Candid Caleb Joseph no longer?

As many of you know, a story about it was published in the Sun I believe, Caleb Joseph catcher for the Frederick Keys was authoring a blog for a few months, calebjoseph.wordpress.com. It was pretty good particularly because Caleb seemed liked a real nice guy.

Anyway, it is down and I have a feeling Caleb has been removed permanently from the blogosphere. It often happens that bosses aren't so keen on their employees blogging. Insert analogy here referencing a slippery slope and dirtry laundry. Maybe Caleb has been directed to pursue his blogging ambitions through the sanctioned MASN mouthpiece.

But maybe some of you closer to the Frederick fan base know more than I do.  Maybe there was a particularly lurid post. Maybe young Caleb crossed the line, wrote something inappropriate. Perhaps something like "there is a guy on my team, we'll call him Rilly Bowell and he is a light hitting ninny, bane of the entire franchise."  Yoiks! that is probably how rumors get started. :)

We all know about our fabulous arms on the farms. But it is always nice to be told again. This is an update of the preseason list.
Weiters was #1 then and he remains so now.
Matusz at #5, up from 23
Tillman at #9, up from 29
Arrieta at #46, up from 131

Huff to the Mets... what should we get?

But hey I think Huff did his part in this series to sell himself as the clutch hitting first baseman to put a marginal team over the top. Too bad he could not make that basket catch.

Now what is fair value for the Man-Horse. Technically at this point it is a (late)first round draft pick and a supplemental pick. In reality it is probably a second tier prospect. Does anyone have any input or likes in the Mets system. I like the idea of that 16 year old venezuelan shortstop. But he may be untouchable.

2009 MLB Draft...And With #5 Pick..

I realize I may be jumping the gun a bit here. With the MLB draft scheduled for June 9, it is still two weeks away. But does anybody have any info on the likely suspect/savior? There is not much news out there on the interwebs right now beyond the comings and goings of the uber-armed Steven Strasbourg. Though I have also read that the heretofore unsignable Aaron Crow may be penciled in around the five spot. For those that don't know Crow (RHP Missouri) was drafted at #9 last year and went unsigned by the Gnats.

In the past 8 drafts (moving in reverse order) the O's have drafted from positions #4, #5, #9, #13, #8, #7, #4, and #7.  Of these eight we have Nick, Weiters, Matusz and maybe Snyder to show for premium pickings.  Is this good? 4 out of 8 sounds pretty good but I think I would have to run a comparative statistical analysis to really give an honest grade.

And of course there is my bias. I am probably being a little hopeful with that 4 out of 8 grade. At this point we really only have 1 out of 8.  So, throwing Snyder back, keeping the other three; Who could we have had if the team had chosen a little more wisely with those five picks?

How's this for the starting rotation 2009:

Zach Greinke, Tim Lincecum, Chris Volstad, Jered Weaver, Joba Chamberlain

:(

Anyhow I hope we pick a pitcher. And i hope he is awesome. On the bright side, the last time we picked at #5 we got the prodigal son in shinguards.

Prepping for the Yanks

Tell me I am not wrong.

Counting on my fingers...Hendo tonight, Berg tomorrow, Eaton friday, Guts Saturday

Saturday against the Evil Empire of Pretension is the date I will be making the long drive OPACY.  I only get to go to one game this year (probably) and I have been praying no rain and no Eaton. So it looks like i got Guts. Good on ya God. Now if you can just give me a warm dry evening at the harbor...

On related notes, does anybody have anything witty/abrasive/inappropriate I should be yelling at Tex or A-rod? Or any spare tix that you would rather not see fall in to the hands of some bronx talking numbnuts?
