Really Early 2012 Season CAIRO predictions
I know it's early but it has the Cubs at 74-88. Sounds about right to me.
NL Central Notes: Bedard signs with Pirates, K-Rod Accept Arbitration With Brewers, Houston's new GM
Haven't really seen these topic posted or discussed much here.
1) Francisco Rodriguez. I think K-Rod accepting arbitration really hurts the Brewers' flexibility. It's discussed in this fangraphs article rather well.
2) Erik Bedard. Also, (if he stays healthy) I think Pittsburgh got a great deal by signing Bedard for 4.5 million. Alright he's often injured but if he stays healthy he can help them compete and even bring them a nice prospect at the trading deadline. I was hoping the Cubs would go after him. It's a 4.5 million contract with 500k in incentives per twitter
3) Jeff Luhnow . Houston's new GM sounds a lot like Theo. Good thing they're in the AL soon. Link
Cubs Hire Shiraz Rehman to be new Assistant to the General Manager
Here's an interview of Rehman with Baseball Prospectus. This guy is supposedly another potential Future GM per MLBTradeRumors
2 Small Nuggets of Information from Sports Illustrated on Cubs in the Arizona Fall League
Here's some real baseball news not just speculation on future roster moves or speculation about the future manager :)
1) Bad News First. Vitters looks lost at the plate in the Arizona Fall League. Read the last paragraph here
2) Good news tidbit. Our Chris Carpenter has the 3rd best fastball in the AZ Fall League after Aroldis Chapman and Rob Scahill, respectively. Middle of the article here.
PS. I tried making this a fanshot but wasn't sure how to.
