Mike Bellotti Props
I just had this thought come to mind and with all the flack that MB has been getting lately, why not say something nice about him?
I just checked Rivals.com's top high school football rankings to see where all the prospects are going or planning to go to.
I couldn't hardly find any that were even considering going to Oregon. Yet every year we are a top 25 team, sometimes a little worse and sometimes a lot better.
Oregon is one of those schools that might steal away a prospect from another school because they come and see our facilities and make a last minute change. At least it seems to me that it happens a lot.
Then it also seems like we have had a lot of top NFL draft picks (Harrington, Smith) that do poorly in the NFL which has to make you think that Bellotti brought out their potential and doesn't necessarily need talent to win games (although an occasional Jonathan Stewart is nice).
What to do. What to do....
I have a dilemma. In July when tickets went on sale I opted to not buy tickets and now I am really regretting it. I've managed to find reserve tickets to the Houston and FSU games but Cal is going to be tough to come by. Does anybody have suggestions on what I can do? Standing room only tickets are gone and all tickets on Craigslist and Ebay are freakin expensive. I am going to call the ticket office tomorrow to see if I can get a miraculous set of tix but realistically it looks like I will not be able to make the game. So, my next dilemma is to either host a party up here in Albany or I could go with a friend to a place in Eugene to watch the game and catch some ESPN gameday action. So here are my questions that I am hoping somebody can help me out with.....
How can I get some tickets without spending a ton of money?
Where is the best place in Eugene to watch the game? Is the MO center open to the public who don't have tix?
Help!
JStew
Tonight I was flipping through the channels and ESPN Plus was playing the Oklahoma-Oregon game from last year and I got pretty excited and noticed a few things:
Our defense is good if they can play with heart and if the offense can stay on the field a little longer to give the defense a rest. If we run the ball more this year then I think this will eat up some more time and give them that much needed rest. The 1st half of this game looked great defensively. Sure we lost a few guys since last year but I think its mainly a matter of stamina. The cure for that is a running game....
...All of us know that Jonathan Stewart should be running the ball MUCH more than last year. I really hope he can stay healthy this year. He is the greatest part of Oregon football that I am looking forward to. In the Oklahoma game I watched tonight, he had something like 9.0 YPC in the 1st half. He is so fun to watch and if our O-line is nearly as good as it was last year (which it should be), I think he is going to have an unbelievable year. When I say unbelievable, I don't mean something like Onterio Smith in 2001. I mean like Reggie Bush in 2005. Seriously. Mark my words. As long as he stays healthy...
One more reason I am excited to watch Jstew this year is the new 30 yard kickoff rule. Wouldn't it be great to see Jstew take one to the house in the Big House?
Joey vs Kellen
In case you missed it, NFL network aired a preseason game of The Falcons at the Jets.
How'd they do?
Joey went 6-9 for 88 yds
Kellen went 16-22 for 174 yds and 3 TDS
"Offensively, this was great work for us," Harrington said. "I think we showed where we are with this offense."
"Joey was on point," receiver Joe Horn said. "He was on top of his game and that impressed me. He knew the defenses and he had great timing with the receivers."
