I tried to comment in the comments section, but there was no avenue for doing so on this website. Not sure why, but here is my response to this idiotic rationalization.

Dave,

The fact that college football only plays 12 games in a season is why everyone pays attention to the games more so than say, basketball which has 40, or baseball which plays upwards of 55-60 games. It is a simple dynamic relating to the laws of supply and demand. With less opportunity to view a contest, the demand is greater. It has nothing to do with the BCS.

The reason why demand in the past was less than the current BCS era, from the 1950's per say to 1990, is the fact that cable television and the internet hadn't reached its zenith and grown to an exponential level like it has now.

More people watch it today because more rural areas have cable television, and with the rapid expansion of the internet, due high speed, wireless and satellite capabilities, more people have access to watch ALL of the games. They don't watch it because of the BCS's influence, they watch it because it is popular as it always has been, but there are simply more avenues to view a game.

College football is more popular now because there is more access. All the BCS does is bring down the game at the end of the season because the majority of the fans do not agree with it's conclusions to a large degree.

I agree that a "NORMAL" style of playoff is not the answer, which is why I have developed the playoff proposal as part of my book manuscript over at www.ncaa-schedule.com

My proposal eliminates the bogus September match-ups by requiring all teams to begin their seasons with the conference games, much like Oregon and UW this coming season, and saves room in the regular season (last 4 weeks) to determine the conference championships. Thus you would have an 8 team tournament in the BCS bracket during weeks 11 and 12 and the results of this bracket would determine the bowl games. There would be four brackets (BCS, Holiday, NIT and Sportsmans) which would determine the bowl games. With this method, we would truly get a true and battle tested match-up as the elite teams (determined by the actual results on the field - not a unionized poll mechanism) would be on a collision course to meet on the field.

The problem with the BCS, is the fact that teams do not play legitimate schedules and yet are still rewarded (via a pretty record) with a BCS bowl game. In the BCSBusters Model, you would not only have to earn your bowl berth, but your schedule in the process.

Dave, please give us some critical thinking instead of the same old and tired mandates that support the Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Commision and the Council on Foreign Affairs, which are the true shadow administrators that control not only our Government, but the BCS through continuous and media supported mind wars emphasizing the control of the American Population in an effort to provide us with the NEW WORLD ORDER, of which the BCS plays part to.

If you question this, simply follow the money trail in college football, which will lead to Big Oil, which will lead to the Ford, Rockefeller and Carnegie Foundations, which will lead to the UNITED NATIONS and COUNCIL ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS.

College football is a trillion dollar industry and now plays a direct role in world economies since it has become a certain fact that we have now entered the post-oil era. The slightest shifts involving any economic indicator will have drastic effects on the world economy and college football is big business to the oil industry and American economics, which is big business to the world economies.

Due to the fact that the media has become corrupt and politicized (the Carnegie, Ford, Rockefeller and Rothschild families own the media - ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and ESPN) the year-to-year poll shenanigans allow the teams that have the greatest impact on the game financially to profit from the BCS, and hence, the central banks profit the most as well. If you have ever wondered why college football, especially under the BCS, has the strong odor of Monarchy, Oligarchy and Monopoly, you simply need to understand that the people who OWN (literally) and control the game have operated under this mode of operandi for nearly 300 years, dating back to the very roots of our country.

The problem here is the fact that although the LSU's, Ohio State's, Florida's and USC's of the world have a greater connection to these foundations (which support the Council on Foreign Affairs, which support the NEW WORLD ORDER), it doesn't equate into superiority on the field as the Boise State's, Oregon's, Kansas's and Missouri's of the world have proven.

Thus we get the same old tired propaganda which supports the BCS (essentially all of the issues involving in the comments section have been presented before, and this couldn't be father from the truth).

DC -

I didn't catch on at the time but you mentioned the Trilateral Commission & Freemasonry in a response to a post I wrote when I wrongly claimed that Bellotti was coming the UCLA, which are obvious references to the New World Order conspiracy theory in your latest response to one of my diary responses.

My research in the BCS Controversy has led me to the Rockefeller empire, following and connecting the dots from the Oil and Gas empire. What can you tell me as far as what you know from the Trilateral Commission, Bilderberg Group and the New World Order. So far I have connected 15 business model characteristics that are strikingly similar in comparing the business models of the BCS and the New World Order.

