Shon Coleman Cancer in Remission!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shon's cancer is in remission....no cancer in the blood or bone marrow. This is truly amazing that it's gone into remission this early. He will continue light chemo treatments and will likely be in for a redshirt year, but unless it comes back, I think he will go on living a semi-normal life and will get to play football. Incredible.
According to Shon's Mother
"We are cancer-free!!! Shon had a bone marrow aspiration today and 0% cancer cells were detected in his marrow. When he entered the hospital 15 days ago he was at 60%. Blood is clear and marrow is clear. We're in remission on Day 15. Excellent news. God is so GOOD!!!!
He still has to follow his treatment plan, but this is an amazing feat!!! We're celebrating tonight.
Thank you for your continued prayer:-)"
Auburn Hires?
UTEP's Tony Barbee
Barbee coached the Miners to the Conference USA regular-season title with a record of 15-1 and was named the conference coach of the year in his fourth season. Barbee (82-52) improved the Miners from 14 to 19 to 23 to 26 wins. The Miners lost the C-USA championship game to Houston and then fell as a No. 12 seed to No. 5 Butler in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Barbee was set to interview with DePaul later this week.
Barbee replaces Lebo, who got the East Carolina job last week, at a time when Auburn is upgrading its program with a brand new facility.
Barbee was coached by Kentucky coach John Calipari at UMass and now will go against his former mentor in the SEC. Barbee gives Calipari a former assistant in the league. Fellow rival Billy Donovan at Florida has two former assistants as head coaches in the SEC in John Pelphrey (Arkansas) and Anthony Grant (Alabama).
UTEP may look to former Miners assistant Tim Floyd, a former head coach at USC and a current New Orleans Hornets assistant, as well as former UTEP, Texas A&M and Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie and Sam Houston State's Bob Marlin. Arkansas assistant and former Arizona State head coach Rob Evans and Marquette assistant Tony Benford may also be in the mix.

Not the time to get too upset but,.......
http://realistrants.blogspot.com/2010/03/auburn-super-recruit-injured.html
"Sources close to The Realist Nation chimed in early this morning and have stated that Auburn QB recruit, Cam Newton, may have a shoulder injury similar to the one former Tiger Chris Todd suffered. The story is that legendary orthopedic doctor, James Andrews, has looked at Newton and if the shoulder will not heal itself during spring practice, the 6'6" 240 lb. QB will be operated on immediately for the fall. If the story is accurate, and The RN is working feverishly to verify, then Auburn could be without the services of the once Florida Gator for several months. Stay tuned to The Realist Nation as this story unfolds."
Fingers crossed that this isnt serious
Lache Seastrunk saga
I found this on the same site as the other recruting info. Although this could be 100% false i would let the readers decide what stand to take concerning how we were so hot on Lache Seastrunk then suddenly overnight he was no longer on our radar or his. (remember the kid that said What's up, Nick Saban? Wait 'til we get here)
Needless to say after that statement i liked the kid alot.
"I know you guys have been wanting me to spill the beans on what I know to be the Lache Seastrunk saga. Thanks to everyone for being patient as I never want to talk about recruits in a negative way, especially until signing day is over. A lot of you have speculated on what you thought the situation was and have been pretty close to being on the money. It wasn't as scandalous as it might seem. Again, I just didn't think I needed to say anything negative about Lache until he had signed his letter of intent.
First, there were rumors about Lache having a handler and our coaches backed off because of that. To my knowledge that isn't true. I don't know for a fact that he didn't have a handler but I never heard anything about it during his recruitment.
What I know to be true is this. Lache wanted to come to AU. He was AU all the way and recruited for us for a while. At one point, around Big Cat weekend he was the guy. He was in love with us and we (our coaches) were in love with him. However, at some point during this recruiting year Lache started rubbing the other commits the wrong way. I was told by a couple of different commits that "Lache really just doesn't fit in with us and none of us really like him". He was a hot shot...a prima donna if you will and somebody that was more about "me" than team.
At one point I know that the coaches talked to some of our commits and said if you don't want him on the team and yall don't think he fits in with what we're trying to do, then go help us get his replacement. At that point there was a full court press on for Marcus Lattimore and to our commitments credit, they did all they could do to get Latt to AU. There was a time (and I eluded to this last night) that we were leading for Latt and if signing day had been that day he would have signed with us. It stinks that it didn't happen because I believe our coaches thought all along that we would get 2 of the 3 RB's. Dyer was #1 on their board. They wanted him first and then one of the others next. The players didn't want Lache so they put the full court press on Latt to try and help the coaches.
