Cincy Jungle Marvin Lewis Met W/ Brad Childress Yesterday

Nfl_uso_tour_300_medium

via a.espncdn.com

Marvin Lewis met with Brad Childress at Ruby's in Cincinnati hours after voicing his opinion on the current state of the Bengals. The inital report came rom 700 WLW radio and then the official article was posted here. I was actually excited to hear this and was wondering why i hasnt been posted here yet. Joe Reedy also noted that Childress is a long time friend of Mike Zimmer. I think this move would be great I'd take anyone but Brat. Childress was the Eagles QB coach from 1999-2003 for Donovan Mcnabb, He then was promoted to OC from 2004-2007, but Andy Reid called the plays. I think the addition of Childress's west coast run variation offense will be great for us. We also would get Chilly for the basically free being that he stil has 2 years left on his contract in Minny. Hope this was the news we were all hoping to hear. What are your thought on possibly having Brat replace Brat?

Cincy Jungle And It Has Begun.. Ocho To The Raiders Trade Rumors Swirl

Chad-ochocinco_medium

via www.appscout.com

Just as it has been reported that the Oakland Raiders could pursue Ochocinco  now with Hue Jackson as their head coach. As you know Hue Jackson was once a part of the Bengals staff as a WR coach and was reportedly choked out by Chad back in 05 against the Steelers. ProfootballTalk has reported the story here . The report came hours after Marvin Lewis threw Ocho under the bus with today's State Of the Bengals. Any thoughts? this could be legit, but what would we get for him in return? Are there any better options out there? What is Ocho's Value?

Cincy Jungle NFL Sunday Ticket To Go [WHO DEY NATION PLEASE HELP!]

Hello fellow Bengals fans,

As you know we are all pumped for the upcoming season, This past year me and my buddies in Tallahassee, FL have been going to Steelers fan-filled BW3's to watch the Bengals. This year we are hoping to watch them at home and on a TV  that we can actually see. We have been trying to find ways to watch them without going through BW3's. We were going to purchase NFL Sunday Ticket on Direct TV and cancel it after the football season. We came across a problem being that after you cancel Direct TV you are stuck with paying 20$ for every month canceled.

In order to sign up for the package you have to agree to a 2 year deal. So after doing the math it became illogical to purchase NFL Sunday Ticket. We came across another option which is NFL Sunday Ticket To Go, We are looking for someone who already has NFL Sunday Ticket and would be willing ( for a price of course) to allow us to purchase the To Go portion in exchange for cash and log in information. Anyone who would be willing to help us would be greatly appreciated. I can be contacted on here or my email ak21513@gmail.com

Thanks

Cincy Jungle Even After Pacman And Wilson Are There Still Holes Left To Be Filled?

Although a lot of our pressing needs have been filled through the draft and free agency, there are still some holes needed to be filled for the Bengals to make a Superbowl run. I begin to think of the free agents still left out there on the market and there are STILL some quality guys out there who could come extremely cheap and could fill some needs and get the job done. There are former Pro Bowl quality guys ike T.O., Brian Westbrook, Kevin Mawae, Keith Bulluck and John Henderson just to name a few. With our secondary depth  already being addressed with the signings of Pacman and Wilson there are other areas to  be concentrated on:
Thesnark_19352_11693_medium

1. Running Back: When I look at our running back position  we need a backup RB that can take the hits but also be able to be a feature back. Obviously the strongest candidate for backup would be Brian Westbrook, with his ability to be yet another dangerous weapon for Carson. The only thing against  Westbrook is his durability and he suffered two major concussions last year that forced him to  consider retirement. The way I see it is that we already have some stable solid running backs with Bernard Scott & Leonard why not sign Westbrook for minimum and see what he has left? I think we should bring him in for a workout because he is a all around back who basically is a better faster version of Brian Leonard and could match Benson's production. Westbrook is easily the best available runig back right now. There are guys out there like Deshawy Wynn and Kevin Jones but neither of these guys have the track record to match Westbrook. I also keep an eye on the Seahawks it looks like maybe Julius Jones and Justin Forsett could both be on their way out. My top 3 guys I would feel the most comfortable with would be either Westbrook , Justin Forsett and Julius Jones. Either way we need a LJ replacement.