Apparently UCLA's seniors decided to utilize an age old Bruin tradition by blowing off practice. Honestly, as a coach with nearly 20 years experience and as an athlete who played multiple sports in high school, not to mention college and professional baseball, I have never heard of this at an institution before.

I am simply appalled by this!

I have been a staunch PAC-10 supporter all of my life, but this is one time I hope Tennessee (and the SEC) actually throttles a PAC-10 team. If I was coaching this team, I would send the seniors packing and begin the new era with underclassmen as I find the timing of this unified walkout simply pathetic and I would not be surprised if many programs use this as psychological motivation against the Bruins. I know if I was playing against UCLA, I would flat out refuse to lose to a team that walked out of a practice.

One of the aspects I have tried to instill in my teams is the importance of constantly outworking your opponent each and every day - Win The Day, for every day you waste in life is one you cannot make up for in the end. I think this pretty much defines the UCLA program and for all of us who were wondering how in the world UCLA could look great one week and a total disaster the next...here is our answer. The team cannot even suck it up for 15 spring practices...How in the world will they suck it up in the fourth quarter of a tight football game. UCLA is a four letter word...SOFT!!

Here is the link for the article: http://www.dailynews.com/ucla/ci_8939415

Bumped...Our good friend BCS Busters has another great take on out of conference scheduleing. Paragon

In a recent article that can be found here:

Some interesting stats between USC and LSU:

In the final analysis, the fact that LSU fans continue to discredit a USC program, who in their mind competes in the Pathetic-10 or a West Virginia program who competes in the Big-Easy, while boasting of their own BCS accomplishments, the fact remains that the three best teams over the course of the last four seasons have yet to meet each other on the field.

The fact that LSU had an open date (they recently added Appalachian State) and could have easily scheduled West Virginia or USC this coming season (or in any of the past 5 seasons) speaks volumes to the dismay of college football in general and the BCS in particular, and is once again a glaring example of the BCS largess that the SEC holds over all of the other conferences.

Still disagree with this assessment?

Consider the following. USC not only has a superior overall record as compared to LSU since the year 2002 (70 - 8 versus 64-15), but a better bowl record (5-1 versus 4-2). USC not only has a superior QOF-Rating (22-5 versus 17-11), but has beaten more BCS non-conference opponents (19) than LSU has even played (12), and even more significant to the argument, has beaten more winning programs with 7 plus wins a seasons (37) than LSU has even played as well (36).

Of the 12 BCS teams that LSU has played since 2002, 8 had elite 9 (plus) win seasons. Of the 21 BCS teams that USC has played since 2002, 15 had elite 9 (plus) win seasons. Once again, USC has beaten more elite BCS non-conference opponents than LSU has even played (12).

Based on these numbers alone, how can anyone discredit USC and the fact that they have essentially been barred on many occasions from competing for the national championship when the numbers scream of the injustice. Both USC and LSU were 8 points from a perfect season in 2007, why the discrepancy in the polls?

Forward Thinkers Needed For PAC-10

University of Oregon football coach Mike Bellotti mentioned last year that he didn't think the Cougars of BYU would fare as well as they would inside the confines of the Mountain West Conference, if they had to take on a full PAC-10 Conference slate every season.

Given the fact that Oregon used to be well below the Cougars within the college football organizational hierarchy when coach Bellotti arrived in Eugene nearly 15 seasons ago, I found this statement to be a little obtuse.

The statement postured by Bellotti is but a microcosm of the overall hierarchy within college football as the CFA alliances utilize this same stance when spewing their superiority poison towards the PAC-10 Conference.

Why would we use the same poison on BYU when we do not like this political sabotage ourselves?

This form of posturing, easilty identified as press oriented smear campaigns designed to gain pollster points or lure potential 5-star recruits, is pure and absolute horse hockey.

In order to solve the BCS hierarchy, which is full of CFA segregation, bias and ill will towards our fellow competitors, what we really need is to have some forward thinkers interject the administrative halls of the PAC-10 Conference with some proactive strategies so we can move forward, and out of the cellar of the BCS stratosphere.

This is what smug complacency and an elitist mind set buys you inside the BCS era if you choose to conduct your business in a reactive, as compared to proactive, manner.

