The affect of McDaniels promotion to offensive coordinator
Since January 11th Josh McDaniels has been the most scrutinized and publicized individual in Denver, if not the entire sporting world. So that got me thinking....what was McDaniels impact on the Patriots offense? Is there a clear and significant jump in scoring, ypg, and any other category that the Patriots may have gained from the promotion of their quarterback coach? How about players? Did players benefit from McDaniels and his system? Ive compiled a fair amount of stats from NFL.com indicating McDaniels helped to turn the defensive orriented attack of New England into the record setting and world beating offensive attack, that has made Tom Brady not only a super bowl champion, but statistically the greatest quarterback outside of Peyton Manning of his generation. For good measure I also included in Denver's stats (you know just a comparison since the MSM fails to use them).
From 2001 to 2005 McDaniels carried a variety of positions within the New England organization from defensive assistant to quarterbacks coach. All this time Charlie Weis was the offensive coordinator of the Patriots. Weis helped transform the Patriots into the dynasty of today, but he did not create a juggernaut offensive. Here are the Patriots and Broncos scoring, points per game, and yards per game from 2001 to 2005.

After the 2004 season Weis went to Notre Dame and McDaniels assumed the playcalling duties for the 2005 season. McDaniels becoming offensive coordinator did not become official until 2006, and this is when the Patriot offense really took off.

<!--EndFragment--> Obviously 2007 is the season that really jumps out due to the record breaking numbers put up by the Patriots, but what was the most revealing statistic to me is the closness between league rank in yards per game and points per game durig the McDaniels era. To determine this in a mathematical percentage take the league rank and gain an average of both statistics than divide the points per game average over the yards per game average. An ideal correlation between percentages would be a 1.00 indicating the teams yards gained resulted in an appropriate amount of points per game. Obviously this can be twisted and mutilated to serve any purpose but just for this discussion I think it gives an appropriate picture.
The Patriots had an 88% which is exceptional and indicates the Patriot offense scored more points than the amount of yards the team gained would suggest. This attests to the amount of tournovers, field position, and offensive efficiency of the Patriots. The Broncos on the other hand had a horrible 158.8 % indicating the vast amount of yardage the team gained did not translate into points. Once again it can be attested to the lack of turnovers and horrible special teams of the Broncos the past 3 years. This also shows how the Broncos were great between the 20s but could not score.
All of this has been discussed extensively on MHR and I believe most of us are in accordance with each other that we really werent the 2nd best offense, while the Patriots have had one of the best teams and offenseives of the past 3 years. This can be attributed to McDaniels and his system.
This article was about stats and not opinion. I hope you can all understand how i laid the information out there, and I hope it may help to continue creating an air of excitement in Bronco Country about the upcoming year.

