Jason "Mayhem" Miller Retires?

MMAmania.com has a piece up announcing the retirement of Jason "Mayhem" Miller. It seems like he just doesn't have that desire to fight again. Here's a quick quote from the original "Mayhem Monkey" himself regarding the retirement:

"I got plenty of money. I don’t even care. I just do it for fun. I love fighting, but I’m just doing it for fun. I don’t feel like doing it right now, so I’m not going to do it. There’s no need. There’s no need for me to fight, so I’m just happy to have lived such a fun career inside of MMA, so if it ends now, it was fun."

He also points out that he won't be completely gonne from the MMA scene:

"Oh, I will be in the MMA world. I can’t really escape this land of tacky skull tee shirts and [censored] with bad tattoos. I can’t get out of here that easily, but with that being said … I don’t know, I don’t need to fight."

This sucks. Not only was he a good fighter, but he's somebody you could always count on to say something to make you laugh. I hope it's more of a retirement like Paul Daley and we get to see Mayhem back again.

UPDATE: CagePotato.com has the unedited version of Mayhems Comments..

Oh, I will be in the MMA world. I can’t really escape this land of tacky skull T-shirts and spics with bad tattoos. I can’t get out of here that easily, but with that being said, I don’t need to fight…

UPDATE2: Fighthype (the original source of the interview) has posted this correction:

PC: How will the MMA world survive without you and these interviews?
JM: Oh, I will be in the MMA world. I can't really escape this land of tacky skull T-shirts and chicks [Editor's note: The word "chicks" was originally mistakenly heard to be "spics" due to background noise] with bad tattoos.

Possibly die. mmamania.com has an article apparently taken from the former UFC Middleweight Champs Web Blog where he talks about an upcoming trip to the desert to, Explore the deep reaches of the untracked desert. Here's the actual blog entry:

“I’m hoping that very soon I’ll be sitting out in the quiet of the desert beneath a deep blue midnight sky, listening to the calm desert breeze. The idea going into the desert came to me soon after I moved to Oceanside. It was motivated by my friend Sara’s talk of treasure hunting and lost gold, and my own insatiable appetite for adventure and exploration. I began to imagine what might be found in the deep reaches of the untracked desert. It became an obsession of sorts…. I’ve been gathering my gear for this adventure for over a month, not a long time by most standards, but far too long for my impatient nature. Being a minimalist by nature, wanting to carry only the essentials, and being extremely particular, it has been a little difficult to find just the right equipment. I plan on going so deep into the desert, that any failure of my equipment, could cost me my life. I’ve been doing a great deal of research and study. I want to know all I can about where I’m going, and I want to make sure I have the best equipment. One more week. I think one more week, and I’ll be ready to go.”

Sounds like he's gonna be taking a while off from fighting. Which is good because he didn't really look too good in his last two fights. I sure hope he makes it back o.k. though. Good Luck Evan.

Rachelle Leah to Pose Nude

Promoted by Kid Nate.

Just found a nice piece of information regarding the former UFC ring girl. Apparently Rachelle Leah, host of the UFC All Access show will stepping in front of the camera to bare it all. Here's a piece from MMARated.com:

Remember a few months ago when we discussed the possibility of former UFC Octagon Girl and current "UFC All Access" host (does that show still exist?) Rachelle Leah posing in Playboy magazine? Well, here's a nice little update for ya:

When the news came out that Leah would be featured in the magazine there was some question as to whether she would be, you know, baring it all. After all, she did appear in the October 2006 edition of Playboy as a "Babe of the Month" which meant she was, you know, fully clothed.

Well, fear not, as MMARated.com has learned that Leah's pictorial will be of the naked variety. And you better act now because you only have three more months to line up outside your local magazine shop as her issue hits newsstands in November.

Carry on.

You heard it there Guys. It's not Arianny Celeste, but by no means is Rachelle Leah a step down. Reserve those copies!

Babalu vs. Southworth not Ortiz?

