Packers @ Bears 2nd Half Thread

Too lazy to type 75 words, so I will just copy and paste the original game thread.

It's getting to the point where we have very few things to look forward to.  We aren't out of the playoff race yet, but we need a lot of things to go our way.  We don't have a first day draft pick to look forward to.  What we do have is Packer week.  The Bears gave away the previous game on a late touchdown.  The Packers, after a rough middle is on the upswing and are in the thick of the wildcard race.  What a nice thing to hang on this season to help keep them out of it.

Favre says no to the Vikings

It's breaking news on ESPN.  The only thing I really have to say is Ahahahahhahahahahaha!  I kinda feel for the Vikings, because Favre is such a douche.  But at the same time, the Vikings are getting exactly what they deserve.  I don't know how Tavaris Jackson can trust the Vikings organization.  I think Favre left the Vikings in shambles.  Here is your chance to have a laugh at the Vikings expense, I know I am.

Jonathan Sanchez throws a no hitter...

You're probably wondering....who in the world is he?  Well I don't know either, but he pitched the first no hitter of 2009.  This isn't Cubs related, but it's still an accomplishment worth noting.  The kid threw 9 innings with only 110 pitches.  He had 11 strikeouts and no walks.  The only runner the Padres got on was due to an error.  So the kid was one error away from having a perfect game.  And the best part was that the only reason the guy got to pitch was because Randy Johnson got injured.  I just wanted to give this guy some props.  So congratulations and I hope him all the success in the world....except against the Cubbies.

This looks amazing in HD. I guess it's a reminder of how awesome Rose is and why he deserved ROY. Congrats to Rose.

Some praise for Deron on ESPN by JA Adande

I was just reading through the NBA section of ESPN and came upon this very nice article talking about DWill by Mr. Adande.

It began with a quick e-mail to Deron Williams after yet another of his impressive performances, a query about what drives him.

"I hate to lose!!!!!!" he responded. "That's it."

I don't think this is meant as a comparison article, but I'd definately choose DWill over CP3.  It just seems to me that he has more of an ability to make everyone better and play at a higher level.

Terrell Owens released! Should the Bears Consider?

Terrell-owens_medium

This just in, ESPN has reported that Terrell Owens has been released by the Cowboys.  Do the Bear's organization go after him?  Can you just imagine a Kyle Orton-TO tandem?  Those were actually joke questions and I pray to god that we don't pick him up.  This guy is talented, but just way too much ego to be put on a team for a sustained period of time.  But seriously, who really is out there left for us to sign other than Boldin?

Astros still complaining about the games at Miller Park

I was just watching ESPN's Outside the Lines and the Astros just won't let it go.  Frankly, I'm getting tired of the Astros and all this talk about how much Bud Selig screwed them.  I thought they screwed themselves by not having a better alternative plan in place sooner.  They need to just accept that they really are not that good of a team and should not have made the playoffs.  Good teams find a way to win no matter where they play.  Having a -34 run differential doesn't help their case either.  I read a post from another blog site that summed everything up involving this incident very well.

Astros are only three out of the wild card

I was just thinking how bad I would feel for the Brewers to have traded away their future for the present and not even make the playoffs.  If the Astros continue to play as well as they have, the Brewers can easily be last year's Mets, except that this is for the wildcard.  This raises the next most logical question, who would you fear more?  On one hand, you have the Brewers with two legitimate aces pitching games one and two whereas the Astros are just on the hottest streak at the right time.  Too bad I can't add a poll....so what are your insights?

Friday Night Tailgate

Has anybody seen Friday Night Tailgate on the big ten network?  I watched it for the first time last week and I found it to be absolutely hilarious.  Maybe it was just the particular episode last week at the University of Illinois, as I am an Illinois alum, I couldn't stop laughing.  The reporters are around 21-25 and it's like watching a college ran tv station.  The jokes are corny, but still funny nonetheless.  The only thing that was missing was someone that looked like Erin Andrews.

Olympics discussion thread

I didn't see one of these up yet, and hell, it only happens every four years.  Discuss what you want, but as always, try not to be rude to others for having differing opinions.

Here are my opinions so far about these Olympics:

*Phelps has been absolutely amazing and dominant at all the events he's been in

*The Men's Olympic gymnastic team won bronze and their attitude was absolutely hilarious.  They reminded me of a group of frat guys.

*The Women's gymnastic team got silver while China got gold, it was well deserved based on performance, but I wish the US could have won to put cheating China in their place.

*US men's basketball and softball have been absolutely dominant.  They play Greece today and look for the US to make a statement by dominating them.

*Handball is a badass sport.
