Buffalo Rumblings Recent Releases Around the League

Does anybody think the bills will make a play at any of the current releases? Most notably Tommy Harris, Kris Jenkins, or A.J. Hawk (who could be getting released soon). This could put some depth in areas of need allowing OBD to focus on bigger needs in the draft. Jenkins could be re-signed by the Jets and Hawk would need to restructure his contract to avoid getting cut. Tommy Harris would be a run stuffing end allowing poz to make tackles up the middle and also allowing Merriman and Moats to attack the QB. Just wondering what you guys think. Obviously the price would have to be right for all of these guys but i think they would be great fits.

Buffalo Rumblings Please Ralph Help This Defense!

Just heard a rumor on WEEI Boston that the San Diego Chargers have placed LB Shawne Maerriman on season ending IR. But the kick to this and the reason for this headline is that the Chargers are going to straight up release him once his injury (hamstring) begins to heal. I think Ralph, Buddy, Chan, and the whole good time game need to make a serious run at this guy. He will almost automatically help the pass rush and be able to  teach Aaron Maybin the art of pass rushing from  a 3-4 defense. I'm Just hoping that OBD takes this seriously and realizes that this guy could help sure up a part of our defense that has been lacking this season and seasons before and could use a draft pick somewhere else instaed of drafting a pass rusher high in next years draft. I Don't know his exact age but I know he still pretty young and set aside his off the field problems and the suspension this guy is still going to produce. What do you guys think?

Buffalo Rumblings Here we go again

Ok, so the 2010 NFL Draft is done for the Buffalo Bills, and so is the 2010-11 season for the Buffalo Bills. The Bills went into this draft with specific needs and holes and did little if nothing to fill them. Taking nothing from C.J. Spiller, but why did we draft him if we are not going to get rid of Lynch? And what kind of message does this send to Jackson? Hey great job last year but uh heres another first round pick for you to compete with and possibly sit behind.

Jackson ran for 1062 yards last season and had 46 catches for 371 yards. He also averaged a healthy and impressive 4.5 ypc last season, and his numbers would have been better if it wasn't for Lynch taking half of his carries trhough the middle weeks, and now you add a top ten pick who has to split carries in an already crowded backfield.I believe a solid left tackle would have been a great choice. But if the Bills beleived that there was no one available at 9 then why not trade down and secure a franchise tackle likw Bulaga or Davis and grab  some extra picks in the process? The Bills ranked 30th against the run last season giving up 9 - 100 yard rushers and 4 - 200 yard rushers. Now with that being said why not a run stuffing NT like Williams at 9 or lower? He was available at 26 and teams like the Chargers and Eagles were looking to move up. I like Spiller if we had a need at rb, but hes not going to stop the 46 sacks we gave up last year and hes not going to dramatically help a team that ranked 28th in points scored last season.

Now on to the pick of Troup, the last time the Bills reached for a big run stuffin DT was a guy named McCargo, and everyone knows how thats working out. Its arguable that 2 serious needs coming in were QB and an outside pass rusher. Two guys that fell to us at 41 were Sergio Kindle and Jimmy Clausen. You guys might say that Clausen isn't that good and thats why he fell all the way to Carolina, I tend to agree but hes leaps better than what we have now. Now look at how bad the pass rush has been over the past years. Take away Aaron Schobel (10 Sacks) and the rest of the front seven has about 12 sacks total (1 from our starting OLBs) and you tell me someone like Kindle coming off the edge would not help improve that. He had an injury concern ( but I think he cleared that up in the BCS Title game and combine) and some character issues. (Typical college stuff) He is getting a fresh start with good coaches in a good system and I think hes going to be a Pro Bowler for years to come. And not to mention Ricky Sapp went in the 5th round, this is a guy who runs a 4.5 40, a great tackler and is being compared to DeMarcus Ware. Who knows how this draft class will turn out, but as of right now, With the first pick in the 2011 NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills select..........

Buffalo Rumblings A View From A Massachusetts Bills Fan

Every Sunday between September and January something weird happens in my neighborhood. In the middle of Pats country a 26 y/o man walks out of his house with a red and blue Bills cap and a throwback Marshawn Lynch jersey, or more recently a throwback T.O. jersey.

This man heads down to the local bar and requests that one of the TVs be put on the Bills game. Everyone stops and looks at you, kids laugh at the very sight of a Bills hat, adults teach them that the Bills suck. People, friends, relatives all know of my choice to root for the Bills, but give nothing more than a constant verbal beating. Lets face it Pats fan havevery reason to brag or say the Bills suck, they are not stupid people. They know just as much about our team as they do about their team and they let us hear it. I hear it on the news, the radio, and the newspaper. They rub in the three Superbowls, Tom Brady, and Bill Belichick. They believe they are gods gift to football, they can't lose, or they should never lose.

They have a plan and stick with it. They have had the same coach and the same system in place for years now. I'm so critical on the things the Bills do and don't do because I'm tired of sitting back and waiting for something great to happen, I'm tired of watching the Patriots kick our faces in twice a year.

This is a proud franchise and an even prouder city who lives for football. However I don't get to this, I just get the "God must be a Patriots fan" take on life. I feel that Leslie Frazier never had a chance of being coach here, and if Buddy Nix was so good at drafting and building a team why did San Diego let him go? Listen I'm bashing anyone this time, just expressing my concerns. I just see Chan Gailey as another in a long line of disappointing coaches. I'm not too sure but didn't he go 9-7 two years in a row with a Cowboys team that had Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin? I mean if you can't win more than 10 games with those guys what am I going to expect with this group?

Iguess the draft is the way to go, but last time I checked we didn't have 22 picks, and just because Walker and Dockery didn'y work out doesn't mean we have to do NOTHING in free agency. When you sit here in Mass and watch the Patriots win with players like Tully Banta-Cain leading them in sacks, it makes you wonder what the hell we are doing wrong. It seems like when Poz gets his annual broken arm the defense can't stop the run, and their have been so many different left tackles that no wonder any QB gets happy feet in the pocket. If we are going to win it doesn't start with a draft or free agency. It starts with consistency on the sidelines and a system  where interchangeable parts can work when injuries or poor play take their toll.

It finally looks like the tide is turning in the AFC East, but instead of just watching the Patriots fall, now we have to watch the Jets and the Dolphins rise. But anyway when I'm done posting this I'll turn on my TV and watch Bill Belichick's TV show and listen to him say how tough the Bills are and how good they can possibly be . Right now thats the only positive praise ( no matter if its all B.S.) that I'll hear anytime soon.

Buffalo Rumblings some free agents i think will help

what does anybody think about maybe adding these guys?

jamal williams DT

ryan lilja OL

larry foote ILB

Lilja is only 28 y/o and has played for a great team. Williams is on the tailend but can prove as a valuble stop gap for a few years. And Larry Foote has played for some great defenses and has ties to Whaley and could be the qb to our defense to lead the new 3-4