Marc_bulger_medium

2. Backup QB During the draft I was pulling for Tony Pike or Dan LaFevour to get picked in the 5th, but that didn’t happen. We need a respectable backup QB that can come in when Palmer is hurt and still be able to run our offense effectively. With this roster we can't afford to let this team go to waste if Carson goes down. Names that come to mind are Marc Bulger, & Jeff Garcia both guys have been proven in this league. Although I would hate to see it, knowing Mike Brown I wouldn't be surprised to see Jamarcus "Lethargy Addicted" Russell being brought in for a tryout.I mean he did try to sign Vick right? If it were up to me I’d rather have Bulger or Garcia both have proven track records. Either way we need a better backup than JTO.

Nugentjpg-c0b894fd893f5453_medium_medium

3.Kicker I was excited to see we singed  Nugent until I looked at his NFL stats bc they don’t even come close to his OSU stats. His last 2 seasons have been injury plagued, but If he is healthy again and he can get back on point, I will love this pickup. There are a still  few question marks surrounding this position and I just want someone who won’t SHANK GRAHAM a game deciding field goal. Any suggestions out there?

T1_pitts_medium

3.Guard You can never go wrong with getting more protection for Carson, we need to keep this guy on his feet plus Bobbie is 34, We addressed the Guard position a little too late and made a reach in the draft for Hudson. The guys we drafted appear to be project players, we need a veteran to backup Bobbie in order to protect Carson. I wouldn't mind us signing Chester Pitts to a 1 yr deal.

4.Tight End I know what your  thinking Tight End? WTF didn't we draft Gresham? First of all let me say this: I love Jermaine Gresham and I Love Chase Coffman, but I have a feeling we’re going to see a lot of Gresham Coats packages. I think there are a lot of  respectable veteran tight ends still out there such as LJ Smith. I think there are guys out there that could better compliment Gresham if Coffman flops again this year. I really don’t think this is a big deal, but I wouldn’t mind adding another TE to the mix. Plus apparently Coffman isn't taking his job seriously with him missing mini camp.
With all of that being said I'd like to hear some feedback or even some other suggestions/players I haven't listed. I'd like to see how major of a need that the holes have to be filled.

5.FullBack I don't know how I forgot to keep this on here being that I had writte an article last week about us needing to address this weakness. We do need more competition at this position and there are still soe great value guys out there at this position. The Bengals must be kicking themselves over letting the "Face Mask Crusher'" get signed by the Bucs

Cincy Jungle A Former Local High School Standout Is Our Answer At FB

340x_medium

The Tampa Bay Bucaneers recently cut B.J. Askew, For those who aren't familiar with Askew he is from Cincinnati and was a standout at Colerain high school WHere some say that Askew and Daryl Robinson could have been the arguably the best highschool backfield ever assembled. The only bad thing about the guys is that he went to Michigan in where according to WIkipedia,  ranks first all-time among Michigan running backs in reception yards. While at Michigan he was the lead blocker for Bengals former runnning back Chris Perry. BJ Askew is very versatile and according to Scout.com  Helped Buccaneers offense average 4.17 yards per rush, the second-highest average in team history. Finished season with 18 receptions for 175 yards (9.7 avg.) and four special teams tackles. B.J. is 6-3 233 And is only 29 years old, he brings more experience and provides the same versatility as Fui at the fullback position. He is even rated as being a better fullback than Naufau Tahi. Fullback is an obvious need for the Bengals that was not addressed in the draft so why not take the former 3rd round selection from Cincy? I like what this guy could bring to our team. With him being from Cincy I believe there is a good chance a workout could be scheduled soon. I really would like to see this guy in stripes.

