Music City Miracles OK I've seriously had it with Jeff Fisher - The Coaching Saga that should have nothing to do with the Titans

Just when you thought we could all get back to our petty lives now the best mustache since Magnum PI had found a new team to lead to an 8-8 record, Jason Cole from Yahoo comes along and kicks us in the balls. I think the article started out trying to kick the Dolphins in the balls, but since they have none this made the process hard so Cole had to decide what to do. He could leave the Titans out of this since this really has nothing to do with the Titans anyway or he could succumb to the fervor of the media's new mustache based religion and rewrite history to make Jeff Fisher seem like the misunderstood second coming of Vince Lombardi, Bill Walsh, Chuck Noll, and the Hoodie all in one. Guess what he decided? Here's the link...

Music City Miracles Finnegan Back Monday

http://www.tennessean.com/article/20110807/SPORTS01/110807005/Finnegan-holdout-over-blames-media?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Sports%20Tennessee%20Titans

About an hour old story from the Tennessean about Finnegan's suprise exit from training camp having zero to do with his contract.  This is either the absolute truth and the media blew up a story that was never a story to begin with, or conspiracy theories will abound that this is the fastest backtrack ever. Either way we can all put our shovels away and quick burying the guy.

Music City Miracles Be Prepared: Form Letter for impending Mike Munchak departure

Dear Mike, [or Mr. Munchak/Hall of Famer]

Congratulations on your new job as a member of a top flight organization like the [insert College, NFL, or UFL team other than the Titans] staff. I hope you enjoy working for a premier coach like [insert any other coach other than Jeff Fisher]. I hope this in no way reflects on your feelings about the current state of the Titans or your dissatisfaction with any of the [think of adjective that embodies inept, dead man walking, sycophant, and choad all at the same time] co-workers that could not hold your jock, but inexplicably share the same offices as you. I would like you to know how disappointed I am that your boss Jeff Fisher would not go to the mattresses to keep you here and that our owner Bud Adams is such a cheap ass that he would not offer you any assurances like [insert appropriate assurances here]  to keep such a talented employee like you on staff. Enjoy your future success and though you might feel a little sentimental about your decision, keep in mind this ship was going down despite your best efforts to keep it afloat.

Thanks for the good times and fuck you for leaving,

[insert your name here]

ps sorry for the FU comment [optional]

Music City Miracles Read what sold me against Cam Newton

Check it out.  It is one of Kuharsky's better posts.

http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/20468/comparing-newton-young-at-this-stage

I know it's probably bad practice to read one thing and draw a defining opinion from it, but after reading PK's blog about Cam Newton, I think both myself and the 'Stache might be jumping out windows if we draft Newton. After reading that, it seems like it should be the dream of Titan's fans that the Jags draft Newton at 15 and for once we'll be able to laugh at someone else's limited offense.

Music City Miracles Our QB competition

1. Carolina (chance of taking QB 99% if Luck is here. 60% if not since this team needs way more than a QB so maybe they don't take one and build the right and cheaper way for the future)

2. Denver (Tebow and Orton 1% if new coach hates Jesus)

3. Buffalo (95% Fitzpatrick played well and this team needs more than a QB, but it seems like the right move for the franchise)

4. Cincinnati (50% - 0% if the hypnosis treatment to remind Carson Palmer whose team he is on works)

5. Arizona (50% they draft 100% they have a new QB - This team has pieces and needs more defensive help than offensive, but they won't get anywhere with what they have.  This has been reported as one of the place McNabb might go if he's available since he lives there).

6.Cleveland (1% Colt McCoy seems to the current answer here).

7. San Francisco (65% Troy Smith and Alex Smith are there - maybe it should be 85%)

8. Your Tennessee Titans (Lots of in and outs in the ole duder's head here.  This team really needs a good veteran and a viable project or a sure thing like Luck.  They have all the pieces in place and would be better served going defense with this pick).

9. Dallas .01% (Best QB situation of the top 10)

10. Washington (No percentage and I went to 10 because this team is stupid and crazy and might do anything if they like someone or drink to much coffee),

Music City Miracles Another important reason why the Fisher Era should be over.

Caveat:  This list will not mention anything about VY or the continuing insanity that surrounds Randy Moss's tenure with the Titans.  Not that these things are not valid and debatable reasons why the Fisher Era should come to and end, I just think one important, yet obvious factor has gone under-mentioned by all of us around here.  Here it is...

Music City Miracles Top 10 reason why this coaching staff is driving me insane

Honorable Mention:  Chris Simms being on this roster -- ever.

10. LaGarrette Blount over Rusty Smith -- one of these people belonged on the Practice Squad, the other did not.  I know MCM has expounded upon this ad nauseum, but is there any doubt that Blount would have been backing up CJ by now thereby earning his roster spot even if he didn't play special teams.

9. Harris and Amano.  These two guys are bad and borderline suck and have been all season.  Amano was a good enough guard to merit a 25 million dollar contract to move to center and stink up the joint.  Harris has been groomed and performed well at center for 3 years in limited spots, but was switched to guard and then stinks up the joint.  Anyone else see a possible fix here?

8.  Not signing Keith Bulluck.  F*** You!!!

7.  Playing Justin Gage over Washington, Damian Williams, or Hawkins in the slot.  Justin Gage in the slot is probably the reason the economy is so bad.  It's that depressing.

6.  Does Donnie Nickey have a tongue piercing?  His talent certainly isn't playing safety.

5.  With few exceptions, Jared Cook has looked good when he played.  On a side note he never sees the field because "The Franchise" needs those snaps to showcase his mediocre talent by catching 3 yard passes or dropping every important pass thrown to him.