The MAC Conference, as well as the WAC Conference, has better television packages than the majority of the PAC-10 Conference members:

This past season, when Oregon was embarking on their BCS ascent, a key match-up with Arizona State in week number eight was nearly unavailable to the majority of the nation due to the fact that PAC-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen has been asleep behind the wheel.

If not for some quick maneuvering over at ESPN, much of the nation would not have witnessed a great game between two Top-10 teams who played perhaps the most important game that weekend.

Taking the high-road, leads to the low road!

The only conference to play all of its conference members on an annual basis does not gain any style points within the beauty pageant, known as the BCS.

Playing all nine of the PAC-10 Conference members is tough enough, but when you add the non-conference BCS opponents that many of the PAC-10 Conference members must play in order to gain BCS poll style points, there is legitimately only one patsy opponent opportunity on the schedule.

Have you seen the Big-10 Conference opponents this year, or the schools that the ACC, SEC and Big-12 schedule on an annual basis? Kansas, Ohio State, Hawaii and Virginia Tech have all played schedules that are more than suspect, and they will reside in BCS land come January.

Someone explain to me again how PAC-10 programs Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA and California are going to be excited to play in their bowl venues this year? Which brings up the third key point...

The PAC-10 Bowl opportunities are the worst among the BCS Conferences.

This factor may be a little more difficult to solve, because it has to do more with geography than it does anything else. However, give me a little latitude on this one. Even if college football continues to reject my BCS Busters Regular Season Playoff Model, the "Conference of Champions" would do the college football world a big Christmas favor if they would simply expand to 12 teams, play a conference championship game, and open up the Rose Bowl to the teams that actually deserve to be there.

I am not saying that the PAC-10 or the Big-10 do not deserve to play here. What I am saying is that this year, like many other seasons, with Illinois coming to Hollywood for the Rose Bowl Parade, wouldn't we be better served if this spot was actually opened up to a team like Missouri, who is obviously better than Illinois given the fact they beat the Illini in week number one?

Given the beating that the PAC-10 faces within the media every year, maybe we would actually earn some style points and poll positioning favoritism if we actually unchained the locks to the Rose Bowl and expanded the conference so we wouldn't actually have to play what should be another conference member in BYU or Utah in a bowl game, because we get absolutely thrashed in the media every time we lose to these schools and gain zero caloric benefit when we beat them in the polls.

In everything we do, we leave footprints in the sand.

When Notre Dame signed their historic contract with NBC Television it sent shock waves throughout the college football world.

Knowing full well that absolute power within the game was connected to television, the strongest conferences had to have to greatest reach. It came down to television sets. The more sets a conference could reach, the greater the reach, the greater the marketing appeal. This has proven true each time a conference has moved forward, thus leaving footprints for the other teams to follow.

The Choice is as simple today as it was back then. Move forward or get left behind. The PAC has been stuck in neutral long enough don't you think?

The ripple affect of the PAC-10 moving to the PAC-12 would provide immediate incentive for the stronger schools within the non-BCS family to think proactively for themselves. The three strongest non-BCS Conferences are in fact the Mountain West, WAC Conference and C-USA.

Tonight's thriller on the islands involving East Carolina and Boise State will prove to be every bit as exciting, well played and ingenious on the coaching end as West Virginia and Oklahoma, or Virginia Tech and Kansas. I'm not sure Missouri and Arkansas will be as well played or provide as much drama as the game we witnessed tonight.

However, the one thing missing is the fact that the game didn't mean anything. What if this was played as part of the BCS Busters Regular Season Bracketed Playoff Model?

The newly created Rocky Mountain Conference could very well look like the following:

Rocky Mountain West
Hawaii
Boise State
Fresno State
Air Force
Nevada
Colorado State
Wyoming

Rocky Mountain East
TCU
UTEP
Southern Mississippi
Tulsa
Rice
Houston
Memphis

SMU would remain with C-USA, while East Carolina would move on to the Big-East Conference, along with Appalachian State, Navy and Army. This would bolster the Big-East.

And if you think a team like Boise State or East Carolina doesn't belong with the big boys...think again. Last nights game between UCLA and BYU involved a number of drops by the Bruins. So much so that it reminded me of the infamous SEC games a couple of seasons ago between not only LSU and Alabama (6-3), but LSU and Auburn (7-3).

