I was looking to see how out of whack Fields' demands were and came up with this list. I thought it was interesting enough information to share.

Adam Jones' New Club

I still read ESPN... So, here's a great article about Adam Jones, his attitude in the clubhouse and the clubhouse's attitude towards him. I love how the article makes no mentions of veterans stepping forward to make sure he knows his place. Sounds like he knows it pretty well- Starting center fielder with a cool clubhouse demeanor.

This, along with articles on GS' new role are the first two pangs of sadness I've felt since the Bedard deal became public. I never wanted to see those two go, but given the return I was generally okay with it all. I added a poll to see how people are feeling after the initial trade emotion has faded. I thought it was decent then and now.

My Season is Over.

My thoughts before tonight's game, after last night's game.

You know, I've stood by this team through a lot of crap. Normally, I would race home to make sure I was watching or had the radio on or whatever, but last night, something snapped.

I think every fan has that moment when they realize that they need to chill out and stop believing. My moment was when they announced the pitching change on the radio last night in the 9th and went to commercial. I was sitting in my car, believing that JJ was coming into the game to prevent the walk off disaster (I thought that becuase White, JJ and RRS were the only people left and RRS is probably spent and well, White sucks).

When they came back from the commercial and said that White was in, I went numb. I don't remember how I got to the grocery store, I don't really remember anything beyond the feeling that a little piece of me died. That piece was the season. As I put in my check for postseason tickets, a part of me is just looking forward to the refund and the fact I'll have a completely unused strip to frame on the wall.

Listened to the walk off walk and felt, actually truly felt, something sink. I've listened to, watched or followed on Gameday every game this season. After I realized that I was released from hope, I felt better and got on with my life. Today, I get on with my life and will check in with the game to see how bad, or perhaps, how good, it turns out, but ultimately, I am without concern for the season any longer.

Thanks for the season, Mariners. Good luck.

These were taken with my Nikon D80 with 18-200 VR lens. A did some heavy cropping and a bit of noise cleanup.

Snelling to Oakland?

According to Basedball Tonight, Snelling was traded by Washington for Oakland's Langerhans.

They also said Snelling "goes back to Oakland" and made some strange point about East Coast to West Coast and back again, but who knows what's going on.

It'll great to see him playing again in Seattle... too bad its for the wrong team.

Matsuzaka posting a hoax?

Given that the Sox paid 42m for a pitcher that would normally be a free agent in a year, I believe that they will extend Matsuzaka a very low contract offer-- something on the order of $10m/3 years. If he accepts it, hey, great, but if not, at least he's not going to be in pinstripes next year.

The problem is that this will likely burn the Sox from any chance that he would be willing to sign with them in the future, but they might be willing to live with that.

Either way, I expect Matsuzaka to be playing for the Lions next year because I think everyone agrees that nobody is worth $72m for three years, especially when he'll be worth something line $30-35m/3 years next year.
