Jets Prove The Raiders Are Not that Far Away
After watching the Jets play the Chargers today I was thinking The Raiders could make a jump into the playoffs just as easy as The Jets have.If you compare these two teams they have a lot in common, they both have good running games but the Jets have invested in a great o-line.They both have shut down corners with a lot of young defenders who play great when their offenses keep them off the field for extended periods so when the 4th quarter starts they still have something left in the tank.Other than a great o-line and a fresh new quarterback who is a football player who plays with fire and will only get better with time The Jets and Raiders are not that different.I still believe in my heart that this team of ours is not that far away ,it is just going to take a few moves in free agency and the draft to get to the next level.I will always be a firm believer that a great defense and a strong running game will get you to the playoffs most years.
I still want Gruden back
The more I watch Monday Night Football this year the more I miss Gruden's passion for the game.He brings an enthusiasm that has been missing in Oakland since his premature departure from these parts a while back.I have a feeling he will be Notre Dame's new coach next season but if he comes back to the NFL I hope it is with the Raiders and not the San Diego Chargers because I think he could get all this talent to play at a very high level and The Raiders don't want him coaching Phillip Rivers and The Chargers. Can you imagine how good they would be if they had Gruden instead of Norv Turner.Cable is ok as a coach but I think Gruden could get more out of this team.