In the video below Askew is # 34

Cincy Jungle Full Chat Interview W/ Marvin Lewis Via Cincinnati.com

11:47
Cincinnati.com:  Bengals coach Marvin Lewis will join us in about 15 minutes. Please feel free to start adding your questions. We will get to them in a first come, first serve basis. Thanks!
12:02
[Comment From campusleftovers.com]  How exciting is it to go into the draft with no desperate needs?
12:03
Marvin Lewis:  It keeps open a lot of possibilities. It really doesn't lock us into one or two positions. It allows us to take a long-term look at the player's career and who can add the most by the midpoint of next season
12:03
[Comment From Darryl]  Hello Coach, I was wondering how Reggie Kelly's injury is progressing and do you think he can be the same player after such an injury?
12:04
Marvin Lewis:  Reggie seems to have recovered from the Achilles injury. He is now as we know a free agent player. We've had the opportunity to work Reggie out and see if we can re-sign him
12:04
[Comment From Guest]  how much improvement has been made with Simpson?
12:04
Marvin Lewis:  At this point in the season we have not done any football by our rules. We're allowed so many off season on field work and that won't be allowed until next month
12:05
[Comment From Peter S.]  Coach, what are your thoughts on potentially taking a TE for a second consecutive year coming off of a big injury i.e. chase coffman last year and potentially jermaine gresham this year?
12:05
Marvin Lewis:  Ironically in the upcoming draft two of the better prospects are returning off of injury that they suffered. Those players and those injuries are under consideration.
12:06
[Comment From bengal guy]  Where is the Bengal War Room?
12:06
Marvin Lewis:  Paul Brown Stadium
12:06
[Comment From csmith]  Marvin will you look at the QB position at any point in this draft?
12:07
Marvin Lewis:  I believe in this year's draft that we will consider throughout the three days all the positions on the team based on the value of the player
12:08
[Comment From Guest]  Will Chase Coffman be ready in August to be a starter?
12:09
Marvin Lewis:  We were able to address some of Chase's related injuries last fall with surgery. He's done a good job in rehab last fall and this offseason. We're confident he can compete for a starting job in training camp.
12:09
[Comment From Guest]  How is the health of Peko, Odom, Tank? The DL depth could be crucial in the first half of the season if Odom needs a half-season to round into shape.
12:10
Marvin Lewis:  Domata has recovered well and is working hard in the offseason program. Tank seems to be back with rest 100 percent. Antwan seems to be on pace from his Achilles injury
12:10
[Comment From matt]  Coach, Congrats on making the playoffs last season. What do you think are the chances that we pick up Gilyard or Pike in this years draft?
12:10
[Comment From Chris C.]  Coach, how do you feel about your current depth? What positions do you think you have to shore up in this year's draft?
12:11
Marvin Lewis:  As we enter this preseason I feel good about where we are position wise. The draft will add depth and competition in every area. My goal is to get us into and out of training camp healthy so we have all hands on deck for the 2010 season.
12:11
[Comment From Guest]  what goes on when you bring in a player for a pre-draft visit
12:12
Marvin Lewis:  Depending on whether or not additional medical checks, opportunity to meet with position coaches, the coordinators, the head coach and personnel department
12:12
[Comment From D.J.]  Who will be representing the Bengals in NYC this year?
12:13
Marvin Lewis:  Two long-term friends of the organization will once again represent the team in New York
12:13
[Comment From J]  do you like the new format 3 day format of the draft?
12:13
Marvin Lewis:  Really not my call
12:14
[Comment From Christopher]  We haven't really heard much about the Center from last year's draft, Jonathan Luigs. How would you assess his progression and role on last year's team, and how does he fit into our future plans?
12:14
Marvin Lewis:  Jonathan has had offseason surgery on both hips and is in the rehab process. We are hopeful he will be cleared by the start of training camp.
12:14
[Comment From campusleftovers.com]  Do you think Chad can win it all on Dancing with the Stars?
12:15
Marvin Lewis:  Chad obviously needs to continue to work very hard and be more diligent in his preparation. Very similar to Chad on the football field many times.
12:16
[Comment From Stephen]  Will you draft a player early in the draft that has not come to PBS for a pre-draft visit?
12:17
Marvin Lewis:  Possibly. We are only allowed to bring 30 players to Paul Brown Stadium who aren't in our area (went to high school or UC). So there is the possibility that we would draft a player in the first round who didn't visit PBS
12:17
[Comment From Robert]  What is the first thing you look for when the schedule is released tomorrow?
12:17