4.  Ever heard that expression that put enough Chimps in a room with a typewriter and they would eventually write Shakespeare?  I wonder if we should employ these chimps to design a gameplan that throws the freaking football to Randy Moss.

3.  On that note.  YOU HAD 5 WEEKS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO PUT KENNY BRITT AND RANDY MOSS ON THE FIELD AT THE SAME TIME AND YOU DO WHAT?  HOW [EXPLETIVE DELETED]-ING STUPID ARE YOU?

2. I once dreamed of an offense with CJ, Randy Moss, Kenny Britt, Nate Washington in the slot, Jared Cook, with !@#$% &=+$* at QB causing defenses to shit themselves with fear.  This dream has turned into a nightmare where the coaching staff takes turns kicking me in the nuts every Sunday while Kerry Collins gives me the crooked finger.

1.  All jokes aside.  The overall gameplan doesn't fit the players.  Your offense was set up for big plays with quick strike impact players like CJ, Washington, Britt, Cook, even before Moss.  There's been plenty of talk about the diminishing time of possession.  However, Since CJ was drafted the overall time of possession for this offense has gone down because CJ has changed the way the Titans play despite Fisherball.

On the flip-side, if your offense is scoring fast then your defense is going to be on the field longer, but since the departure of Haynesworth, this defense has gotten particulary small, especially at DT.  With all the other things going wrong with this defense, the biggest problem in my opinion is that they are designed to be paired with a ball control offense which we don't have and so get pounded to death because they are undersized not matter how good or deep this team is at the position.

In other words having no idea how to put a roster together is the number one thing that is driving me crazy and should be one of many reason why Fisher is done in Nashville in three weeks.

Music City Miracles The Titans 2010 Season Advertisement from Hell

In need of a win?  The Titans are the cure for what ails you. Worst pass defense ever? The Titans can hand you a shutout and 3 picks.  Just got pounded by 35 last week?  The Titans will let you get your swagger back. Lose two QBs named Chad? - Enjoy watching your third QB pick the Titans apart with zero running game unless you use the run-only wildcat. Need revenge after being embarrassed 30-3 earlier in the year? The Titans can give you and your sparkly helmets the revenge you seek complete with a lackluster performance and a p’wned first round draft pick to a guy who wears 32 because "32 teams passes on him" even though he plays on one of those 32 teams. Lost your QB because he raped two people? Don’t worry the Titans will hand you 7 turnovers and be fooled on a Pop Warner return trick. And last but not least are you a Denver Bronco? You too can take advantage of the Titans even though you suck Rocky Mountain Oysters.

And as always any member of the San Diego Chargers will get a free victory with proof of ID.

Special Offer This Season Only!!! Tight ends and Screen passes not defended. Runs off tackle will be great to the right, you won't be disappointed.

And coming soon!!! Your slumping interception machine of a QB will once again look like an MVP shooting fish in a barrel despite a decimated roster and no running game. It might seem like a miracle, but it's only the 2010 Titans.

I hope you enjoy the (v)insanity just as much as I have.

Music City Miracles Just heard that Vince Young Practiced today

Just heard on ESPN (or is it EAPN) that Vince Young practiced today, which I hope means Vince will be the one throwing Randy Moss' first two touchdown passes as a Titan this coming Sunday.  I hope this also means that the local and national media shut their jibba jabba about Kerry Collins becoming the starter for this team.  I suppose this might be too much to ask of Mike Florio, but who respects him anyway?

Music City Miracles About the Charger's Offense and Defense Rankings

To preface this probably like many of you I am super scared that the Titans go to San Diego and lay an egg, because quite frankly that is what the we do against the Chargers.  I was personally there for the game in 07 when the Titans had a 17-3 4th quarter lead only to blow it (with a little help from the officials), but I digress...

The interesting factoid coming out this week is that the Chargers are first in both offense and defense.  However how good are these units really?  In terms of yardage they are no.1, but this team has laid plenty of eggs on Special Teams has had an equal number of brain-farts on offense. Certainly these screw-ups have ended up in losses, but more importantly when you give up huge special teams teams plays that is less time your defense is on the field and conversely more time your offense is on the field.

For example ESPN made a big deal about the Cowboys out gaining the Titans by 200 yards, but during the game the Titans had 2 drives that were literally 1-5 yard drives for TDs setup by big plays by Verner and Marriani.  The results is the Cowboys defense gives up lets say 6 yards, the Titans offense earns 6 yards, but the real result is 14 points that made a huge difference in the outcome.

Now back to the Chargers.  Their systematic failures have resulted in their opponents having short drives for touchdowns, returning kickoffs, punts, blocked punts, etc for touchdowns all resulting in little of no yardage against their defense, while at the same time putting a good offense back on the field again and again with the full field ahead of them.  In other words yardage doesn't tell the story of how good these unit are or aren't and bottom line if the Titans hit big plays against this team on Defense and Special Teams which is our current modus operandi perhaps we'll leave San Diego with a win and the Charger will still be the top ranked Offense and Defense.

Music City Miracles Tennessean Twitter just announced that the Titans released Blount

They also dumped Keglar  to make room for claims they put on cut LBs TIm Shaw and Patrick Bailey.  Two things: this is that it leaves only Johnson and Ringer on the roster and second the team is hoping that Blount slips to the practice squad, which doesn't seem very likely.   TN twitter also has the practice squad list as of this moment with two spots open.

Enjoy your labor day weekends... Go titans
