I was looking around different sports sites and came across this. This link got me wondering. Is Donovan McNabb a future Hall of Famer?

via thischicksviewonesports.files.wordpress.com

http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/messages/chrono/14857857

Many argue that since Donovan has yet to receive a ring, he is automatically counted out for consideration for a spot in the HoF. I beg to differ. Look at quarterbacks such as Trent Dilfer and Jim Plunkett. Despite winning Super Bowls, are they a lock to get into the HoF. Do they even have a shot to get in?

Here are some household names in the Hall of Fame that do not have Super Bowl Rings.

- George Blanda

- Dan Fouts

- Sonny Jurgensen

- Dan Marino

These guys have had exceptional careers and are enshired with the best in the HoF. Yet, none have rings on their fingers. They ended up in the HoF because of stellar careers and their performance on the field. Each of these players ment a lot to the team. I think the same can be said with Donovan McNabb.

Lets compare McNabb to these players listed above. Ex-Eagle Jurgensen passed for 32,224 yards in his career of 18 seasons. In 10 seasons and counting, McNabb has passed for 29,320 yards. Blanda passed for 26,920 yards. The completion rate is not far off either. McNabb's completion rate as of now is 58.9%. Marino's was 59.4%, Jurgensen's was 57.1%, Blanda's was 47.7%, and Fouts was 58.8%. McNabb is just as accurate as these quarterbacks, better then some.

But, what really makes McNabb stick out is his Touchdown:Interception Ratio. McNabb has passed for 194 Touchdowns to 90 Picks. Thats a little bit better then 2 touchdowns to 1 pick. Marino passed for 420 touchdowns to 252 picks. That is a good bit less then 2 touchdowns to 1 pick. Blanda passed for 236 touchdowns to 277 picks. He has thrown more picks then touchdowns. Fouts looks about the same with 254 touchdowns to 242 picks. McNabb is safe with the ball, much more safer then many of the quarterbacks in the NFL. He doesn't make as much mistakes and shows poise under pressure.

Another part that goes to McNabb's favor is his rushing game. In his younger days, McNabb was a threat to score running as well as passing. While he has lost a good bit of that magic, he has shown from time to time that defenses cannot sleep on him running the ball.

So, does McNabb have what it takes to get into the HoF. Keep up the way he is going and yes. A couple more productive seasons and he will rival some of the best in the HoF in terms of statistics. A ring or two may not hurt either. Remember, Jon Elway took 17 years before he won his first Super Bowl. McNabb's time will come. But, the stats do not lie. If he keeps it up, McNabb should be well on his way to the Hall of Fame.

 <legend>Poll</legend>

Keep it up and YES! Donny is well on his way to the HoF without a Super Bowl

Yes, i know you guys were expecting this. Knowshon Moreno is an idol to many Georgia fans. He is a solid player, and a great person on and off the field. I have had the great honor of meeting him and wish that one day, i can see him in midnight green and silver. So without further ado.... Knowshon Moreno.

Who is He? & High School Career

Knowshon Moreno is the former starting half back for the Georgia Bulldogs. He is listed as probably the top RB to go in the draft, first round. He also just might become the sucessor to Brian Westbrook. He grew up in Belford, New Jersey, a prime spot where future NFL stars have been breed. He led his high school team to three state titles. He finished his high school career with 6,268 career rushing yards, 128 touchdowns, and 1782 points. Coming out of High school, he was ranked #10 by rivals.com in the runningback category.

Career at the University of Georgia

Knowshon redshirted in 2006 and was a redshirt freshman in his 2007 season. After a solid spring workout, Coach Richt gave him time with then starting back Thomas Brown. But after solid showing after solid showing, he began to see his touches increase as the games went on. When Thomas Brown injured his collar bone, it was announced that Knowshon would be the feature back. His first game as a starter, 157 yards rushing. He joined the great Herschal Walker as the only two freshmen to ever rush 1000 yards plus in their freshmen year. He finished the season with 1,334 yards on 248 carries for 14 touchdowns. Knowshon returned for round two, with a team ranked number one in the preseason. While they did not reach their main destination, a BCS Title shot or even a BCS game, Knowshon finished the 2008 season with 1,792 yards of total offense (1,400 rushing on 250 carries and 392 yards on 33 receptions) and scored 18 touchdowns (16 rushing, 2 receiving). He announced that he would enter the NFL draft on Jan. 7, 2009.