Marvin Lewis:  First three or four games of the season and last two are three as well as where the bye week is
12:17
[Comment From Troy Richards]  How is Andre Smith coach?
12:17
Marvin Lewis:  Andre has had a good start to the offseason program. His rehab from foot surgery which he had in January continues to recover well. Hopefully he will be cleared by the time we start on field work next month
12:18
[Comment From Robert]  Just wanted to say that I really admire the work that you've done with the Bengals since you've been here..
12:19
[Comment From Guest]  Is Mel Kiper's hair real?
12:19
Marvin Lewis:  Mel is very proud of his hair
12:19
[Comment From overthroensamoan]  Who would you pick as the preseason favorite to win the AFC North?
12:20
Marvin Lewis:  The Cincinnati Bengals
12:20
[Comment From Troy Richards]  It was a great move bringing Bobbie Williams back. Is the Oline now a stregnth?
12:20
Marvin Lewis:  I believe our offensive line continues to be a work in progress. They played well last season. We continue to think they will progress and be even stronger in 2010. Andre Smith was not able to be as big a part as we had hoped. With the insertion of him into the lineup we should really move forward.
12:21
[Comment From Trace]  Marvin, what is your opinion of Ndamukong Suh- any possibility we'll draft him?
12:21
Marvin Lewis:  Suh and McCoy are probably the two best defensive tackles in the draft. Rumor has it they will go into the first five picks so there is not much of a possiblity that we will draft him
12:21
[Comment From campusleftovers.com]  who do you consider the bengals biggest rival?
12:22
Marvin Lewis:  I think in the AFC North all three teams prove to be big rivals week after week. There's the rivalary between the state of Ohio and the ones between Pittsburgh and Baltimre where a lot of our coaches have coached
12:22
[Comment From Noah]  How important to you is the scheme that a player played in during college?
12:23
Marvin Lewis:  I think it can be helpful to some positon players -- CB, WR, RB -- to more evaluate the transition to the NFL. In some cases you have to be thorough to project him into your offense and defense which is why some times teams and so-called draftniks will disagree.
12:24
[Comment From Guest]  Chad's Dating Show, too much?
12:24
Marvin Lewis:  Haven't seen it and probably won't
12:24
[Comment From Chris C.]  Coach, what do you like most about your job?
12:24
Marvin Lewis:  The teaching and coaching part of working with our players.
12:25
[Comment From simon]  Last year, was in my opion your best draft.. lot of good value picks.. will this year be the same?
12:25
Marvin Lewis:  Last year's draft we were drafting pretty high in the rotation. We're drafting low this year. Last year people new the names of our picks.
12:25
[Comment From Guest]  are you looking forward to the hall of fame preseason game
12:26
Marvin Lewis:  I am looking forward to having the HOF preseason game. It's great exposure from our organization to be in Canton. I hope to take our players on a tour on Saturday and it will help many of our draft picks to have the extra game.
12:26
[Comment From Darryl]  Has you heard from Dhani since he climbed Mount Everest?
12:26
Marvin Lewis:  Yes I have. Dhani told me it was hardest thing he has done in his life.
12:27
[Comment From overthroensamoan]  Does the team hand out any post season awards? If so who was selected.
12:27
Marvin Lewis:  The team has no postseason awards. The media hands out the Good Guy and Team MVP award.
12:28
[Comment From Ryan]  Can Ced break Rudi's record this year?
12:28 Marvin Lewis:  Records are only made to be broken as your winning football games. As we win football games I hope Ced can break it. We might have to throw for 300 yards some weeks to win.
12:28
[Comment From denis]  Coach, how is Matt Jones doing so far?
12:29 Marvin Lewis:  We are not to the point of the offseason program yet where we begin to do on-field work. The players are in our offseason conditioning program and we will progress to on-field work in May.
12:29
[Comment From Wacka Flocka]  Do you listen to Techno as it has been rumored?
12:29 Marvin Lewis:  No
12:29
[Comment From campusleftovers.com]  Will you miss hardknocks? and do you think that was benefical for the team?
12:30 Marvin Lewis:  I will not miss Hard Knocks. I thought our team was mature enough to handle the situation with NFL Films. I thought it was great for fans across the country and locally it showed our city in a positive light.
12:31
[Comment From RC]  Are some of the groundwork for trades made in the days prior to the draft?
12:32 Marvin Lewis:  Generally teams call around days prior to the draft and the morning of the draft and get a feel for teams moving forward or back. No one really does much draft postion trading until they are on the clock
12:32 Cincinnati.com:  Thanks Coach Lewis and thank you all for coming on. Be sure to tune in on Thursday where we will chat live during the first round of the draft!

