Chiefs Cap Troubles in 2015 Look Very Manageable

3

NFL salary cap in 2013 was $123 million. It is $133 million in 2014, and is projected to be as high as $150 million in 2016. Assuming the cap increases to $140 million for 2015, the Chiefs are not in a terrible financial spot.

By then, the following players can be cut from the team with minimal impact on the field and can be replaced easily with draft picks or guys on the roster.

Chase Daniel ($3.8)

Donnie Avery ($3.55)

Ryan Succop ($2.49)

AJ Jenkins ($1.34)

That comes to $11.18 million saved and if Fasano becomes expendable, the figure goes up to $13.16 million.

$112.84 million would be the Chief's cap space with $27.16 million to work with. Let's say Smith's deal takes up $17 million and the Chiefs are left with around $10 million to go after one big FA. Best of all, they won't have to release Tamba Hali or anybody integral to this team

2014 Chiefs Mock Draft

During the first half of the season, I thought there wasn't much the Chiefs needed to be a legitimate Superbowl contender. The defense was shutting down every opponent in sight and the offense was...

The case for a LB in round one

Prospects to watch: FSU's Timmy Jernigan

AP user andrew33 reviews a draft prospect from the national champs that the Chiefs should keep an eye on.

DE Ethan Westbrooks 6'4'" 264lbs

"In 2012 he registered 28 tackles for loss and 19.5 sacks. He also broke up two passes and forced three fumbles. As a senior in 2013, he had 19.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks to go along with five passes defended and a forced fumble." DII player from West Texas A&M that could be a good late pick by the Chiefs to strengthen pass rush. Very quick off the snap and has surprisingly clean moves. Most likely a 3-4 OLB in KC.

Looking at the number of college prospect comparisons made to Wes Welker every year, one would figure every NFL franchise would have a Welker by now. Clearly, being a white, speedy, deceptive and...

Is the offensive playcalling a legitimate concern?

There hasn't been much to complain about as a Chiefs fan early in the season. In fact, the matchup vs. the 0-3 New York Giants has widely been billed by the media as the team that is doing...

Xavier Su'a-Filo: Intriguing First Round Guard Prospect

Although Xavier Su'a-Filo isn't flashy as De'Anthony Thomas or Dri Archer (shamless plug... I know), the offensive lineman is capable of having just as great of an impact in the NFL, something us C...

Don't understand why McCollum is an option discussed for the Wolves, and Burke is not. Rubio is going to have guard the 2 if any of those two guys started on the Wolves. This guy is flying under the radar and I hope Wolves take advantage.

A video to show his style of player than who he is in 2013. Looks great to fit into Sutton's "attacking" defense.

Snorsio Moore: KC's next 3-4 ILB?

7

He plays 3-4 OLB, but can be more valuable as 3-4 ILB in my opinion. I think this could be the guy Chiefs take with the 2nd round dolphins pick if the albert trade goes down. He is very good at blocking gaps and can accelerate through those gaps. He is also very adept at batting balls down at line of scrimmage... resembles jj watt in this aspect of his play. Also he is very instinctive in getting himself into a good position to make a play and has pretty quick reflexes. Sio is also an effective pass rusher with good moves. He is deceptively quick and can cover. There are times when Sio cannot get disengaged from much bigger tackles, but it seems to be not a problem with strength but with hand technique which can be taught. This is all my opinion and what I thought of Snorsio. Check out more of his tapes if you haven't already, he is a consistent performer.

Why NFL QBs are going to rip Kuechly apart. Sure he is great at run stuffing but Siler and Belcher are great at that too. No need to bring this guy in for the 11th overall pick.
