Am I the only one who thinks this whole "rebuild" is a failure?

Better yet, wasnt ever a rebuild at all? And I put all of the blame on Ted Leonsis. He likes to always bring up the example of the OKC Thunder on how he wants to build the team, through the draft and develop all young guys. But what OKC did, and what Ted failed to do, was actually rebuild. OKC's owner(s) cleaned house completely when they bought out the Sonics. They brought in a new GM, who shipped out all the old players and he brought in a new coaching staff. OKC's ownership group changed the culture completely and started from ground zero.

Ted came in, and tried to salvage everything that made this team a failure in the past. He kept Ernie, the man responsible for the disaster of a team. He kept Flip Saunders, who obviously wanted nothing to do with rebuilding a team. He kept Arenas, Blatche, Nick Young, and Javale Mcgee.

Even better, he changes the colors and makes a new jersey and has the audacity to use the slogan "new traditions" when all the people who were associated with the losing traditions are still present and in charge.

The fact that we have 8 (EIGHT!!!) first round picks out of the last 3 drafts and only 2 of them seem to be integral pieces moving forward is a testament to our lack of an "eye" for talent at the GM position and our lack of ability to develop talent with our coaching staff.

I associate this with Ted's other franchise. Ted is a Caps guy, always will be. He just bought the Wizards for a side project, and is not willing to invest enough time and money to lay waste to the old pitiful ways of this to really build a contender. Making trades like the one for Ariza and Okafor may have made us a better team in the short term, but its only made us more and more mediocre and hapless for the long term.

Until we fire Ernie and the coaching staff, this team is doomed to the failures it has always had.

When anyone talks draft on here they're always talking about top 5 prospects like Muhammad, Bennett, Noel, and Zeller. But what do we do if we keep winning and we dont get lucky and catch a top 3 pick? and pick around 8 or 10. This is the territory where i get nervous when Grunfeld is the one behind our decision making. Who are some of the prospects that you are looking at?

Poythress? Isaiah Austin? Glenn Robinson III? Oladipo?

I like Porter a lot but i dont think he'll fall to 8, i'm just nervous that Grunfeld will grab his signature Euro and draft Gobert or Saric. What say you?