Cincy Jungle With Weiss Coming Back To The NFL do the Bengals Make Him The OC?

P1_swearshirt_medium

via i.a.cnn.net

While reading an article with Charlie Weis saying that he will be returning to the NFL, I began to ponder if Marvin Lewis will consider firing Bob Bratkowski and bringing in the offensive guru Charlie Weis. When I googled Charlie Weiss and Bengals a suprise tweet came across my way. Former Bengal John Thorton  retweeted:  "Classic! RT @jamesmthomson : Keep an eye out for Charlie Weis slipping his resume under Marvin's door." This got me thinking do the Bengals pull another great  move signing Weis most likely at a lower price due to his ND contract? Do you think Weis's offensive strategy would be better for this team or for the worse? Although I hate Bratkowski I'd have to say I like how our running attack has developed. So the question is should Marvin Lewis pursue Weis as a replacement for Bratkowski? Would this be a good or bad move for the Bengals?

Cincy Jungle The Solution to The Kick Returner

Justin_medium

via www.bustedplay.com

There is a solution to our kick return problems, Aside from Bernard Scott  we have no explosive kick returners, which boggles my mind that The Bengals did not pounce on the Jet's Pro Bowl Kick Returner Justin Miller. Why have we not scheduled him for a work out? It would be a perfect fit to bring Miller in as a kick returner, and with B. Scott most likely out this weekend we need to take a chance because even before Caldwell's infamous fumble he was already last in the NFL in YPR [yards per return].He has already worked out for the Browns. Do you think we should sign Justin Miller?

Cincy Jungle LJ has his eyes sought on KC Week 16

Although we were all sure LJ would be excited to get his revenge against KC he is already letting it be known via Twitter and Facebook:

"Gonna gallop all over the Chiefs. Cleat prints on the chests. Mud in the face masks."

He also tweeted:

Cincy Jungle Putting Things In Perspective: Week 6 Grades

Slaton_hou_cin101809_medium

via www.nflgridirongab.com

It's time to put things in perspective and give out my week 6 grades after  the Texans game. I want  to hear what you guys think, whether you agree or disagree and what needs to be done for us to improve over this somewhat embarrassing loss.

