Thursday will be the third chance our Falcons have at an "elite" team this year. We lost the first away vs. the Steelers (in OT), We won the second away vs. the Saints, and now we have a chance to bloody our thirsty beak in the Ravens. I have been waiting a long time for this game. It is a litmus test for our beloved falcons. If we want to be deep playoff contenders we are going to have win this game. We couldn't ask for a better situation (Ravens have to travel on a short week to play in a Dome that the falcons suddenly become invincible). Am I nervous? hell ya! This game either legitimatizes the falcons or keeps them as a flickering flash in the pan. I would rather lose to a "not so good" team away then to let the Ravens come in and have there way with us on a short travel week, in the national spot light. 

We can hand the ravens there hind ends on a platter, and we should. Everyone of us is thirsty for a pounding ( players and fans)and here comes the Ravens, on a Thursday, only game on T.V. This is our moment. To walk all over the nation and make our stand as a force to be reckoned with. If there ever was a time to "Rise Up" now is the time!

I had extremely high hopes for this year. i thought we would traverse the the playoffs to the super bowl. I thought we had the pieces in place to make a hell of a run at it.....at least until Dallas beat new Orleans. at that moment my heart sank in my chest and frustration set in. I began thinking of all those horrible calls and horrible kicks that tore us down, the plethora of injuries that tore us down. I blamed everything on everyone. I thought of everything that caused this to happen, but then it came to me. i was not for one second thinking that we weren't good enough. I still thought we were though i heard my  Friends laugh when i said "we still got a chance" pre Dallas victory of course. 

I thought and thought about it and came to the conclusion that this year we accomplished more than last (( year. we are a hell of a better team in my new found opinion.  Ya i know......no playoffs no good......well not so much in our case. i I would have told yall at the begging of the season that Matty Ice, the Burner, norwood, Dahl,  and Baker, would miss consecutive games this season ( may have forgotten someone), not to mention you can forget about those first two draft picks this year. O and your schedule this year is umm...in the top 5 hardest in the league. 

What a kick in the balls that would be to our expectations. I would hope but i sure as hell wouldn't be betting money on the falcons. but somehow we came up with 9 wins, I would have gave us 3 knowing that in hindsight. 

So ya...i think we are better this year than last we had a much harder shedule and we were beginning  to touch 3rd string in some spots. we effectively had no draft this year, a much weaker than expected run game. we could not make  field goals for most of the season (one mans fault....my opinion). still we overcame to the tune of 9 victories 

In this league, we came further than any other team could have hands down. the colts, the saints, the pats, vikings etc... there is  not one team that could have made it  to 9 wins with any schedule given our birds situation. I think we had one of the best seasons filled with heart, tenacity, it showed us that our depth is becoming something to fear. Our defense...is becoming a really good one, they grew up this year. we became a hard nosed, fumble forcing, intercepting ( grimes i love you baby) defence. who would have imagined we would come this far.....not me. 

I am so proud of what we did this year, no other team could have done this. so hell ya for us, the playoffs???? in due time we are making a bomb that will blow this league apart......we have only gotten better.

well done lads....well done.

So training camp will be in mid July sometime, I plan on going most of the days. I was wondering if we could get some sort of "Falcoholic" T-shirts so we can identify each other out there. I hope a lot of us are able to attend. It would be a nice shirt to have anyway, or is there one? how nice would it be if we had our very own spot on the hill?

I heard in the new stimulus bill congress is about to pass there is a provison for the 2009 NFL season. I know this sounds crazy but for every touchdown the Pittsburgh scores the lions will get 2 points. you know just to even things out......crasy i know but i guess socialism has transvered into the NFL. I wrote congress and told them that we deserve at least one point for every AZ touchdown. I have not gotten a respose yet.