I just read an interesting article up over at Fiveouncesofpain.com about a possible match between Strikeforce LHW Champ Bobby Southworth and Former UFC LHW Contender Renato "Babalu" Sobral.

Renato “Babalu” Sobral may be a very busy man over the next couple of months. Sources have confirmed that Babalu is set to face Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Bobby Southworth on Saturday, September 20.

The September 20th date is only three weeks prior to the second Affliction show where Babalu is supposed to be facing Tito Ortiz.

It’ll be very interesting if both organizations are willing to let Sobral fight on two different shows so close together. While Sobral would be a heavy favorite against Southworth, he could be forced to go five rounds with the Strikeforce light heavyweight champion.

Plus, based on all accounts, the Affliction show would pay Sobral substantitally more. Sobral also has publicly stated the the match-up with Ortiz is his “dream fight”. However, for Strikeforce to be willing to announce the fight, I would think they would feel very positive that it will take place. The other possibility is that negotiations between Ortiz and Affliction have fallen off. This could be a very interesting situation over the next few months.

I wasn't all that excited about a Tito vs. Babalu match, but i'd much rather see that happen than a bout between Babalu and Southworth.

In the interview she says her and Roger Huerta are no longer on speaking terms. Ariel Helwani really tries to get her to open up on the situation but she stays tight lipped. Guys I guess our one in a million shot is still alive! For the interview: http://mmarated.com/blogs/blog/20080812/catching_up_with_arianny_celeste-374.html Something tells me Roger isn't really too bummed out.

"Crazy Corrie" vs. Dana White

Fronted by Luke Thomas.

Apparently during a UFC 87 "Fight Club" Q&A a fan dubbed "Crazy Corrie" from Toronto let UFC President Dana White know just how she feels about the way he's treated Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture. The video is a little grainy and the audio isn't the best, but it's still some entertaining stuff:

"Crazy Corrie" sounds like Jenna Jameson. One thing is for sure if things don't work out with Jenna Jameson, Tito's got another crazy one waiting in Toronto.

Just caught an article up over at mmamania.com about a pototential rematch between Former UFC LHW Champion Quention "Rampage" Jackson (28-7) and Former Pride GP winner Mauricio "Shogun" Rua 16-3. Here's a snippet from the Article.

" Rua, winner of the PRIDE 2005 middleweight grand prix, informed a very unsuspecting but grateful crowd that he was indeed anticipating a December return and hopeful that his opponent would be former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (28-7) — not Mark Coleman as previously reported."

If this takes place on the New Year's show we possibly have one the biggest fight cards in history shaping up. Who takes the Rematch?

Sherk vs. Griffin @ UFC 90

Junkie has a post up regarding a potential Lightweight bout between Tyson Griffin and former Champ Sean Sherk:

Former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk (32-3-1 MMA, 6-3 UFC) and lightweight contender Tyson Griffin (12-1 MMA, 5-1) have agreed to meet at UFC 90, which takes place Oct. 25 at Allstate Arena just outside Chicago.

A source from Griffin's Xtreme Couture camp today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that a verbal agreement is in place and bout agreements have been distributed.

The fight will likely end up on the night's televised main card, which features a main event of UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silv vs. Patrick Cote.

The event airs live on pay per view.

Griffin could take a major step toward a title shot with a victory over Sherk. Griffin, a Gladiators Challenge and Strikeforce veteran (and the only fighter ever to defeat WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber), has posted four consecutive victories (all via decision) since suffering his first career loss -- to Frankie Edgar in February 2007. The victories have all come over quality opponents: Clay Guda, Thiago Tavares, Gleison Tibau and Marcus Aurelio.

Sherk, meanwhile, will return to the cage for the first time since his loss to UFC lightweight champ B.J. Penn in May. The title previously belonged to Sherk, but after failing a drug test after a successful title defense over Hermes Franca, he was suspended six months and strippd of the belt. He's maintained his innoncence (for alleged steroid use) throughout the now year-long ordeal.

Who takes it?