  • Secondary Grade: C
Analysis:
After the loss to the Houston Texans yesterday I noticed two significant plays. Leon Hall would have made a great INT against Andre Johnson but dropped it  due to the impact from the ground.  Johnathon Joseph also dropped a possibly  a TD INT return. Our secondary made plays but didn't follow through on them. Although Matt Schaub shredded and the Texans our defense for nearly 400 yards, I do not completely blame the secondary aside from the blown coverage by Chris Crocker that led to a Jacoby Jones TD. I am not upset with the play of  Leon Hall & JJ.. Most of Andre's yardage came on the 59 yard screen pass from the beginning of regulation in which Leon Hall was not matched up against him, Plus Andre Johnson is arguably the best receiver in the NFL he's going to get the ball without us having pressure on Schaub. I'm only giving them the benefit of the doubt due to the 2 dropped INTs and Crocker's INT before the half

  • LB Core Grade: D

Analysis:

I am more critical of our LB coverage and midfield coverage mainly with Owen Daniels and the underneath routes ran by Walter and the coverage against the screen. Although they were great against the run they were absolutely murdered against the screen and by Owen Daniels. It seemed like most of 'Schaub's critical passes where easily made due to faulty LB coverage. Our LB core as a whole has to improve their coverage. The middle of the field seemed more open than a prostitute's legs yesterday. The LB's where better against the run this week, but the thing is Houston was passing more than the run. Where was the LB Blitz? We have work to do here or Greg Olsen is going to get off next week.

  • D Line Grade: C-

Analysis:

The only reason the D Line gets a C is due to the fact that Peko and Odom go down early. Peko and Odom are the best players on the D Line. In the beginning of the game Schaub was pressured and Fanene and Pat Sims where able to manage 2 sacks, but the rush was not the same without Odom and Peko.

  • Running Game Grade: C-

Analysis:

Cedric Benson is not the problem, but there is a lack of creativity coming from the Offensive Coordinator. Stop characteristically running up the middle every 1st and 2nd Down. We also had a total of 17 rush attempts, so I can't completely blame Benson.Where was Bernard Scott? he must be spelled with Benson, He is a change of pace back, who can give us a deadly combo of Smash & Dash. When are we going to see Bernard get some outside runs? Screens? Wildcat Formation? Cedric Benson  can also get some type of screens or use in the passing game. I understand we want to pound the ball but we don't have to just have runs straight up the middle, Benson has some great field speed and vision. Also can we atleast get one reverse to Caldwell? Why the hell would you call a running play down 11 in the 4th quarter with not much time left? No Creative Plays at all.

  • Passing Game Grade: D+

Analysis:

Dropped catches killed us, turnovers from inefficient Tight Ends are unacceptable. Carson Palmer played fairly good his receivers just dropped balls. Where is Chris Henry? Where is Chase Coffman? We are not utilizing our weapons, we should be able to go 4 or 5 wide on passing plays. Chase Coffman must be activated immediately if you are scared for protection purposes use packages where he isn't require to block. We cannot have 3rd down drops.Theres no room for Coles dropping 3rd down 4th quarter passes. Last year we suffered converting on 3rd down and that absolutely killed our offense. To many stupid penalties from the line also killed us as well. We have to play more mistake free football. There is no reason we should not have shredded Houston's suspect pass defense this is why we get a D+.

  • Blocking Grade: C+

Analysis:

Penalties,Penalties,Penalties. Too many false starts and holding calls. The o-line would have received a B- for not have having these brain freezing penalties, and lack of holes opened for Benson. The great news is that only 1 sack was allowed and it came from UC product Connor Barwin. Mario WIlliams was held in check which was very impressive to see, we just need to get these mental errors our the way.

  • Overall Grade vs. HOU: C-

Analysis:

We have to be ready for the screen plays as a defense next week because there is no doubt after watchin film from this game I Bears will be using it. We have to generate a better pass rush, If we don't acquire a DE via trade I look for Michael Johnson to fill the void. We also have to make sure our LB's cover Greg Olsen  he is one of Cutler's favorite targets. We must follow through on turnovers, they can impact the game drastically and Cutler will take his chances, we have to blow it up in his face. On offense we need to utilize our weapons and call more creative plays, spell Benson and Scott and see what it produces, Get Coffman and Henry involved, our offense has some crazy weapons..use them, O line needs to stop having mental lapses, and we need to play like we are the better team. If we can make these adjustments (which I'm sure Zimm will, I don't know about Brat) then we will end our next game with the W.