Of course, those games are always hyped by the SEC speed on defense, but then of course, if we look at the scores this year, it appears there isn't a bit of defense being played in the SEC. Now it is the Speed on offense and the influence of the Spread Offense getting the hype.

I have witnessed more drops within the BCS Conference games between the juggernauts than I have between Boise State and ECU, Cincinnati and Southern Miss, or Utah and Navy.

The proactive stance that the PAC-10 could take upon itself would leave such a Sasquatchian footprint in the sand that others would surely follow...and this would be the tsunami needed to flatten the barriers of bias and orchestrated pollstering and media slander that prevents college football from moving forward.

The Clock is Ticking!

All I want for Christmas is some forward thinking PAC-10 Administrators.

Blog post found at ncaa-schedule.com

Merry Christmas!

Word on the street is that Mike Bellotti is heading to UCLA. Should be announced within the next few days. Will be interesting to see how this affects recruiting this year as they were absolutely killing it on the recruiting trail this year.

Chris Petersen and Jeff Tedford look to be the front runners now with Oregon. I believe this will be a good thing for both Mike Bellotti and Oregon. 14 years is a long time to stay at a given school with todays media and I think the media situation along with the criticism he has taken with his family situation and the Dennis Dixon injury ordeal has created some friction among the staff. This is very credible information and just passing it along. If I end up being wrong I will sincerely apologize.

bcsbusters

Heard from a very reliable source tonight that Mike Bellotti will be taking the UCLA job within the next few days.

Chris Petersen is now the front runner to take the job at Oregon along with Jeff Tedford of California. Again, I wouldn't post this if I didn't have inside information.

Bellotti is looking for a change as their is a rift growing with the Oregon press over his family issues and the way he handled the Dennis Dixon ordeal. I've heard from one of the assistant coaches family members that none of the staff knew that Dixon actually had a torn ACL going into the Arizona game.

I would describe the atmosphere in the Casonova Center right now between the staff members as ICE COLD and it shows in the way the players and coaching have melted down to end the season.

I've known this family up close and personal for a number of years and this is a good thing for Oregon football - Things have a way of coming out in the wash in the end.

Kyle,

I wrote a nice article regarding the overall parity displayed this year in college football. Thought you'd like to read it and respond. Might give you an idea for a future article.

Your blog ranking looks good, although I'd give Missouri a little more credit for their performance thus far. It's anyone's guess at this point.

I think it would be wise to put a poll up this week showing groupings of teams rather than a numbered list. Kind of like the Aces, Kings, Queens and Jacks found on Stewart Mandel's list from early last summer. The whole numbered thing is really unreliable for what is the difference between 1-5, 6-10 or 11 through 15 and so on. Just a thought. Let me know what you think!

BCSBusters Top-15: The Week Three Report

For a better view of this article - please visit the bcsbuster website at wordpress.

A true championship team should have a balance of both - a stellar defense and an offense who can score in quick strike fashion - for a championship team must be able to function and survive in the following three game scenario's:

 1. Does the team go for the jugular in blow-out wins, quickly putting away an inferior opponent?

 2. Can it come back after falling several scores behind, especially on the road in hostile venues?

 3. Can it stand toe-to-toe without flinching while avoiding the knock-out punch in a tilt of championship implications with another heavyweight contender?

Although it is difficult to rank the difference between the teams at such an early juncture in the season, I would say we are at a point (Week #3) where the polls are actually starting to take on some validity. At this point in the season, my rating scale is heavily weighted to the defensive side of the ball, but a team can rise swiftly if they show a healthy balance of both.

The BCSBusters Top-6 hasn't changed since last week, although I did bump USC from the 3 spot into #2, which dropped Oklahoma down one. In all seriousness, I would consider it a four way tie for number one at this point, but there is no way to insert this and it would draw the "irons of fire" from fellow pollsters - Grow Some Hair!

LSU has been the most impressive of the four, but I can't see much difference between Oklahoma, USC and Florida. You could even make an argument for West Virginia, but they have been just a shade inconsistent in victories over Marshall and Maryland. These five teams are the Kings - or Gold Medal recipients - through the first quarter of the season.

