry.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/illuminating-my-stephen-jackson-comparisons/

I'm not asking for you to engage in this discussion so I can persuade everyone to think the way I do. But I do feel that there's some very pertinent information within the piece that will alter your viewpoint of a very important player for our team...

Here's an excerpt that illustrates the comparison:

Let’s get into actual scoring situations now. A key component of a swingman’s offensive game – particularly a top option – is manufacturing their own opportunities from isolation sets. Based on the work of Doug Thonus (and the subject of one of my earlier posts), we can examine how successful certain players are in one-on-one situations. Interestingly enough, our trio produces extraordinarily similar results: Jackson and Carter rank in the 73rd percentile, Johnson in the 72nd. However, Johnson (30.66% of the time) utilizes isolation more than either Jackson (27.55%) or Carter (20.45%). Either way, it’s safe to assume that all three are quite capable at creating their own offense – a necessary component in a primary option’s repetoire.

What does GSOM think? Is my logic fair or the rantings of someone who loves defending their favorite player?

Thanks for checking it out!

Somehow this doesn't seem to be making the rounds, but the NBA gave Jack the Community Assist Award for March...

http://www.nba.com/news/community_award_080403.html

Unfortunately, it's probably difficult to feel excited considering the playoff woes, but it's still good to see Steve get some recognition for all the recent contributions he's made to help out a vast array of people.

Major props to him for stepping up big this year and really dedicating himself to further the causes he feels passionately about. I'm having difficulties recalling any other NBA players in recent memory whom have done so much community work within the span of one season.