Team USA and the victory that should inspire ALL fans
Hey everyone at MHR, I have been a longtime reader but this is my first post, so I hope you all enjoy it.
FIRST OFF, I would like to say Happy Fathers Day to all who are fortunate enough to be fathers. There is no greater honor or victory than when a MAN becomes a father.
Now as for the Team USA's victory in many ways it has brought my thoughts back to this offseason and upcoming season for the Broncos.
I am not a huge soccer fan, in fact I rarely watch or even bother to follow the sport, but lately I have been absolutely fascinated with Team USA. Today they played Egypt in the final game of the first round of the Confederation Cup. The Confederation Cup is kind of a warm up tournament for the teams the summer before the big tournament next summer, The World Cup in South Africa. For Team USA they had vastly underperformed in the tournament so far losing 3 to 1 to Italy and 3 to 0 to Brazil. Both Italy and Brazil have long been heavyweights in the sport, but Team USA was still expected to be competitive and maybe even pull out a close one against one of the two teams. Instead they recieved a red card (this kicks the recieving player out of the game forcing the team to play undermanned) in both games, and were blown out in both games, especially against Brazil. The game against Brazil was truly the most disheartening for fans. Team USA committed several errors throughout the game resulting in easy goals for Brazil. This is when Team USA and their coach Bob Bradley begin to draw parallels (in my opinion) to the 2009 Denver Broncos!!
After the loss to Brazil the media began to absolutely rip the players on Team USA and Coach Bradley. The pundits at ESPN began to question the "heart" of the team, saying this team took everything they had for granted, and just overall doubted the players and coaches for Team USA. Before the game the pundits wouldnt even begin to attempt to explain the scenario that it would take in order for Team USA to advance to the second round, saying the odds were too "astronomical" to hope for. They were calling for new players and coaches to be brought in, and even questioning the moves of Bradley, a coach who has been extremely successful. Team USA was given ABSOLUTLEY NO CHANCE OF BEATING EGYPT AND MOVE ON TO THE SEMI-FINALS. Sound familiar yet??
Coach Bradley has been a real inspiration and a very interesting individual. He in many ways is everything that a coach should be, a steady, constant and fair leader, excellent evaluator of talent, and has been very successful, but since the Brazil game he came under very heavy criticism from the media. He was especially ripped for his decision to not bench his son Michael Bradley for the Egypt game. Many of the so called "experts" felt Bradley should be benched in favor of the more locally famous Freddy Adu, but Coach Bradley felt his son gave his team the best chance to win, and the junior Bradley came through in a major way for his father. At the 63rd minute Michael Bradley poked a shot around the Egyptian goal keeper bringing Team USA to a 2 to 0 lead. This had to be a great moment for Coach Bradley as he faced HUGE criticism for not picking the more famous player. Once again sound a little familiar to a certain team and coach?
Team USA came out and from the first minute played with great passion and energy. They showed the WORLD that the players Coach Bradley assembled fit HIS system, and they were the players he needed to be successful. The results werent there initially, but they came! Team USA beat the Egyptians 3 to 0, an absolute BLOWOUT in international soccer (i have a hard time calling it football). The Brazilians went on to beat the Italian 3 to 0 as well, allowing for the Americans to have a lower goal differential than the Brazilians and Italians. This lower goal differential allowed the Americans to advance to the semifinals of the Confederation Cup, despite the "expertise" of the pundits.
The most exciting part about the world of sports is that no matter how many times a so called "expert" may predict the outcome of a team, or try to explain the morale of the team, they can be PROVEN WRONG (and many times they are proven wrong more times than often, especially after predicting doom and gloom as with Team USA, and a certain orange and blue football). This is why I have dragged all of you through this story of a soccer team. Experts are wrong and a team with heart, passion, and a solid system CAN WIN!
Team USA will go on to play Spain on Wednesday. This is a game they very well may not win, Spain is the number one team in the world, but WHO CARES! Team USA has defied the critics and pundits, and more importantly have gained GREAT experience against the best teams in the world. Next summer, when the REAL tournament begins Team USA will have a plan, experience, and more importantly CONFIDENCE because they have played with and beaten the best teams in world.
On Wednesday you know what.....they very well may beat Spain, the number one team in the world, the team with a world record 15 game winning streak, the team the "experts" think are unbeatable. Personally I believe they can win, and I know Coach Bradley believes they can win!!
The Denver Broncos have a similar story and for that reason I have created this post. The "experts" dont believe we can win, but WHAT THE HECK DO THEY KNOW!! WE ARE BRONCO NATION!!
Sorry for the length of the article and the simple fact it was mostly about soccer (I hope that didnt turn too many people off), but I felt the Team USA example was a good one for those of us here at MHR.
GO BRONCOS!!

Broncos cut Boss Bailey
Hey guys well it looks like the broncos will be parting ways with Boss. Here is the link from the national football post
http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Sources-Broncos-cut-Boss-Bailey.html
This is probably a sound move because while Boss seems to be a high character guy he just isnt durable, and McD seems to truly want durable and tough players, and for all the people who believe Champ will be upset and cause a problem over this....I truly doubt that. Champ is the consumate proffesional and will take this as a true leader and proffessional should.
It will be interesting now to see how the linebacker unit will line up in training camp.
GO BRONCOS!!!