Cincy Jungle When Will Chase Be Activated?

L3938995_medium

via d.yimg.com

After seeing TE Daniel Coats drop 2 heart wrenching TD catches, I sat on my couch thinking, Chase Coffman would not have dropped those passes. Although I know Daniel is an excellent blocking Tight End, catching is NOT his forte. I feel as if Chase Coffman could be a very valuable weapon in our offensive arsenal minus his abismal blocking as showcased on Hard Knocks, he can be used in packages with the double Tight End formations or even have him line up in the spread as he did in Missouri. The question is when will he be ready? Will he even see the field this season? If he will not be activated who will be our receiving Tight End? It was evident that Carson showed great disappointment with both of Coat's dropped passes. So the question I present to you is when will Chase Coffman be given a shot and activated?

Cincy Jungle What To Do With Andre Smith?

Andresmith_medium

Unless you've been in a cave these past couple of games you have noticed that our offensive line is very solid and has played exceptionally well in protecting Carson. With Andre Smith poised to return either this week or 2 what do we do? Do we take a risk in throwing him out there without playing in the preseason at the risk of Carson taking hit? What would be the best scenario to incorporate Andre into the O-Line without him stirring things up? He would definitely make the already beasty Cedric Benson even more of a beast, but will he struggle in protecting against the pass? I say if he's healthy we need to get him some experience in the Brown's game or any other weak opponent..but at the same time I'm a little worried about maintaining the chemistry.. I definitely wouldn't throw him in against Baltimore.. Anyone else have any suggestions of what we should do with Andre the Giant?

Cincy Jungle Great Win..

Great win yesterday I swear on the final drive I almost had a heart attack

I'm excited for the season, next week should be another victory, but we cannot have another upset

We need to make a serious statement that we are indeed a great team..the next game should not even be close..

Anyone else notice keiwan ratliff on the steelers yesterday? LOL

Anyways great win and we must focus on the Browns instead of looking at the Ravens matchup already

Is it just me or besides yesterday doesn't it seem like the Ravens defense has been uncharacteristically giving up huge amounts of points?

Maybe now we can get some national recognition..

I think we have yet to see how good we can be without play from chase coff,an, bernard scott and Andre Smith..

Our line has looked very solid without Andre so will we be better with or without him?

Anyways just looking for  to share some thoughts.. going to buy my gf a Maualuga jersey

I'm currently in College at FAMU in Tallahassee, Florida

I'm from Cincinnati so it sucks that I have to go to sports bars to watch the game. I planned on gettin NFL sunday ticket but my roomate decided to choose Comcast over Directtv.. Does anyone know of any other possible way to be able to watch the games on Sunday's or is BW3 Steeler Central my best option?

Cincy Jungle It's only 1 Game, We Have To Move On

I have been noticing there are alot of people and fans that have lost faith already not only in the Bengals, but in Marvin Lewis, Carson Palmer and our entire organization. I AM NOT ready to immediately give up on the Bengals based on one game, stuff happens but the important factor is to see how the team responds in Week 2.

Yes I am frustrated

Yes we were clearly the better team

Yes there were some bad play calls made

Yes Coles looked horrible

Yes the defense should not have given up that "fluke" pure luck play

But at the end of the day we're 0-1 and this game could be a lesson learned by the Bengals to never let an inferior team stay around during the game and what adjustments need  to be made. Many great NFL teams have lost on "flukish" last minute plays..we'll be OK.. we're not the Browns..

Game 1:

2 Minute Drill: The hurry up offense was spectacular and Carson Palmer orchestrated a spectacular drive and Bob Bratkowski made some great 2 minute calls. (cant say much about his other decisions)

Offensive Weapons:

-Andre Caldwell has shown yesterday that when healthy he can deepen our WR and his hands in that game were reliable

-Cedric Benson shows he has the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield with his total yardage numbering 108.

