Minor A's 4/15
So the whole system was dominated by pitching today. Hitting was nowhere to be seen and our arms absolutely dominated today. Starters went 26.1 IP and gave up 1 ER. If you include Gio in that mix, the A's went 32.1 IP giving up just 1 ER yesterday. I honestly would trade just a few earned runs for some more hitting. I like that all our boys won, but they look a lot like the wins we get in Oakland, stressful and close.
On a side note...GO SHARKS!

Minor A's 4/14
Thought I would add a quick update on how our boys are doing in the Minors. Thanks to Kyle B for setting us up with stats over the last few days. Over the first week and half, we have some guys in our system that are either really really hot right now, or really really cold. Here we go...

Minor League Opening Day
Don't know if this has started in a thread already, but I'm pretty pumped. When the A's lose, following the minor leagues lets me get through the day. When the A's win like today, well...it's even more sweet. I'll try and post updates daily, I have enough time do it, but if there are others that want to jump in, let me know. We can start things with our boy Green who is off to a nice start.
Green SS: 1-2, HR, RBI
Spina 1B: 1-1, BB
Who are you excited about this year? I'm interested to see Green's defense, well, more like see if he can cut down on the errors. I want to follow Cabrera, Shipman, obviously Choice, Barfield and Parker.

Minor Athletics 7/1-7/5
Been off for a few days but let's check to see how some of our youth are doing. Rather than look at each game individually, we'll look at a few guys that are playing well as well as some of our usual suspects. (which is one of my favorite movies)
6/30 Minor Athletics
Here are the scores from yesterday...
SACRAMENTO RIVERCATS
Tac 5- Sac 3
Wimberly 2B: 1-3, R, BB, SB (29), .280

Carter 1B: 0-4, K, .233/ 336/ 474
Donaldson 3B: 0-4, K, .262 (struggling a bit lately, but still keeping the OBP up, 405 over his last 10 games despite a .214 BA)

Banwart, L (1-1) 4 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 7 K, 4.50 ERA

Thompson 3B: 0-3, BB, K, .175
Hurley LF: 3-4, R, 2B, .278

McDaniel RP: L (1-1), 0.2 IP, 4 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, 6.75 ERA
DSL Watch:
Wifredo Solano SS Solano signed for 750 K last year, our second highest payment to a IFA, we all know highest. Solano has put up pretty decent numbers, the most intriguing being his patience at the plate. He is batting .214 for the season, but over .300 over the past 10 games. His K:BB ratio is 11:21 and with his .214 BA he carries a .396 OBP. DSL numbers aren't really a great indicator of prospect status, but it's good to see the patience.
6/21 Minor Athletics

AFL update 10/28 Desme is HOT!!
We had a nice thread going for about a week following my last post, so I thought I would start another one considering what Desme did today...it's bordering on laughable now.

OT: Is the Bay Area big enough for 2 NBA Teams?
In light of San Jose's attempt to woo the A's from Oakland, The SJ Merc recently reported that the city hopes to also relocate a NBA team to its city. What do you all think? There are rumors that SJ is looking at the Kings as a prime team to move. Is the Bay big enough to support both the Warriors and the SJ ______?

I was impressed with Cahill, especially later on in the game. Hopefully he can use this as a confidence booster. Key stat: 0 bases on balls. That's huge.

DSL watch: Our Dominic team won off the hot hitting of young (not sure if 20 is young for the DSL league) catcher Reynaldo Mateo. He's batting .398 in 33 grames with a nice 18:18 BB:K ratio. Someone to continue to monitor
8/5 Minor Athletics
Chris Carter continued his tear today and James Simmons showed flashes of brilliance. The A's are an exciting team to watch. It's a good day to be an A's fan!
