To draft, or not to draft? That is the question.. or is it? I mean everybody's sayin,"Picks! We need more picks!" But what does that really mean? Unless you pick the right player, it doesn't mean a damn thing. The Detroit Lions have drafted 34 players since 2006.  Wanna know how many the Indianapolis Colts have drafted? 34. During that same span, both the Bucks and the Steelers drafted 33 players. Similar teams right? Wrong. In 2008 the Skins drafted Devin Thomas with Eddie Royal still on the board, then drafted Fred Davis with Desean Jackson and Ray Rice still on the board. In 2007 we selected Laron Landry 6th. Adrian peterson went 7th and M. Griffin(the best young safety in the league) went 19th. I could play this game for hours, the point is you have to draft the right person. 

Free agency works the same way. Before you complain about trading for Mcnabb, consider this: Did the Saints draft Drew Brees or Darren Sharper? Their best offensive and defensive players. Did the Cardinals draft Kurt Warner? Did the Vikings draft Brett Farve or Jared Allen?All of these guys have played in or won championships recently. 

For the last decade or so we(the Skins) have obviously sucked at putting together a decent team. So why would you want more draft picks when we suck at doing it? (We did draft Campbell and everyone LOVES him,right?) Unless.... you are willing to concede that a different person is calling the shots, and this person might be better than "Dumb and Dumber" at making decisions. But if you trust Shanny to draft, which is kinda what you draft-mongers are sayin, then why don't trust him to make good FA decisions? You do realize that the same person,( whether Snyder, Allen, or Shanahan) that made the decision to sign LJ and Fast Willie is the same person that pulled the trigger on Mcnabb. Hello, yes. That will be the same person with the final say during the draft. So if you think the offseason has sucked so far, why are you looking forward to the draft? Chad Rinehart anyone?

I am cautiously optimistic about the offseason so far, and I am eagerly awaiting the draft. But maybe more importantly, I'm cautiously optimistic that Snyder isn't making the decisions anymore and Shanahan/Allen will make better choices. Cause in the end, every team is gonna draft players. Every team is gonna trade players. Every team is gonna sign players. Question is, (now say it with me) are they the right players? Only time will tell.

Same car, different driver... and that's a good thing.

I hear the skins are trying to trade for Adam Carriker of the St. Louis Rams. Andre Carter is reportedly being used as trade bait. At first glance, a resounding "H-NO!" would be in order. I always liked Carter and now he's got some help up front. But if the skins switch to the 3-4, Carter is nowhere near as effective as a stand-up rusher, as opposed to having his hand in the ground. But if we trade him, does that mean Chris Wilson would be the OLB starter?Hmm...the 3-4 is becoming more and more a reality.
