How about this instead of either a playoff or the maintenance of the current system:

National Championship Game: BCS #1 vs. #2
Rose Bowl: #3 vs. #4
Fiesta Bowl: #5 vs. #6
Orange Bowl: #7 vs. #8
Sugar Bowl: #9 vs. #10

The four static bowls could shift pairings each year to share interest and ratings. There would be no conference ties or quotas or caps. If your conference doesn't have a Top 10 team, your conference doesn't make the BCS. If three mid-major schools are in the Top 10, then three mid-major schools make the BCS. If the Big XII South has four teams in the Top 10 with a North team in there as well, then five Big XII teams make the BCS.

You can't really say conference strength affects this much. The SEC will have two Top 10 teams this year barring something catastrophic, and the Big XII South could have four and Missouri could sneak in with a Big XII CG win and some other teams losing. If USC and Penn State can chew up their weak conferences then they'll still make it.

It's simple.

From that K-State game through today, Oklahoma is 4-8 against teams ranked in the top 15 of the Associated Press poll at the time. (And Stoops can thank God for Missouri, which has accounted for half his four victories.)

Five of the eight losses have come as a favorite.

No kidding, and no link yet. What do you even need to read?

Don't worry about giving up 115. It just wasn't that important. If that starters had played the whole game, I think 200 would've been possible.

Tech scored a lot because ECU played a full press the entire game. Possessions lasted just seconds, and the accuracy of Tech's shooters tonight was impeccable.

Only Tyree Graham didn't score, going 0-4.

10 players for Tech in double digits in points.

Seriously. That just happened.

Nowhere have the offensive numbers been more mind-boggling than in West Texas, where Texas Tech has led the nation in passing five of the past six years.

Tech coach Mike Leach is credited for influencing the adoption of the spread throughout the Big 12, where teams have come to adopt the motto, "If you can’t stop them, try to outscore them."

If you could wish one storyline on another team……it would be Texas Tech reading the script of Yellowbeard all season long, with the Red Raiders taking us all on a half-cuddle, half-rape on the way to a national championship. Mike Leach with burning hair twists would be boss, too.