The Silver Medal Recipients are Penn State, California and Clemson. Ohio State (who I moved up from #14 to #9), due to the fact that they have suddenly discovered their offense, but then again - Washington is a bit hyped and over-rated considering they have beaten Syracuse, who is quite possibly to worst BCS team in the country, and Boise State - who isn't even close to where they were last year after graduating key players in the skill positions (the Huskies looked okay for a half, but they are a year away from being a serious contender this year, and they will likely be a major spoiler along with UCLA in the PAC-10).

So who knows how strong the Buckeye's really are?

Clemson and Boston College, two ACC teams, have found their way into the Silver Medal bracket of the Top-10 due to differing circumstances. If you question Clemson in the Top-10, consider they have been ranked in the Top-10 in every major defensive category for the last 5 years, and they have a slew of play-makers on offense. Boston College has quietly scheduled 3 ACC games to start the season and they are so far ahead of the others at this point that the division race may already be settled. Plus, I ran an article called the Quality Opponent Factor right before the season began and was surprised to learn that BC had the second best rating in the country as they are 6-2 against teams who have gone on to win 9 or more games in the last 3 seasons. With their fast start this year, with key victories over Wake Forest and Georgia Tech, this figure could improve this year as well.

The Bronze medal winners (11-15) include Oregon, Alabama, Texas, Kentucky and South Carolina, while Rutgers, South Florida, Arizona State, Wisconsin and Missouri round out the medal winners.

The spoilers include Texas A&M, Georgia, Arkansas, Nebraska and Louisville.

Teams who have dropped in the first three weeks include Texas (from #2 to #13), Louisville (from #4 to #25), and Wisconsin (from #6 to #19) for they haven't performed well under the 3 pronged criteria for assessing championship excellence that was listed at the top of the article. Only Texas has a realistic chance to recover in my mind.

The first quarter of the season is over and as we begin the second quarter it is important to realize this exact point - it's too early to tell as a realistic and valid poll - which doesn't account for traditional status with the television networks, or past performances, shouldn't come out until week #6, the half-way point of the season.

LSU #1: Hard to argue with LSU as they have been stellar on both offense and defense to start the season. They only negative is the strength of schedule. Sure the Virginia Tech win looks good on paper, but the Hokies have been worrisome on offense so far in the 2007 campaign, so are we scaling this with Virginia Tech's prominence in the last decade, or the results of this season.

USC #2: There isn't much difference between Florida, USC and Oklahoma so far this season, but the deciding factor for me is the fact that USC went on the road - and in front of a festive and hostile environment, absolutely crushed Nebraska. Both Florida and Oklahoma have yet to play a road game, and this is most certainly an advantage that isn't addressed within the weekly polls as much as I'd like.

Oklahoma #3: Who can argue with the Sooners - their defense is off the charts and I love the intensity on the sideline - led by example from coach Stoops! Could they be on the outside looking in if USC and LSU fail to lose throughout the season? The BCS Controversy Continues!

Florida #4: While it looks good from the viewpoint of the media, I expected Florida to roll over the Vol's as I have stated many times that Tennessee and Michigan are two of the most over-rated teams given the pre-season polls on an annual basis. This has turned out to be a valid assessment as both teams are 1-2 and struggle due lack of speed when match-up against programs who spread the field. In reality, there isn't much difference between the top four teams as any of these four would be very good representatives in the national championship game.

West Virginia #5: There is a bit of a drop at this point in the polls, although West Virginia had an improved look on defense this week against Maryland. However, when compared to the Big-Four above, the Mountaineer's haven't been quite as impressive, especially on the defensive side, but then again - would Florida, LSU, USC or Oklahoma look as impressive on defense if they had to defend the Blue and Gold express from West Virginia? Food for thought!

Penn State #6: Some people may be howling over this pick, but consider that Penn State plays old school football - where field position and time of possession play considerably into the game plan. While most teams use a flashier scheme, the old tried and tested smash mouth affair can be just as successful, but just not as pleasing to the eye-ball. Sure they never look flashy, just look at the uniforms - they haven't changed since Joe Paterno started roaming the sidelines nearly 50 years ago. But then again, their stingy defense hasn't changed much either, which is why they sit and number six.

