A's now Black and Orange
I hadn't gone to the Official Web Site in awhile but to my horror, insted of Green and Gold, their colors have changed to disgusting colors. What is going on with this franchise? For 41 seasons we have embraced the teams colors as opposed to names on the back (BS). How many more times can they diss us? No radio coverage, a lousy TV contract, no 3rd deck, etc. Wolffie complains that we don't show up, but loyality is a 2 way street.

Family Night in Stockton
My Wife and I took my son and 2 grandchildren to the Ports game last night. I had been looking forward for over a year to seeing Banner Island Park. We ordered tickets on Friday afternoon. The seats were behind the 3rd base dugout, 3 rows up. Price; $10/ticket with NO SERVICE CHARGE! Parking was $5, but the lot was closed for a car show so we parked by the Arena for free (shorter walk than from most of the lots in Oakland). The food prices were reasonable. But the biggest difference from an A's game is the atmoshpere. There is so much going on that the kids (G-9, B-6) were never bored. What I liked was the fact that Guest Services were friendly and acted like they were happy to see us as opposed to the "seat nazi's" at the Mac. As an entertainment value, you really can't beat a Ports game and you deal with real fans, not Skankee or Blowsox idiots.

Second class citizens
I for one am tired of the incompetence of Ken Priess and his whole department of Media and Communications. There is no reason for the lack of radio and tv coverage of the A's. It is time for the Fans to let Mike Crowley and Lew Wolff know that we are tired of this BS. The A's radio coverage is less than weak. If you are in the Sacramento Valley, you get butkus. If you don't have Comcast, you get the Giants. In Solano County the radio coverage stinks. I love my A's and I am tired of being dissed. I will be sending a letter to the A's letting them know about their incompetence. Please join me and pull a JERICHO NUTS camapign.

Fremont Move Delayed
According to an article in the Sacramento Bee, Keith Wolff stated that the move to Fremont would be delayed until 2012 unless the Environmental Report was approved by the end of the year; which is unlikely. I, for one am happy and hope a deal can be brokered with the City and County to build a new stadium on the Colisem property. With the announcement that a private investor wants to build an NFL stadium in the LA area, it cerrtainly seems plausible that Al Davis is drooling at a chance to return to a more lucrative LA market.
With Bart, the Nimitz and AMTRAK, Oakland is perfect. Sure the W's would complain about the temporary loss of parking until the Mauseleum was demolished, but the long term benefits would offset this. The biggest hurdle is the Bonds issued to finance Al's folley.

Baseball and Golf
There are many similarities between the 2 sports. Both are played in the most beautiful settings. You are surrounded by a great expanse of freshly mown grass and that aroma of the same. You are envious of the turf, wishing that your lawn looked that good. The fresh clean air (except for Sect. 119 which stinks of garlic fries) and gorgeous sunshine give you hope for what is to unfold. And then the game begins and with it comes the elation of great shots along with the greater frustration of bad plays, mishits and errors. Each of them is a catharsis. You can take out your frustrations in golf by whacking as hard as you can . and In baseball you can boo the umps or the opponents and somehow you always feel better. At the end of the day, I forget the 90 bad shots and only glory in the 1 or 2 good one. With baseball, I remember the mammoth HR shot of Cust and forget Crosby's flailing at sliders away every at bat. For each game I am hooked. It is an addiction, and win or lose, I will always come back with unbridled enthusiasm hope that the next time I will win.

Anyone at Papago
If you go to Papago, the A's put out a roster of who is assigned to each minor league team. You can find it by the front door to the clubhouse or just inside of the door on the left side in a letter holder. If anyone can get it and publish it, I would be eternally greatfull. I am a long term fan and a minor league freak.
