Darlington Infield Alert for 2009 !!!! We have had various answers on what time the infield would be open (two of our ticket holders were told 8AM like in Daytona). We just found out that the Darlington track will not let us onto the infield until 4PM. In 2008 we could begin enter at noon but if you weren’t in line early you sat in the “staging area” for hours.  In 2007, before the tunnel was built, you could enter at 10AM.

 

We are a group of 5 RV-ers who annually trek to Darlington for an infield experience. We pay a premium price to enjoy this racing weekend and we spend money while we are in Darlington in and out of the Raceway.  This is a fun mini-vacation for us, but Darlington Raceway is surely not making this easy.

 

After you have driven for hours to get to a race track, the last thing you need is to wait for hours to get to your spot. To keep from setting up in the dark, you will still have to arrive in the morning to establish your position at the gate. 

 

Southern Hospitality certainly doesn’t appear to be the venue for the infield at the Southern 500 Weekend. With the economy this tight, you would think Darlington with more treat fans with more respect.
