Living and Breathing Hockey in the Hub of Les Habitants World. Ok, I'll admit, Canadiens fans burning down Montreal is funny. I have some close sources, but only 5, not as much as Eklund has(or has not). Marian Hossa is amazing. I'll occasionally watch the odd raptors game, and once in a blue moon you'll see me watching the Jays getting ass-whooped. How's that for a sports fan?

Sens to play in Kraft Hockeyville 2011
For the second year in a row, the Ottawa Senators will participate in CBC's Kraft Hockeyville. Tonight, the winner was announced to be Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador. The Sens will play a pre-season game there on September 26th, against the Atlanta Thrashers.
Curious to see Atlanta in the game. Maybe CBC is banking on them moving to Winnipeg or Quebec City, for an all Canada-battle. Either way, good news for the Sens.
16th Overall Pick- Who Should The Senators Draft?
Here's what some of their prospect profiles look like...
JOHN MCFARLAND C
McFarland is the 15th ranked North American skater and falls under the category of power forward. He is a big strong kid that apparently really impressed at the combine last weekend. McFarland is coming off a 50 point season with the Sudbury Wolves.
ALEXANDER BURMISTROV C
Ranked 11th among North American skaters by the CSS, Burmistrov is another possibility at 16th overall. He could very well go before the Sens select but he is a guy the Senators will definitely consider if he's available. He spent last season with Barrie in the OHL.
AUSTIN WATSON F/W
Ranked 14th overall by CSS, Watson is a solid two way player that is coming off a solid season with Peterbourough in the OHL.
TYLER TOFFOLI C
The Ottawa 67's forward is currently ranked 16th among North American skaters and racked up 79 points with the 67's this past season.
Thank You Montreal

First off, congratulations to the Habs for advancing to the Eastern Conference Final and destroying my chances of winning the office pool.
As well, thank you for moving us up 2 more spots in the drafty by defeating the Capitals and the Penguins. I also believe a man by the name of Emerson Etem would like to thank you! And when Tomas Plekanec jumps on board with the Sens in the off-season, you will receive a free t-shirt celebrating Daniel Alfredsson's 1000th game celebration on April 10th, 2010.
Enjoy our managerial sloppy seonds! PS: PATRICK LALIMEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CHRIS HOLT! scores a goal!!!!!!!!
In a 4-2 victory over the Rochester Americans tonight, not only did the Binghamton Senators actually win (a rare happening this season), but goaltender/king/hero/model CHRIS HOLT! scored an empty-net goal from his net to seal the deal. Holt becomes the 10th goalie in American Hockey League history to record a goalie.
Seriously, there is only one answer to the problems here in Bytown. I say we should call-up Holt. No doubt about it. Holty's got in the bag.
Sens' Schedule Released
http://www.nhl.com/ice/schedulebyseason.htm?team=ott
The schedule has been released and there's some interesting dates on it. The first game is at the MSG against the New York Rangers on October 3rd. On October 8th, the hope opener features Canadian messiah John Tavares and the New York Islanders coming to town.
October 17th will be pretty intense as Sen Alex Kovalev heads back to the Bell Centre to face his old team and the fans that adored him and hated him at the same time. The last game of the season sees the Sens hosting the Sabres.
Hedman In, Phillips and Auld Out? Just Another Day....
via cdn.nhl.com
I don't know if anyone has looked into this yet, but is Bryan Murray trying to make a move for the Swedish defenseman Victor Hedman? Hedman could soon drop in the rankings with Kane and Duchene going up. Hedman looked good with Karlsson at the World Juniors and I'll bet that Murray would like to see that pairing for years to come in Ottawa. I may be the only one, but I'm starting to drool at this possibility. The best offensive defensemen prospects from Sweden on the Sens' roster? That's like Lidstrom and Kronwall over in Detroit, except I don't know who would be who.
Does anyone else think Chris Phillips should be traded? I personally think his time is done in Ottawa. He's had some great years, namely the 06-07 season, but with the Sens' developing prospect system, it's going be hard to keep him. Phillips has been atrocious in the plus/minus department this year, and has looked slow in this faster NHL. He's a good penalty killer and a team like the Oilers would be interested in him. What would he get in return? I'd expect a 1st round pick.
And what about Alex Auld? With LeClaire now in the system and Elliott looking good down the strech, it looks like that will be tandem next year. Auld seems like the odd-man out and will be on the market in the off-season. He's cheap, good backup and his contract ends next year, which will give flexibility to teams in pursuit of him.
That's all for know Sens fans.