Knowshon and the Combine

At the combine, Knowshon rep on the bench 28 times. He ran a lackluster 40, at 4.60. His vertical jump was 35.5 and ran an amazin three cone drill at 6.84. Ran the 20 yard shuttle at 4.27 and the 60 yard at 11.63. Would have had a strong combine had it not been for his 40, which in turn hurt his stocks.

Positives and Negatives of Knowshon

Positives

Knowshon is a beast, plain and simple. While he does not have the killer speed of say DeSean Jackson, he is a tremendous athelate, which helps him take his running game to another level. Where he lacks in burner speed, he covers with probably the best elusiveness from the entire running back depth of the draft. He rarely falls at the first tackle, having a knack at either avioding the tackler or breaking the tackle. He has a sixth sense on where the hole will open and has the patients to wait behind his line until a suitable opening opens. Great lateral quickness, and has strenght to power through and push piles. Great blocker and will put defenders on their bums. Draws comparision to Brian Westbrook because of solid recieving skills. Can line out wide and runs solid routes, to compliment his soft hands. Solid leaping ability has made him a repeated star on Youtube.com. Solid competator, trusts in himself and wants the ball with game on the line.

Negatives

Not many, lacks the burning speed that some teams look in a running back. Not as big as some team might look for. A little over hyper. Could be a good thing for Eagle fans.

Final Overview

Knowshon brings depth and stabablity to a weakened and aging running back core for the Eagles. He is an exciting playmaker and very vocal, a player the Eagles fans will definatly enjoy. He is a multiple threat and draws comparison, rightly so, to Brian Westbrook. Can spell Westy and develop under him until Knowshon is ready to take the helm. In short, a great use of our first round draft pick.

Way to quiet from our FO. Aside from Andrews, we have only lost players and have brought none in. To be third in the most salary cap space, we have done relatively nothing. Now we have 1 rb, a hole in FS, no new WR to help us, and we lost the heart of our team. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with our FO?

Cowboys make move for Ravens LB Ray Lewis

I guess the Cowboys finally realize that they need a strong presence in their locker rooms (like our B-Dawk). This would not spell any good for the NFC East if Lewis signed with the Cowboys

The newspaper reports the Cowboys could be willing to give Lewis a three-year deal worth between $27 million and $30 million, with $25 million guaranteed.

In addition to his on-field skills, Lewis's personality makes him attractive to the Cowboys. Jerry Jones is said to believe Lewis could help solve the team's problems inside the locker room, the Sun reports.

While I doubt Lewis will leave the team that defined him and his career, enough cash can make a mountain move and Jerry is willing to throw it. Think he will stay or go?

Warner v. Dawkins = Mismatch... in Warner's favor?

Jason Whitlock of Foxsports.com is a great writer in my opinion. Yeah, he can play the race card a little too much, and yeah, he is REALLY superegoistic. But, the dude has a point now and then. Not this time.

This dude actually thinks that Warner has the advantage going up against Brian Dawkins.

8. Kurt Warner vs. Brian Dawkins is a mismatch ... in Warner's favor.

Dawkins is a wonderful leader. He's still good in run support. But when you watch him play the pass in January, you see why the Eagles are reluctant to give the 35-year-old a new contract.

Warner is willing to hold the ball and take a hit in order to get the ball down field to his receivers. Warner's courage is going to bite Dawkins in the ass. You can get deep on Dawkins, and you can make plays down the seam on Dawkins. His recovery speed just isn't there.

Plaxico Burress would've scored three times on Sunday, and the Giants would've run for 300 yards. With Plax on the field, Jim Johnson would've had to line Dawkins up at the goal line regardless of field position or down and distance.

This guy is a complete idiot in my opinion for this topic. While Dawkins may not have hit youth or speed, the experience that he brings to the table helps him pick the right routes, better angles, and solid reads. My pick to win... no comment. See you guys Monday after the game.

Asante might be missing our first playoff game. This would hurt our coverage of Bernard Berrin. Not Good.

from FoxSports.com

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Eagles Pro Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel was held out of practice with a hip injury and is listed as questionable for the divisional playoff game against Minnesota.

Samuel strained his hip in Thursday's practice. Coach Andy Reid said Friday he thinks Samuel is going to be OK.

Samuel made the Pro Bowl in his first season with the Eagles. He is tied for the NFL's career lead for playoff interceptions returned for a touchdown with three.
