This season is not over. Lets all have some hope. Lets get everyone on this site together and rally the troops. This might sound really corny, or stupid but I had an idea. A lot of people on here including myself are very negative. Lets change that.
Every one please say one memory about the A's past or present that you really enjoyed. I will go first. When the A's beat the Blue Jays on AN day in 2006. Milton Bradley's walk off home run was amazing.
I devolped a slang that we should all use on here . Its called "wett." Wett is a bay area slang that people use to mean cool or "tight" here is the link to urbandictionary.com definition.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=+wett

everyone please start saying "that's wett" if something is good or "get wett" for example if Emil Brown is up with the bases loaded say "get wett"

LETS GO A'S!

If you were Billy

If you were Billy Beane what moves would you make? Who would you DFA? Who would you trade/aqquire? I decided to do this because im bored since there is no mlb ball the next couple days.

The first thing I would do is try and get some power. It does not seem like the A's are going to make the playoffs this year but I dont seem them doing it the next few years unless they can get some power

proposed trade: Joe Blanton and Travis Buck and Matt Murton For Jason Bay. The A's seem to have a lot of pitching depth so I would like to see this move.

Next I would try to trade Crosby. He is not good at offense or defense and is not a good player at all.

Proposed trade - Crosby and Huston Steet for Reid Brignac and Gabe Gross.

I would also trade Eric Chavez and Ryan Sweeney , cash and Gregorio Petit and player to be named later for Chase Headley the 3B prospect for the padres

finally I would DFA Jack Hannahan. I like how scrappy he is but I dont think he does much to help the team . So this would be my lineup

1. Mark Ellis 2B
2. Reid Brignac SS
3. Carlos Gonzalez CF
4. Jason Bay LF
5. Jack Cust DH
6. Chase Headkley 3B
7. Gabe Gross RF
8. Kurt Suzuki C
9. Daric Barton 1B

Rotation
Smith
Eveland
Gallagher
Duchesher
Gio Gonzalez

bullpen

casilla
cahill
Henry Rodriguez
Andrew Brown
Jerry Blevins
Brad Ziegler
Dallas Braden

Closer Joey Devine

please give me your thoughts and what would you do?

Usually when a trade happens with any one of my favorite teams ( A's, Raiders, Warriors) I always look at the positives and get exited about the talent that the team is receiving. This time however that is not the case.

When I found out about the trade via the headlines on the front page of yahoo I was optimistic before clicking the link. Would the A's get A great bat? I sure thought so and was eager to click the link. When I did I sat there shocked. Not only was Harden going but also another one of my favorite players on the A's - Chad Gaudin. For who you might ask? Two prospects that honestly don't amaze me. If you hit 217 at Single A ( Donaldson) how good of a prospect can you be.

Why not wait till the trade deadline at least, to waive the white flag? I hope the A's trade Joe Blanton now. They need a superstar bat and I honestly believe the A's could have got a superstar bat for Harden.

Even if Harden is occasionally Injured , the A's could have got more for him. Im no GM but I feel like that is Obvious.

And one more thing, The A's need a SS. Bobby Crosby is just not good at all. Flat out.

Kennedy was great last year for the A's , its too bad the As didnt do a move at the deadline. .................................................................................................... ............................................................... I wonder who the A's were going to do a trade with and who they were going to get.

does anyone know where I could find the pre-game footage.

As some of you may have noticed, at A's games they do a pre-game tribute on the video board to the 20 game win streak. Does anyone know where I could find footage of that. Ive gotten chills so far , every time iv'e seen it. It includes sweet calls by Korach and Bill King. Thanks so much

Go A's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trade Bobby Crosby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

Kurt Suzuki should be the starting catcher

Piazza should DH. Cust should be in the majors, but as a backup.

A's close to deal with Alan Embree

With the winter meetings starting today im sure there will be a fair share of rumors, but this one seems a little more then a rumor. As ESPN is reporting the A's are close to a signing Alan Embree lefty reliever. They are saying this would push Kennedy into the rotation if the A's due indeed get Embree.

A's close to deal with Embree
Dec 3 - The Athletics are close to completing negotiations on a contract with free agent left-handed reliever Embree, reports Buster Olney of ESPN The Magazine. Embree was 4-3 with a 3.27 ERA in 73 games for San Diego last season. Assuming that Oakland is able to sign Embree, it would probably shift left-hander Joe Kennedy, who worked out of the bullpen last year, into the rotation.

For my Journalism class at my high school ( Albany High) I am writing an article about the tragedy that Killed Cory Lidle and his Co-pilot. I need some quotes from A's fans who have fond memories of Cory Lidle. Anything about him or his career as an athletic.

Please say Your full name with the quote.

Thank you so much!

This season was a sucess I believe. The A's finally got out of the first round which was a huge problem they had for four years. Personally I dont think the talent was that high on this team and with Additions , next year could be the year the A's go all the way.

Personally my favorite moment of the year was Milton Bradley walk off. To be there with AN and experience it was a blast.

On another note i want ZITO OUT, im tired of it being a roll of the dice whether or not ge gets shelled. Especially in clutch games. The staff can be good without him. Let him go to the Dodgers mets or Padres.

thank you to Blez for being the great Master of this site.

Thank you BaseballGirl for having great energetic spirit and organizing An day Anahein.

Thank you Louismg for youre comics and Open threas

Thank you Nico for your hillarious comments and hosting Chez Nico. You arre truely a very cool person.

Last but not Least , thjank you to everyone on AN

by now a lot of people know about the tragedy in NYC, where a plane registered to Cory Lidle crashed into an appartment building in upper east side. Lidle was aboard and is feared dead. Times like this make the game of baseball seem un-important. A's stranded runners? So what its just a game.

I met Cory Lidle last summer out side the phillies hotel in San Fran and talked to him for half an hour . I Can honestly tell you he was the nicest athlete ive ever met. I told him we missed him in Oakland and that his August of 2002 was simply amazing.

R.I.P. Cory Lidle.