-Brian Leonard looks like he can be a HUGE WEAPON for us this season, he made some nice plays and he looks like he can give us some smash mouth football plays.

Offense:

I do not understand why people are comparing this offense to last year's offense. We actually where able to run the ball and pass the ball and Carson wasn't being pounded play after play. The offense had an effective drive early and  would have scored a field goal in an early drive when we drove down the field, but with a new LS and new place holder thats bound to happen until they develop a stronger feel for each  other.

-Carson Palmer missed the last couple of pre season games and still passed for 247 yards. How can you expect the offense to mesh knowing he would be coming into the game rusty and off of an ankle injury? Plus in my opinion his interceptions where not his fault..Champ Bailey made a great play on the football with the deflection, Ocho should have fought for what I perceived was a catchable ball. The 2nd int was a hail mary so that really shouldnt reflect his play.

I WILL NOT BLAME CARSON PALMER.. Look he's not Jake Delhomme...Jake Delhomme has superior  OL protection compared to Carson and he make bad decisions his self so he is to blame. People wonder why Carson has began to struggle from 05-09 its because the Bengals had one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. people give to much credit to these great QB's in the league without aknowledging their offensive line. Not saying our 2009 Bengals line sucks, bc as of yesterday the don't so far, but in 05 He had one of the best if not the best RT in Willie Anderson Pro Bowl LG Stud Eric Steinbach Levin Jones (before the injuries) Stacy Andrews a decent C in Rich Braham.. When Carson had this great line he was one of the top QB's in the NFL, Rudi Johnson was one of the best RB's in the NFL. My key point is you can't say Carson's play has deteriorated.. the Offensive Line has.. unless your are a scrambling QB. . even Tom Brady, Peyton Manning would find it hard to make plays with no Probowl Caliber Lineman.. Look at their O Lines.. I can guarantee you there is atleast one pro bowler..Name one Pro Bowler on our line...

Defense: The defensive play was stellar excluding the last play. Antwan Odom has 2 sacks in 1 game vs. his 2 sacks in a whole season.

- We have BIG HITTERS something we desperately needed (i.e. Roy Williams, Rey Maualuga, Keith Rivers)

- Our secondary kept Brandon Marshall in check

- Roy Williams didn't hurt our pass defense

- Ray Maualuga looks like he is going to be a hard hitting force to be reckoned with this season

- We had great rotation within the Defensive Line

-Johnathan Joseph played stellar against Brandon Marshall and made a HUGE play which should have been revied

O Line:

An Unproven offensive line with new starters minus Andre Smith looked better than our O-Line last  season. Green Bay's 3-4 defense will give a more accurate look of how our Offensive Line will be.

Laverneus Coles:

-Of course he is going to struggle before he is comfortable and finds his place in this offense after being in the Jets Offensive System for years. He's a vet i'm confident he will adjust and become an intrical part within the offense, If not we still have Henry and Caldwell who are more than capable of playing his position.

OCHO CINCO IS BACK

- Not only is Estaban back he is not bitching after the loss and he  has returned to the old Chad, made some great plays against Champ

IT'S ONLY 1 GAME PEOPLE!!! You never really know who are going to be the good NFL teams until around Week 6 or 7. The 2007 SUPER BOWL GIANTS  started their season 0-2. If the offense continues to struggle and the Bengals begin to actually lose by their own will and not a "miracle" then it is the time to panic. Right now we need to be focused on Green Bay and making our adjustments to come out with a W.

Cincy Jungle Andre Smith deal rumored to be 5 yrs between 28-32 million

According to Bengals.com, some of the terms of the deal have also been detailed:

They are apparently close to a deal with a different structure that is going to be a compromise. Smith, at No. 6, sought a deal bigger than No. 7. The Bengals wanted a deal more in line with the rest of the first round. Indications are the structure would give Smith a bigger deal than what Jacksonville tackle Eugene Monroe signed at No. 8. That's a five-year deal that is somewhere between $28 and 32 million.
