An Easy Fix to the BCS.
Some of you may remember me from 2009 just before the BCS against Texas. I posted a blast from the past as my sacrifice to the football gods for a Bama win and, well, it worked! But that's not why I'm here.
I wanted to give my two cents worth on a solution for the BCS that won't require much change to make a simple playoff system that "should" make everyone happy. As far as this year is concerned, it would include the pokes from Okie St. and would give them the chance they feel they deserve.
Most of the way the current system works would stay in place except for adding two games. The current system of polls and computers would stay the same. After the final weekend, when everything is said and done, the top 8 teams would be chosen the play a short 3 week playoff season.
Out of the long list of bowls, four could be randomly chosen to host the first week of playoffs These bowls would be assigned by ranking starting with #1 playing #5, #2 against #6, #3 against#7 and #4 playing #8. These 4 games would be played the week of Christmas. The four winners then move into the semi-finals to play in two of the BCS bowls, Fiesta, Orange, Sugar or Rose. Personally I would prefer to drop Fiesta into the lower tier. Each year one of the big three would host the BCSCG with the other two hosting the semi-finals.
So the way it would look this year would be:
#1 LSU vs. #5 Oregon
#2 Alabama vs. #6 Arkansas
#3 OSU vs. #7 Boise State
#4 Stanford vs. #8 Kansas State
This wouldn't be hard to implement, but it's also not going to please everybody. I'm sure with this, #9 and #10 would start complaining about being left out. You can't please everybody but you would let lower ranked teams get into the playoffs and try to prove that they belong too.
Ladies and Gentlemen, your friday morning win!

Saban contract worst thing ever to happen to bammer football?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They on their way to bankrupting their program. How much money will they have to offer quality assistants? And if Saban doesn't perform, which he won't, how much will they have to pay him to move on?
They've rolled the dice and bet the house. If Nick wins them their 10 game standard (ha ha ha) and multiple SECC's and a NC in his first 5 or 6 he stays (Good luck with that). If he goes 8 or 9 wins a year for his first 4 or 5 years, then WTH have they paid for?
While I can't see the future and how this will all turn out, on the face of it I have to say this is dumbest thing that bunch of morons has ever done. Saban is a very risky financial move on behalf of Alabama. Saban may be an upgrade over shula, but he's not good enough to be the highest paid College coach in America and they are fools to pay it. He is a mid-level coach of suspect character and inherited a great situation at LSU.
If he craps out on them before the contract ends, then it will cripple bammer football (financially) for another decade or more. This will be fun for us to watch this fiasco play out. We are so blessed to have TT and will for many years. Saban is a flash in the pan and Tommy will own him. I predict Saban will never beat TT and will be gone before he ever wins anything. Take it to the bank!!!!

Interesting Statistics...
An awesome season to say the least...
This is all that Saban and Bama did last year. 14-0 with wins vs....
The BCS National Championship contender / Big
12 Conference Champion
The BCS Sugar Bowl winner
The Cotton Bowl winner
The Chick-Fil-A Bowl winner
The Outback Bowl winner
The Liberty Bowl winner
Only the second (2nd) National Champ to be 14-0
Only the second team in 11 years to have the Heisman winner also be a National Champion
The most All-Americans ever assembled on one team
The only coach in the AP era to have won a National Championship at two different schools
The only SEC team that has gone back-to-back SEC seasons undefeated since the late 70's
Beat another undefeated team to win the BCS Crown
Beat an elite team from the SEC, ACC and Big 12
Beat arguably the best player ever in Tim Tebow
Beat the winningest QB ever in Colt McCoy
The first Alabama team to have ever beaten Texas
Beat four teams this season that have coaches that have won National Championships
And perhaps the most impressive.....Beat the previous three BCS National Champs in one season
ROLL TIDE!!!
I was watching the reply again and noticed something that might have been missed. It looks to me, from this image, that he was going to miss it left anyway. The line starts at the spot of the ball goes directly through the football and TC's left hand and ends up left of the uprights.

I love this site and I love Alabama Football and I know you have to pay for this site somehow, but do we really have to look at someone's green teeth plastered all over the top of the page? Can you control it somehow?
Maybe block just that one?

Sugar Bowl Video
For those of you who, like me, went to the game, don't have a DVR at home and wanted to see the game again, here's a video I found of the Sugar Bowl:

I wanted to watch it on TV since the seats we had were fourth row up from the field and couldn't see every play.
Rueben Randle Job Offering. Recruiting Violation?
This was sent to me via email:
Highly touted prospect Randle gets tour of Capitol
• By MICHELLE MILLHOLLON
• Advocate Capitol News Bureau
• Published: Jan 28, 2009 - Page: 1C - UPDATED: 12:05 a.m.
The state’s top football prospect got a personal tour of the State Capitol recently from the governor’s chief of staff.
Timmy Teepell, Gov. Bobby Jindal’s top aide, confirmed Tuesday that he met with Rueben Randle at LSU’s request.
Randle — a Bastrop High School student who Rivals.com lists as the second-best high school senior prospect in the nation — was in town this past weekend for his official visit to LSU.
Jindal’s press secretary, Kyle Plotkin, said the request from LSU was for Randle to meet with Teepell and the Governor.
Teepell said, “I gave him a tour and told him some great LSU stories.”
Randle is expected to announce on Feb. 4 which college he will attend. LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma are reportedly his finalists.
Randle’s high school football coach, Brad Bradshaw, said he did not ask which way Randle was leaning after the trip, but said the trip opened Randle's eyes to some things. He did not elaborate.
Bradshaw said Randle had a good time in Baton Rouge but did not mention the visit to the Capitol. He said he was unaware of an interest in politics.
“I know he’s a very bright young man,” Bradshaw said, "and will make the right decision."
State Sen. Mike Walsworth, who visited with Randle during the tour, said he and Randle’s family talked about Bastrop’s economic problems and about football.
International Paper announced late last year that it was closing its Bastrop mill, an economic driver in the northeast Louisiana town.
Walsworth, R-West Monroe, said he was careful to avoid violating any recruiting rules.
“I just said, ‘Look we would love for you to stay in the state of Louisiana.’ That’s all I said,” Walsworth said grinning. "Honestly, that's all I said."
Teepell said there is a paid internship slot in the Governor’s Office for a student-athlete typically recommended by LSU football coach Les Miles.
Teepell said he made sure Randle and family knew the slot is open, but that he did not offer it to Randle at this time. We will see how this all plays out before the prestigious and sometimes finacially rewarding slot is filled.
Teepell said the nation’s top wide receiver prospect did not let slip where he plans to play college football although we all feel he will stay at home.
He said the governor’s attorney, Jimmy Faircloth, did make a sales pitch of sorts. Teepell said Faircloth pointed out that living in Louisiana would allow Randle to take his laundry home for washing.
