Will Muschamp announcement coming today?

Orangebloods.com is reporting that an announcement pertaining to the future of Will Muschamp will be made today in Mack Brown's 3:30 press conference. Will Will Muschamp become Brown's successor? Stay tuned.

edit: Ketchum is saying that Muschamp is indeed going to replace Mack and that the team has been told. Hasn't been officially confirmed yet though.

Chip Brown: UT May be Enjoying its Only Season with Muschamp

Chip Brown of Orangebloods.com writes that:

Mack Brown has said he thinks Will Muschamp will be an excellent head coach. Brown also sounded this week like a guy facing the realization he could lose Muschamp after this season.

Muschamp, 37, has been reported as a short-list candidate at Clemson.

Chip goes to offer his own opinion:

I think the guy is the next Bob Stoops, and if you let him get away, you risk never seeing him again. I'm already on the record saying you promise Muschamp the head job when Mack moves on and pay him accordingly.

My $.02: While it's unlikely that UT would offer Muschamp a head-coach-in-waiting deal, I don't think it would be a good idea anyway. Texas is a top-five HC job in the country, and to tie ourselves to Muschamp this early in the process seems very shortsigthed. Then again, I don't get paid to make these kinds of decisions.

Were any of you aware that Chase Daniel grew up in Texas and would've liked to have played for the Longhorns?

In all seriousness, it's an okay story, but how many times does it need to be told? I've seen at least a half-dozen articles with this exact theme, in the AAS, Rivals, ESPN, Yahoo!, etc.

I know that actual "analysis" is too much to expect from most sports media outlets, but is it too much to ask that sports journalists not just rehash each other's stories over and over again?