Now, to the coaches credit they are not going to bring in a player that is going to disrupt the team aspect of what we've got going on. I don't care who he is or how good he is. Our coaching staff knows what they are doing on the recruiting trail. They have put together a class this year that is all about family and togetherness. This group of signees we got today are already a family. It's the most awsome thing I've ever seen. We've seen this happen on a smaller scale, like when all of the OL signed a couple years ago and they were all like brothers. But never, in my opinion anyway, have we seen a staff put together a class that is like that from top to bottom. This class is something special and so is this staff and they are all pulling in the same direction. If you aren't going to be a part of that or bring attention to yourself you aren't going to be a part of what we've got going on.
It's really sad to me because I still believe that at this moment right now Lache wishes he could be at AU. But he showed out to much. Made himself the self proclaimed leader of the bunch before ever touching a football at AU and it rubbed all of the other guys the wrong way. In essence, he was vetoed out by the team.
So like I said. Nothing really scandelous as far as money or any of that kind of stuff but it should make every AU fan very proud to know that our coaches are not only going out and putting together great recruiting classes but they're not going to have any prima donnas. It's going to be all about team if you want to play at AU under Chizik."
There it is
Mark Murphy Talks AU 2010 Class (Good read )
Mark Murphy is the writer for ITAT...Auburn's Scout site. These are his notes that he emailed me and some friends from the talk Mark gave. There have been a couple variations passed around from other people who attended and you guys and gals have probably heard most of it but I just thought I would pass along the info. Enjoy and WAR DAMN EAGLE.

MARK MURPHY TALKS AU 2010 CLASS IN ATLANTA 2/5/10
* Shon Coleman ? Don’t believe everything you’ve heard. He was taking every single visit for a good reason. He was not sold on us and honestly probably still isn’t. He didn’t decide until midnight the day before signing day. Credit Jake Holland’s mom with the assist for this one. She made calls late to Coleman’s mom and Coleman’s mom basically told her son where he was going to go. Truth be told, he didn’t seem overly happy to be here… Its happened before, though. Some kids don’t fall in love with their school until they’ve been in the system a little while.
* Tunde Fariyike ? Started playing football very late. Dad did NOT want him playing college football at all. He was an obstacle in his recruitment for a while. Coaches had to keep working on him. Dad wanted him at an academic school concentrating on academics only. Duke was mentioned as his dad’s favorite. But once Tunde stepped foot on campus…saw the girls….it was over! He stood up for himself and told dad, “It’s decided and over. I’m going to Auburn!” Haa!
* Antonio Goodwin - Had Trooper Taylor extremely anxious over his commitment. He’s a hard guy to get a hold of because he couldn’t afford a cell. We didn’t have contact with him for days at a time and we never felt 100% until his signature came in. Georgia was always a huge player here. Apparently Troop went nuts when his letter came through. He likes his ability a ton and worked on him a lot.
* LaDarius Owens ? Was singled out as the one most influential player recruiting other players for this year’s class. Jake Holland was, too. But apparently Owens takes the award here.
* Trovon Reed ? Has been 100% to Auburn for a very long time. No question about his commitment. His announcement on his mother’s birthday was for a reason. He was solid! He was asked by Jason Caldwell at one point to describe the pressure he was going through from LA fans and he just said, “Well, sometimes you just gotta have some balls and do what you want to do” They like his mental toughness. He’s not afraid .… His high school coach was blatantly pressing him to go to LSU. Murphy said it was the most egregious display of pressure he had ever seen.
* Jeremy Richardson ? Incredibly sad story here. Apparently he’s lost his mom, dad, and one of his grandparents in just the last six months. Heard he is a great kid. Comes from absolutely nothing. Dirt poor. But Troop has made a promise among his circle of friends that he will take care of him on a very personal level. Even his wife has made the same commitment. Troop is saying he will take him into his own family if he has to. Mark Murphy seemed to choke up from talking about him. Sounds like a tough situation, but he should be ok at AU…provided he makes his grades. I believe he’s in a little bit of trouble there but working hard.
* Ed Christian ? Extremely mean son of a B***h!! And we love it!
* Jeffrey Whitaker ? Rock wanted this kid extremely BAD. Lemonier , too actually. Rock told Murphy that he doesn’t beg much but he begged Whitaker. And he begged Lemonier. He said you guys have no idea how BADLY we need you right now. Guess it worked. Whitaker is a character. Probably the best for sound bites in the class. He’s very smart. Natural leader. Can challenge very soon.
