T-Mac Picks Louisville, Takes T-Will's Number
Not sure how I feel about him taking T-Will's number, but overall it's a pretty cool promotion. The whole "March is a Brotherhood" tagline is a little lame, and doesn't make sense, as there is really no time of the year that I am more selfish about my team's well being vs. another team's. However, I do think it's cool that they took the guys back and had them pick the college teams they'd like to be on now (obviously out of the limited number of choices they have under sponsorship by Adidas). Now, the real question. Who would you want starting at SF, T-Mac or T-Will?

It finally happened
"Louisville defensive coordinator Ron English will be announced as the new head coach at Eastern Michigan as soon as Monday, according to a report in the Detroit News. A source in the Louisville program told ESPN.com that English was in final negotiations with Eastern Michigan.
English, 40, just finished his first season guiding the Cardinals' defense. Before that, he was the defensive coordinator at Michigan under Lloyd Carr. Louisville's defense showed great improvement this season early on before giving up 98 points in its final two games after injuries thinned the unit."

Kragthorpe Says Last Game Can Showcase Team
here. Because "Final Game of Brutal Season to Resemble Irish Wake" just didn't flow.
I mean, seriously, who does he think he's kidding? Steve seems like he lives in a no-irony zone. How can he actually believe the words that he is saying in this press conference? As a design dude, let me tell you, putting your brand on national TV if your brand is hurting is NOT a good thing. We were on national TV last week, and we got smoked. I wonder what that did for the "U of L Football" brand?
If watching us play 11/12ths of our season wasn't enough to convince recruits to come to U of L, I don't see what one more game, against a similarly mediocre (though much better than us lately) team, can gain us.

Francisco, your time has come.
Sactown Royalty and ESPN:
Ron Artest has been traded to the Rockets for Donte Green, some other guy, a pick and come cash and did I mention DONTE GREEN. Cisco will be seeing significantly more minutes, and with Green, Kevin Miller and whoever else is on their team, the Kings should be pretty exciting to watch this season. I think with Artest gone, the way could be paved for a big big season for Francisco.
If anyone is currently unaffiliated with an NBA team or maybe looking to fill the hole in their heart where U of L football recently was, there is a clear answer as to who can slide neatly into that Cardinal-shaped void: The Sacramento Kings are far and away the most compelling team to watch in the NBA from a Louisville perspective, with Ron-Ron gone and Francisco almost certain to be breaking out right about the time the Fighting Kragthorpes are breaking down this fall. There is no reason not to jump on the Kings bandwagon now give yourself a glimmer of hope to see you through what will almost certainly be a long and dismal winter (except for Bilal Powell).

I Nominate Mike
Deadspin is doing their annual NCAA preview, and each team needs a blurb. I am, needless to say, completely unqualified. but Mike, or really any of you other witty folks who post around here, write U of L's so that it's funny, witty and a good representation of the Cards.

That's the post, there's a link in the article to show what past years' entries have been like.

First Recruit of 2009!
It's Mike Marra! YEAH!.... wait.. who? Yeah, anyway, this kid can apparently shoot the ball. Like, real good. 50%+ from three good. I'm actually very excited about this guy, having a lights out shooter that you can count on (sorry Will) would be nice. Hit the link down there to see an interesting article about the young man.

now THIS is a coach with a good siege mentality:
One thing that has always pissed me off about Kragthorpe is the way that he won't answer questions, but he continuously does it in a pathetic, passive-aggressive way.
Here, for your reference Steve, is how a good coach (Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United Soccer Club), executes the "Siege Mentality" to (hilarious, in my opinion) perfection when defending a player against an unfair question a reporter asked him:
Reporter: 'I asked [the player]...'
Ferguson: 'F***ing (inaudible) bastard.'
R: 'Don't talk to me like that.'
F: 'F**k off to you.'
R: 'Don't talk to me like that. Don't even think about it.'
F: 'Don't you think about it, you ****. F**k off. Right?'
R: 'Listen, are you going to do the interview in a professional manner or not? Do you want to do it or not?'
F: 'You f*****g be professional. You be professional. You're the one.'
R: 'I'm entitled to ask questions to the players... Cristiano gave the right answer.'
F: 'F***ing hell with your answers.'
R: 'Don't talk to me like that. Go away. If you want to behave civilly, fine. Don't talk to me like that.'
R: 'F**k off.' (door slams)
- END -
Ferguson might be a jerk, and a lot of press and fans from other teams don't like him in England, but his players and Manchester fans love him for the unapologetic way he conducts himself in defending his team.
Keep throwing people under the bus, Koach, you'll be there with them soon enough.
