Rangers Closing in on Easy Eddie
Here is the link for your enjoyment...
http://hotstove.mlblogs.com/archives/2009/02/rangers_zero_in_on_guardado.html
The Rangers are working hard to close a deal with reliever Eddie Guardado to fill one of their setup roles. Guardado pitched for the Rangers last year until being traded to the Twins on Aug. 25 and the club still has a high regard for him. A deal should get done in the next day or two.

Wash Job At Risk Per Rosenthal
His interview as part of Braves/LAD pregame, he said there is already a manager at risk. And that manager is Wash. Said Wash got extended last year but that was before Nolan came on board.
Said that Hicks met with Wash before this road trip and said if team doesn't play better, 'changes would be made'. Rosenthal finished with Wash may not make it to May.
Haven't looked at website to see if he discussed there, but this is what I just saw.

Two Days at Ballpark
First time in Texas in a while. My opinion (yep kinda meaningless) on what I saw follows:
o Young is a very solid ballplayer, teammate; although I have concern if we can win consistently with him as our highest priced player; we need a Teix type; Young is a GREAT complimentary player and I sure hope I am wrong (don't get me wrong, he had a very good two days and recent month and heck several years for that matter and I really like him as a career Ranger)
o Byrd should be signed now; great attitude and ball jumps off his bat in games and in BP
o Sosa is loved by all the players and fans; I really don't think he is going anywhere (this year or next)
o Aki is a player I really hope they keep; the players love him and he smiles constantly
o Millwood was concerning; Frank was a little shaky
o Wilkerson tries extremely hard; can't ever fault him for that
o We miss Hank; interacted with the fans a lot around fireworks and was really happy to be at park
o Cat was really really bad today; Laird was bad yesterday and today...until the important HR
o Gagne has an aura; fun to watch (sad he will likely be gone)
o Interesting moment to watch: yesterday for half hour, Wash was on one knee hitting grounders to Ian at 2B before BP; hands on stilol in that area (IF defense)
o Pence is a player, big time; he is intimidating and when he gets stronger...wow
o The Boot actually isn't that bad looking of a trophy
Anyway, a great two days, big crowds, 2 wins, HRs, Aki, CJ (he was pumped up for his K today by the way), Gagne...awesome...and all without Teix and Hank...lot of fun
An interesting sequence today: no-hitter in 4th (I think) and Lamb comes up to plate and immediately asks to check the ball that Wright had in hand. Wright didn't like that. I wished he had hit him. He hit him later but I don't think that was intentional (if it was, not a very good time for it). Did the announcers mention anything?