* Rozell Gayden ? Monster. Chizik desperately flew to Minnesota (where he’s actually from) to get there before he made a commitment to Cal. They had a terrible blizzard at the time and other coaches flights were cancelled. Chiz told the airline to just get him close and he’d drive the rest of the way. That’s what he had to do. He thinks that being there last among all the others may have made made the difference.
* Cameron Newton - Story here is just a little surprising. When asked if he’d be the man this year Mark said he “could” be. No definite. He did say he’s a gym freak. He’s bigger than listed. He’s always trying to get kids out to throw and catch. Malzahn has a man crush on him. He loves what he can do at the position but accuracy will be the main key. He’s a natural leader. Kids like him. But when asked which QB Mark Murphy liked he said Trotter. He said Trotter was smart. Could make plays with his legs and was accurate. Wanted all to remember he almost had the red shirt taken off him mid season. It was only his knee injury that held him back. Malzahn likes Trotter a lot, too. Tyrik is out of the dog house now. He sat for issues with going to class and not taking his business on the field seriously enough. Seems to be back on track now, though. Just needs to grow up a little.
* Jake Holland ? Thinks he could be the backup this year. Smart kid with great instincts. Heavy recruiter this year as all know. He comes from money so he would grab less fortunate signees and bring them down for visits. He did this for Jeremy Richardson a number of times. He was instrumental in getting these kids bonding early. His dad “The 90” was actually a bama football player. He turned on the tide when they showed no interest in him early like AU did. The 90 loves this staff and lets everyone he comes in contact with know what’s going on here. He’s going to be great for program building for 4-5 years.
* Cory Lemonier ? Coaches sweated this one til the last min, too. They promised him they would not sign another DE in the early going and then took Bonomolo. It just took staying with him and convincing. He’s another very smart kid. He was promised by FSU that he would play immediately and possibly start. Auburn told him they loved him but he’d have to compete just like everyone out there. He didn’t buy FSU’s $**t so here he sits with us.
* Lattimore- Truth be told, if it weren’t for Latt’s mom and Colemon’s mom, Shon would NOT be here and Lattimore would be. Mark Murphy knew he was a SC commit when he texted him the day before to find out if he should come in town to do a story and he got no response. He was always good about getting back to him within 30 min. Just not this time. He dodged the question. His heart really was with AU but his mom and Spurrier pressed him. He’s a super kid. No foul play…everything was straight up.
* Lache ? Hinted that it was true that some kids didn’t think his personality was fitting in. Coaches backed off of him, not the other way around. His heart was with AU but it just wasn’t going to be.
* Coach Thig ? One of the best coach personalities around. Bad ass recruiter. Maybe the best we’ve got to send in to any kid’s house. And that’s taking nothing away from the others.
* Funnny story about Troop & Loop (may have heard already) ? Luper said that even though they lived together for 5 months, he still had never seen him sleep. He said he’d get up at 3am for a glass of water and Troop would be up on the couch watching nat geo screaming, “man you seen these damn hump back whales?? “ Or he’d get up a 5am to work out and he’d already be up. He’s just got a freakish motor.
* Said our best recruiters were Troop, Luper, Thig, and Grimes (surprisingly to me)
** The story about Trovon Reed driving to Miss to fax his LOI was totally fabricated by the Inside the AU tigers staff just as in internal joke. Somehow it got out to local papers, like stories sometimes do. Murphy said, “I understand how the local and state journalists could have gotten it, but I never knew Sports Illustrated listened in on Inside the AU Tigers staff” …haa! Just patting themselves on the back a little with that joke. But SI did actually pick it up and run with it.
**Chizik’s comment about Michael Dyer and his practical joke was true. Dyer did call in the day before signing day to tell them he had a change of heart and was switching his commitment to another school. He's dead now, I bet. He'll be in the early morning workout group for a year...haa!
** Luper said expect another “Big Cat Weekend” this year and another “Tiger Prowl”….but they've got something else in mind to add this year. It’s not complete in details, but we can expect another similar original splash. Some of their ideas have to be tested well for Chiz to put it in motion but he is completely on board with all the creative recruiting. Don’t expect that to change at all.
** We should be somewhat worried about losing Malzahn when his time comes. He does want to be a head coach, BUT… he wants to go somewhere he can succeed. He’s ok with being patient and working his tail off here. Louisiana Tech was just one of those places he felt he could not succeed , so that was never a legit concern. Should he start getting real offers, he will most likely listen.
