A's TV ratings on Sunday 5/10...

http://www.mercurynews.com/columns/ci_12348262

According to the Mercury News the A's only managed to draw a 0.3 rating for their game on Sunday or 7,500 households. Seems pretty bad, but then you compare it to the Giants, who averaged a 3.97 for their Sunday game.

Seems to me A's fans or lack there of at the stadium is only one of our concerns. If only 7,500 households in the region were watching the game who weren't at the game, what kind of fan base does the team have left to draw more people to the games with?

Mayor Reed asks MLB to drop Giants territorial rights to SJ

Things just keep coming up with the A's stadium hunt.

http://sanjose.bizjournals.com/sanjose/stories/2009/03/30/daily89.html

Chuck Reed, mayor of San Jose, has put on the agenda for the city council to vote to allow him to officially request that MLB drop the Giants territorial rights to San Jose since the city got no say in the establishment of those rights. This request appears to be part of a package of moves geared toward an eventual A's stadium in San Jose.

EDIT: Santa Clara County is also getting in on the fun now and is planning to issue a similar demand to MLB to drop the Giants rights to the county or at the very least open them up to being shared by both clubs.

Lew gives first public indications on MLB in SJ

http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/stories/2009/03/23/daily101.html

Seems to me this is as close to an admission that San Jose is now the goal as you'll hear until the Giants are out of the picture. He strongly thinks that San Jose deserves an MLB team but he does stop short of saying the A's are that team. Also lists the price of the 14 acres in downtown SJ for the first time at a relatively paltry $80 million dollars and suggests that price could drop a further $25 million.

http://sanfrancisco.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/stories/2009/03/23/daily82.html

Additional reports on the same event in the SF Business Times. Wolff went on to say the fate of the A's stadium search lies in MLB's hands now, which again points to SJ and the territorial rights issue.

When is CSN-CA being added to DirecTv's basic package?

Or is it happening at all? Because CSN-California is still not part of the basic package like CSN-Bay Area and KICU are. It'll be a shame if DirecTv customers have to stop watching A's games because the A's don't get this fixed (or that we end up paying ridiculous monthy fees on top of the standard charges that Giants fans don't have to pay). It's getting awful close to opening day for this to not have a resolution yet.

Fresh opposition arises to the Fremont stadium site

http://www.mercurynews.com/breakingnews/ci_11181633

Looks like the neighbors want no part of the original stadium site at Pacific Commons and have come out openly against it. And NIMBY's are already circling around the Warm Springs site as well. Can San Jose be far behind?

With the EIR done in SJ at the downtown site already and half the land already purchased the only real issues in SJ are the territorial rights (something Selig can "fix" in a heartbeat) and financing, which has become an issue at both Fremont sites already due to the economy.

Cisco Field moving to Warm Springs?

http://newballpark.blogspot.com/

While it's by no means plan A or a certainty it appears the A's are exploring as a backup plan moving Cisco Field from it's current planned location at Pacific Commons over to Warm Springs near the planned Warm Springs BART station. As I recall this wouldn't be far from one of the original locations HOK sport was exploring for Alameda County back in the late 90's. Additionally if they did in fact fall back on the Warm Springs "Plan B" the stadium would be decoupled from Wolff's residential project, or so it seems.

Heather Mitts vs Jennifer Barretta

#1. Heather Mitts vs. #2. Jennifer Barretta

Both Heather Mitts and Jennifer Barretta beat stiff competition to see each other in this round. Barretta's background as a fitness model and tennis player have been paying dividends, as she has quite a body to show off. Heather Mitts is a soccer star for more than her ball handling skills, as she is quite photogenic. Being that soccer and billiards are least closest sports in today's matchup, this is likely the only time you'll get to measure up these two.

Cisco Field still on track despite economy

Lew Wolff, the A's managing partner, spoke today to the AP about the status of Cisco Field. It appears the Fremont election going the A's way did put a little vigor back in the stadium plans. Also appears that 32,000 seats is the likely size now. And most importantly it appears the project is still on track for the 2012 opening.

Also of interest is that San Jose is still off the table with the Giants new owners so MacGowan leaving didn't change anything with the Giants territorial rights. And the A's ownership has ruled out Sacramento as an option if Fremont doesn't work out.

Tina Miller vs Ana Rawson

(3) Tina Miller vs. Ana Rawson (2)

Anna Rawson

Australian beuty Anna Rawson turns heads in every continent she enters. Arguably the most successful model/athlete in the world, Rawson has had a great freshman year on the LPGA. InGameNow is not skilled enough to describe her beauty, so we hope her pictures satisfy!

vs

Tina Miller

There is a strong argument to be made that Tina Miller is the most fun girl in this contest. Considered by many to be the hottest WAG in the NFL, Miller has had a great golf career. InGameNow's only complaint, not enough pics of this girl. She is way too hot not to be photographed daily!