California #7: This is by far the shakiest pick in the Top-10 and yes, I think CAL would have beaten Tennessee just as handily as the Gators did if it was in fact week three instead of week one. Why am I so enamored with Jeff Tedford? Look at his track record with both Oregon and the Bears. Remember, if you would have told most of us at week #7 last year that the Gators would win the title, most of us would have said you should be institutionalized. The Bears will find their destiny in Pasadena this year, and if they happen to go undefeated against the PAC-10, it will be just as significant as an SEC team going undefeated considering the strength of the conference this year. No PAC-10 bashing on this one!

Clemson #8: This may also be a bit of a surprise compared to the other polls, but how can you argue against their start to 2007. Plus the Defense has been ranked in the top-10 of every major defensive category for the last 5 years and they could have as much team speed on both sides of the ball as any team in the country. The question will be the same for this team - Do they believe they can win the big one and will they flinch in the heavy-weight match-ups.

Ohio State #9: Ohio State found some balance this past weekend as their offense has awakened from hibernation. They scored 30 points in the second half to win going away and their defense is much like Penn State's - nothing flashy except the scoreboard, which has rarely changed from zero for most teams so far this season.

Boston College #10: BC has the second highest Quality Opponent Factor Rating in the last three seasons (6-2) so it was of no surprise to me that they have started so strongly so far this season. The division race in the ACC is all but over and the Eagle defense just keeps getting better and better. How about the strategy of starting the season with three conference games in a row: A+ for the Eagles!

Oregon #11: If Dennis Dixon wasn't among the pre-season hype for the Heisman Trophy, he should be now. Who can argue with his performance, which is very Vince Young like thus far. With Oregon's resurgence this past weekend against a Fresno team who took Texas A&M to triple over-time last weekend, the Ducks have returned to their 03' and 05' form. Bitten by the turnover bug last season, the Ducks have been charmed in this category so far this season.

Alabama #12: While much of the nation was raving over Arkansas to start the season, I found it quite humorous that the Hogs were favored in their annual clash with Bama this past weekend. I thought they were lucky to win last year given the Tide's ineptitude on special teams. Look out - The Tide is Beginning To Roll again this year, and who can question the leadership of Saban?

Texas #13: Where o' where has Vince Young gone...Where o' where can he be...the Longhorns are average without his "T"...where o' where will we be? I had the Horns ranked as high as number two in my pre-season poll, but where has the consistency gone with the horns? I will tell you, it's called the 85 scholarship rule, and the fact that any team today can beat another on any given day. Without a difference maker like Young, the Horns are ripe for an upset maybe two or three times this season. The Defense needs to step up!

Kentucky #14: How about the job that former Oregon Coach -Rich Brooks has done at Kentucky. I have tremendous respect for Brooks as he is a straight shooter and will go on the record and take full responsibility when his team doesn't perform. Who would have guessed that Kentucky would be sailing in the right direction and Louisville would be sailing without its defense - in the wrong direction. How in the world do you give up a long touchdown with less than a minute to go - on 3rd and long - when your in Cover 3? One thing you will notice with Brooks is the pile always moves backwards when his defense takes the field and given the fact that he started with 10 fewer scholarships available due to NCAA penalties, where will they be when this factor begins to balance itself out?

Arizona State & South Carolina #15: I've gone back on forth on the final pick for the Top-15, so I finally just submitted to a tie. Both Spurrier and Erickson have both won national championships. Both are quickly turning around programs who have settled for mediocrity within their given conferences, and both have similar styles of play. Both can find success and adapt to the personnel available, and who knows - in three years, both may be playing each other in a major BCS Bowl!

#17: Rutgers
#18: South Florida
#19: Wisconsin
#20: Missou
#21: Texas A&M
#22: Georgia
#23: Arkansas
#24: Nebraska
#25: Louisville

It is important to remember that we have arrived at the end of the first quarter of the season and we have a long way to go. When you factor the turnover and injury equations into the coming match-ups, there will most certainly be surprises, which is why we play the games on grass or field turf, instead of smoke filled rooms full of bias, speculation and projection. Can't wait for Week #4, but before you know it, the season will be all but over - Is it really Week #4 already?

I apologize for the poor readability here. The article on my website actually has some good links within each team segment that you may enjoy. Thanks again Paragon for letting me Post here! Copy and paste doesn't work very well in diaries. Go Trojans - Go PAC-10!