** Luper thinks Dyer is an absolute stud. Some think he's a good, solid back but Luper says he knows what makes a great running back and he's got it. He loves his durability. He said his thighs are massive, much like Rudi Johnson's were. Luper loves his ability to make the first guy miss and his ability to break tackles. Murphy said he should actually push for the starting role this year...whether he gets it or not is tough, but expectations will be high for him. -- One guy asked about "throw in's" in recruiting and how they worked. Murphy actually named a few in distant classes. Then he asked if Mosely was a Dyer throw in. I personally think he is just a little even though he has some talent. Murphy said "No, Mosely has his own set of skills, even though they don't know where they actually fit in yet."
** DJ Howard - Definitely was watching closely to see what happened with our recruitment of others. And it's understood. What happened here is that once he made his Clemson visit Auburn told him no more visits. It's getting too close to crunch time. He took a trip to Kentucky anyway after he promised not to visit anyone. Once he returned and AU got word that was it. We wouldn't promise him a scholly anymore. For days leading up to signing day, Howard called coaches frequently...actually begging for a spot back. We had already moved on. Ryan Smith got his scholly. Which works out better for us in Murphy's mind. Howard is a good RB but Smith is a better safety than Howard is a RB to Murphy. Higher need for his position as well.
** Aaron Savage - looks great right now. His problem has been that he actually goes too hard. He's a bit of a head hunter and needs to just make the tackle sometimes and not try to put their lights out. So far so good in that department. El Torro is in the exact same boat. But he's maturing as a person and as a player. Expect better things out of him to come
** Mike McNeil - Will actually push Bates pretty hard for that starting spot. Murphy thinks the competition is a very good thing. Everyone in the room laughed when the thought of Bates not starting was posed. But Murphy says just wait and see. It will depend on Bates improvement from year 1-2 because McNeil is pretty damn good. Will be one of the best battles in the spring and fun to watch in his opinion.
** This is one of the most unique classes in a little while. We could field two teams, Offense & Defense, with all these guys. They're calling it the Noah's Ark of signing classes. There is basically two of everything, then throw in a punter, kicker, and long snapper. So many guys can play more than one position very well and have. EX- Trovon Reed is getting enough attention as a DB that many are saying his highest potential lies there. Troop isn't going to give him up that easily though. He promised him he would have the chance to be explosive in this "O" because we can use him on the end-arounds, wildcat, slot, wide, etc.... But to repeat, this class is different because of so much versatility. Even with the line guys. One of the most impressive factors is how smart so many of these kids are. There's a low level of incompetency in this bunch. It's also full of leaders. And with the way so many have already bonded by spending time together, look for this class to set the example for how classes are to work and act in the future.
Dansby Vs Finebaum
Oh My! The outrage over the game
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/12756617/tides-latest-national-title-deserves-an-asterisk
Congratulations to the University of Alabama for winning the 2010 BCS national championship.*
Yes, that's an asterisk. If there was ever a title winner that deserved one, it's Alabama. Go ahead and stomp your feet and cry and pout 'Bama Nation (the death threats start in three, two, one ...) but it's true
Alabama had this game gift-wrapped when arguably the best quarterback in college football was lost to a shoulder injury just five plays into the contest. It was a chaotic piece of fate tied together with a nice little bow for the Crimson Tide. Gifts after Christmas are always nice.
The final 37-21 score is highly deceiving. The game was much closer and there's no question if Colt McCoy had played, this contest would've featured a completely different texture. If he'd been able to finish, the Longhorns might've won by 10 points.
Alabama won the game but McCoy's broken shoulder is the co-champion. After that stunning injury, all the Crimson Tide had to do was stand over a half-dead body and wait for it to expire.
"It certainly changed the game," said Nick Saban of the hit on McCoy.
"After Colt got hurt, we were obviously limited in what we could do," Mack Brown said.
The Texas coach added even more to Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com, explaining the Longhorns would've easily beaten Alabama with a healthy McCoy. Brown is right. McCoy said on several different occasions in interviews after the game that the Longhorns were about to dominate and would have had he not been injured.
These aren't Texas coaches and players being bad losers. This is the reality of the game.
We'll just never know how good this Alabama team truly is. We'll never, ever know because of McCoy's absence. Indeed, it's possible there's never been a luckier championship team since the BCS format was adopted.
For all practical purposes after McCoy went down, the contest was basically over. McCoy's replacement, Garret Gilbert, would go on to complete 1 of 10 passes for -2 yards in the first half. It's not Gilbert's fault. Just a short time ago, Gilbert's biggest concern was what color he should wear to his high school prom. One busted McCoy shoulder later and he's facing Saban's defense.
Congratulate Alabama? I guess. If we must.
Winning is winning, some will say, and that's true. Alabama's victory still feels asterisked because they didn't get the Longhorns' best. Instead they got some sort of faux carbon copy.
