Giambi better than Barton?
Does anyone really believe this old guy who hit .239 last year in a park built for left-handed hitters is going to be better than Daric Barton in 2009 in a pitchers park? This guy is washed up.....and seriously now that Burrell signed for 2 yrs at 16m.....dont you think it would be reasonable to sign Adam Dunn to the same type of deal? I would rather pony up a few more million for a better player than a guy who in my opinion will not even be an upgrade.....

Say NO to Giambi!!!
Not sure about the rest of you, but if we decided to sign Jason Giambi I know myself and plenty of other die hard A's fans will be disgusted and will resume activities that were malicious towards Giambi if he comes back to Oakland. This includes of course all-out booing and name-calling when at the stadium, but also is not limited to: throwing more Monopoly money with Steinbrenner's face on it, throwing nickels, dimes, and quarters, hey maybe even batteries. And really anything else you can imagine that would make his time here in Oakland miserable.
Does AN really want to see this guy back in green and gold? The way he left Oakland and then went on Letterman and talked about what a trashy city it is?? This can never be forgot and we have a reputation as A's fans to uphold and not forgive a guy who slammed our beloved city on national television and abandoned a great team for what he thought were greener pastures. Also, in terms of making this team better for 2009..I am not seeing it...losing out on Furcal pretty much means that the Angels will still have a better team than Oakland next year..and why waste resources on an aging guy when we can't win? We should let Barton play and find out if he is part of the future or not.
I know myself and plenty of friends will do our best to make life for Giambi miserable if he comes back.....but what about the rest of Athletics Nation? What will you do??

Trading Street?
I think the A's would have much to gain by acting on this idea. The fact that closers are so volatile and Billy Beane has proven he can find another one is just a nice foundation to start: But other advntages include the continue stickpiling of the farm system.
What is one thing the A's may still need in the future? A big time power source....and there is a team out there who may be desperate for a closer and a power source with a lack of a position. How about Street for Matt LaPorta? And maybe another player or two as that is how deals for proven major leaguers ususally happen. This would be such a great move for the long-term strategy for this franchise. Oakland would become legit title contenders for the next handful of years. With the great pitching now and on the way, Street can easily be replaced, and most likely even internally.
LaPorta is one idea? Any others? Thoughts?
