Panic Drawer 11/29's JD
There are some games I like to play when I'm bored in public, one is the name game, where you try to guess what strangers names are. My cousin said you can't guess Andrew for guys because all guys look like they could be named Andrew.
Another game is you try to think of what animal people around you would be if they were an animal, this could be purely based on looks or personality, or both. So what animal do you resemble? What about NBA players? Coaches? What critters do they remind you of? Feel free to post comparative pictures but please put a subject/title on your pic so we can minimize them.
After a quick search, this is not a new concept, but I have to say that their execution was not there, there is not enough fire in these interpretations...

Checking BE in the AM - Morning Junk July 10
When do you check BE first? Before anything, do you wake up, and then wake up your computer? Do you brush/floss/clean your teeth first? Do you brush, and get coffee or tea first? Do you brush, eat, go to work, work for a little bit then check it? Do you check it before your email, twitter, myspace, facebook, or whatever else? What's your morning routine, with or without BEdge? My routine changes but I always wonder how others start their day.

OT: Josh Howard - Culture Thread
Okay, if you've read Dave's Mock Draft Post, you'll read some comments calling Josh Howard a "Cancer." I'm sure you all remember all the dumb comments made by Howard last summer, but I don't really hear about Mavs fans really caring as much as sportswriters, bloggers.
Now, my question to everyone, is Josh Howard a locker room cancer? Freedarko's book has a whole chapter on different players that are supposedly cancers, they use statistics to support their claims, even if often in hyper-sylized, semi-contrived manner (hehe, I still like that book, esp. the art). One of these phenomenal tumors as they call them, is Ron Artest. Was he ever really a cancer in Indiana and Sacramento or just a bad boy trying to find his way? Has Ron Artest proved that he is not a cancer by now 'fitting in' in Houston, or did he prove too much of a head case still? Who would you make a 'cultural exception' in trading for/signing FAs? Who has redeemed themselves from who they once were or what people have come to the conclusion they are? Josh Howard? Lamar Odom? Ron Artest? Allen Iverson? Birdman? Vince Carter? Sheed? Starburry!?!?

My problem with calling Howard a cancer is he is the 2nd best player on the Mavs according to 82games.com.
He also has always been on the same team and to the playoffs every year, so it's hard to gauge what effect he has had on the Mavs overall, one could argue that he was a main factor in making to the playoffs over and over again. He has consistently outplayed his opponent at the SF position, and also at SG this past season. I could see why he could be a good fit with Outlaw, who outplays his opponent only at PF.
Please be nice in this thread and don't talk 'bout no one's mommas.

Scroll to Bottom at NBA.com and vote for the Blazers!
'Which lower-seeded [funny the blazers are actually a higher seeded team] West team will advance furthest in the postseason?'
Right now the Blazers are winning!!! Keep it up!
Trade Drawer Fantasies Overflow - 2/18
Dave's post really percolated the idea of coming up with trades not because they could realistically happen, but because you'd love for them to happen.
I usually hate trade talk but Dave's post today really got me feeling like trying out ye olde trade machine.
I've turned to the darkside.
Zeusdammit!!! I see why so many of you think your the bee's knees when you come up with a trade you like. I came up with a couple that are not even reasonable, but I feel like Picasso.
Right now every post is about trades, and trade rumors, things that could actually happen.
Please share with me some fantastic ideas that won't happen, but could.

Shoals Reading/Bar Recap
The reading was nice, it must be weird to speak in front of so many blazer fans, or just people in general (especially for those brainy, writer/blogger dudes). It was nice to see Shoals talk off the cuff and riff a little bit where needed, funny, intelligent guy; the flavor you'd expect from freedarko, or the sporting blog.
There were so many people, I didn't really recognize any BEdgers, not that I know what most of you look like. I did recognize blazerfan1 and twiggs as I left, they were back in the recesses of the book aisle, I shot them a smile :-)
I had to take my girl home before going to the bar to look for Ben. I couldn't find Ben Golliver. There were some cute girls that were blazer fans that were looking for the "Blazers Edge party" at the bar too, but they couldn't find a central meeting place either. Shoals was there with some folks, but If you were there Benny boy, I didn't recognize you :-(
I ended up talking to this BEdger name "Kristine" I think; She asked me who my favorite blazer is, and I said 'Nate,' I asked her, and she had trouble deciding, so I asked her who her favorite non-blazer is and she said Dwight Howard, I didn't agree with her but was at a loss to come up with a better non-Blazer.
Then this older dude chimes in with all sorts of Nate knowledge (didn't know what blazersedge is) and told us this story about how Nate got pressured from his older brother to steal some eggs from this farmhouse when he was ten, and then got caught or something, I really couldn't follow his story, but this guy was really passionate about Nate being a solid dude. This was the apex of this guy's point that Nate is a class act, which I agree with, I just couldn't figure out how the guy went from, "Magic Johnson said the toughest defender he ever went up against was Nate McMillian" and "When Gary Payton and Coach Nate got into a fight, Nate challenged him 1 on 1, and beat Payton, because of his defense." To this weird, egg stealing story.
Meanwhile, parkinglotj is on the other side of this guy, and starts telling us he lost 20 lbs when Oden had to rehab, true to his word (telling us this while eating cheese fries :-). Then 'lot' starts to say that he has a knack for guessing which draft picks will get picked by whom, Nate lover and I could tell he was telling the truth. And the stories flowed like the expensive-ass red ales. I found out that parkinglotj works with my girlfriend's brother's girlfriend, what small world? :-)
Sorry about all the sideways smiles tonight, I'm just happy.
I didn't even get to kibbutz with Shoals about anything, or meet Ben because I was quite engaged in lubricated discussions, but I had a fun time.
Feel free to share your impressions of the night if you have any.

Granted, this was done before yesterday, but makes me feel not as bad.
Nash in High School.
Not a Suns fan, but I love Nash's game. Sorry if someone has fanshot this before, but I found this yesterday, I love the music and slow mo; you can really see what made your man special early on.
"I'm going to post this on my blog"
Dunking from the 3 point line is a compelling title, little brat.
