Canal Street Chronicles My two cents... take it or leave it.

I can't say it better than the headline: "...they're already trying to take it away from us."  Normally I ignore this stuff and I'm probably preaching to the choir posting it here, but I've had enough of it lately and I thought I'd take a moment to rant.

1) Refs gave it to the Saints.  Really? This one is pretty darn easy to shut down.  First off, there are always questionable calls, but there where no Ed Hochuli,  'Oops! I didn't mean to blow the whistle' style officiating errors. (Sorry Ed, but you did it, live with it.)   Nothing screamed injustice and as usual the oops balanced out; the Saints had some questionable calls against them as well. If the NFL wanted to rig it, the Saints would not have won, Favre was the name the NFL and CBS execs were chanting.  If the refs could be bought, then I gotta believe Jerry Jones would have his team Super Bowl bound.  I'm willing to let that one go at that, but the one that really gets me is:

2) Saints were out to injure Favre.  The NFL is getting crazy about protecting the QB, tonight was no exception; and even with the extra attention and extra rules, the refs thought it was clean enough.  Now as far as wanting to knock him down and get him off the field?  You're dang straight, that's what the players on defense get paid thousands and millions of dollars to do.  No sane fan wants to see a guy from the other team get his neck broken, but I for one can say that no, I don't have any problem seeing legal hits lead to the other guy limping off the field.  I expect the other team give us hell right back.  That's football.  Maybe some of the people that don't want to see that should switch to soccer and cheer for yellow cards.

Lastly, to any gracious Viking fans out there, Skol! It won't be long till we face off again.
