What exactly is a WaHoo (link)
http://people.virginia.edu/~sfr/enlt214m/wahoo/
These students, commonly referred to as WaHoos have developed a sort of culture, and even further outlined it in 1997 and published it on a site. I stumbled across this site and have been appalled by many of the articles written by the students. There is a credo, a mantra and a dress code to being a WaHoo.
Allow me to pull some excerpts from the site to peak your interest...
On Spring Break: "The goal of any vacationing UVA-er is to not only enjoy those fruit drinks served with umbrellas, but to use the vacation time to boost his or hers social status."
On drinking on weeknights: "These nights include your typical UVA party atmosphere of hordes of intoxicated, talkative, well-dressed (and even flirtatious) people drowning themselves in cheap beer."
On the tradition of streaking: "Whereas Foxfield, football games and rush are all planned well in advance, streaking can be much more spontaneous. Streaking, in all of its informality, can occur at any time of day or night and at any time of the year. Basically, streaking takes place whenever you alone or with a group of friends, who don't mind getting naked in front of one another, are feeling brave enough to take part in this tradition."
On Appearance/Hair: "It takes all the right clothes, a toned physique, a "whatever/who cares" attitude, and other such essentials if you want to be somebody (namely, everyone else), but all these things will be for naught, if a certain feature isn't primped to perfection as well. It is the thing which can make or break the whole illusion. Hair. "
I almost wish I'd read the UVA Juicy Campus while it was around if this is the outlook....
As we move forward in a planning process for President Peterson's Strategic Vision, I certainly do not believe we should be cookie cuttering students, or even developing a set look. One of the things I celebrate at Georgia Tech is the diversity amongst our fellow Yellow Jackets. While I'm eager to visit UVA this weekend for the game (and apparently their in shape women), I have serious issues and concerns with the attitudes that might be taken by this group of 'WaHoos'.

Atlanta to Host Final Four 2013
http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-to-host-2012atlanta-to-host-2012-143293.html
I am saying it right now - TECH makes the final four in 2013 to be able to play to a hometown crowd at the Georgia Dome. Last Atlanta hosted was in 2007, and the city lit up with visiting fans, a flurry of events, and even live performances. Even though I'll be out of college, Final Four in the ATL is always a good time. Looking forward to it...4 years from now!