Injuries are a part of the sport but when the starting quarterback, the most important player on the Texas team, is lost so early, it completely throws off the competitive balance of the contest. There's no way to truly tell which is the better team.
Alabama's defense was the difference maker but much of the rest of the Crimson Tide team was unspectacular even with McCoy's absence. Alabama's quarterback, Greg McElroy, was a non-factor, throwing for 58 yards. Running back Mark Ingram was solid but not eye popping and missed a chunk of the game with his own injury. The Alabama defense was very good but it didn't face McCoy, and Gilbert completed just 15 of 40 passes and threw four interceptions. The Alabama special teams unit was a disaster.
Early on, the Longhorns had Alabama discombobulated. Saban tried a disastrous fake punt that failed. As the offense became bogged down, some Alabama players started to argue among themselves. One Crimson Tide player had to step between fellow teammates James Carpenter and Mike Johnson who were yelling at each other after a busted play. Wide receiver Marquis Maze had words for McElroy (and others) after another moment of miscommunication.
This was also not one of Saban's better days. He made some -- ahem -- curious calls. The fake kick was one and Saban early in the game changed the Alabama offense to a more wide open style instead of emphasizing Ingram. Later in the game, Saban tried a long kick, up 24-13, instead of pinning Texas deep in its own territory.
Then Gilbert actually started moving the ball (slightly) late in the game. Here was a freshman figuring out Saban even if that moment was fleeting.
Saban has won two titles at two different schools. He's likely moved past Urban Meyer as the best coach in college football right now, even if his coaching performance against the Longhorns wasn't exactly Bear Bryant-ish.
He deserves credit for that and Saban will get it in the coming months. This won't be the last time we hear from Saban or his team. The Crimson Tide will be a force for some time as long as Saban stays.
He'll first be remembered for bringing glory back to Alabama by winning another Crimson Tide national championship.*"
I for one cant help but feel back for Colt passed up for the heisman 2 years and a row and unable to play in his most important game of his College Career Good luck to him!
Cameron Newton will play for Auburn
Yep ladies and gentlemen Auburn has snagged the Best JUCO Quarterback this year. Cameron Newton has just made the announcement.
Now lets see what the team does with a great quarterback managing the game.
He has two years of eligibility remaining.
He will also count towards last years signing class so we will be able to sign our usual 25 this year.
War Eagle every one and Happy New Year! Beat Northwestern!
Darvin Adams Not on Coaches All SEC Team?
I guess im just trying to figure this out? Not picking on Julio Jones apparently he has great blocking abilitys but when it comes to catching balls i have seen him drop more catchable passes then make great catches.
Darvin Adams 48 receptions 855 yards 17.8 per recep 10 Touch downs
Julio Jones 42 573 13.6 4
AJ Green 47 751 16 6
Shay Hodge 63 1023 16.2 8
Brandon LaFell 52 705 13.6 10
To me it looks like he is atleast the 2nd best WR in the SEC
Here is the list decide for your self Bold names are Auburn players You would think since we had one of the best offenses there would be more offensive players on the list? But im glad False start Ziemba made the list.

Trovon Reed
Auburn may be on the verge of picking up another big-time commit with 4-star receiver Trovon Reed set to announce his decision
Just thought i would throw it out there we are still making moves. I am very impressed with what the coaches have showed us on the field and through recruting.
According to ESPN:
Reed is one of the most explosive and sudden prospects this class has to offer. He plays as a wing/slot in a run-oriented option scheme where he is asked to carry the ball far more than he receives it, but his open-field run skills are elite. He has good size at 6'0" 172 lbs
Eric Smith AND Eltoro Freeman
Will rejoin the football team this week for the Mississippi State game.
I wonder if he has worked on his ability to keep the ball in his hands. Either way we now have 3 good running backs
I believe it was last year against Southern Mississippi that he had a couple fumbles. But i do remember his ability to run through people. I expect a stronger runner add that to the existing backs i think we cover alot of aspects. From gap speed to a Rudi like charge up the middle for 2-3
Chizik cleans house
According to www.al.com Coach Chizik told all the assistant coaches to look for employment. Also that they will become a "run first team" and that "last time he stood in this room he was 13 - 0 and expects to be there again"
This is all nice but talk is cheap. Im looking forward to a better season of Auburn football but i will be hesistant for the next couple years. I agree with every one i was pissed and distrubed by the choice in coach but now its happened, like it or not. He was a great defensive coordinator for us so lets see what he can do for Auburn. So far he is 0-0 for us Lets pull together and get rid of the "Bammer mentality" lets give him a chance. Auburn has always had to work for respect. It was never given to us. Lets get to work!
