5 Pro Bowl Candidates
Hello Fin Fans,
So I just posted an article discussing the top 5 Dolphins candidates to play in the 2012 Pro Bowl.
The article is located here.
Overall, I listed the top five candidates (1 being most likely) as:
5. Paul Soliai
4. Vontae Davis
2. Cameron Wake
1. Jake Long
Additionally, I also said the Brandon Marshall deserved an honorable mention, but our QB situation needs to be fixed if he is going to make the Pro Bowl.
What do you guys think of the order?
1st Round Quarterbacks
Watsup Fin Fans? Just thought I would remind everyone of the Dolphins luck when it comes to drafting 1st Round Quarterbacks.
The last time we drafted a Quarterback in the 1st Round was in 1983, when we drafted Dan Marino.
The next time we drafted a QB in the 1st Round was in 1967, when we drafted Bob Griese.
Both of which are HOF Quarterbacks.
We also took Rick Norton in 1966.
So 2 out of 3 times we draft a HOF QB when we draft them in the 1st Round? I like those odds
ARE YOU KIDDING ME A**HOLE JETS! THATS RIDICULOUS! should def be a fine
NICKNAME TIME
Hey fellow FIN-FANS! As tuff as it was to watch last weeks game (Dolphins vs Patrick Chung), there was one golden spot that should be noted. Vontae Davis. He completely shutdown Randy Moss (literately! 0 receptions! wow). And prior to this game he, had been doing a great job denying the ball whenever he was guarding someone. He truly looks like he is developing into a shutdown corner (knock on wood). Now I'm not trying to jinx it or be too optimistic, but lets say he turns into the next Nnamdi Asomugha or the Jets Corner (you know, the injured guy that i refuse to say, we need to have a nickname, and were definitely not naming it Davis Island, thats for the Jests. I figured i throw in some ideas and you guys can pick your favorite one, or if you have on of your own, leave a comment.
PS- leave Chad Henne alone, we'll never move forward with noodle-armed Chad Pennington.(plus it would be a huge waste of a fat head lol)
O.J. Atogwe: Becoming a reality
When I heard the rumors about the Dolphins being front runners for Rams 2008 MVP, I didn't believe it. We had just made Karlos Dansby the 2nd Highest payed ILB (Patrick Willis first) and made Brandon Marshall the highest paid WR in NFL History. We can't possibly make another big time signing, can we?
The Rams just released Atogwe, and now he is an unrestricted free agent. The teams interested were the Cowboys, Vikings, and Dolphins. Of course, the Rams were also in contention. To me at least, it seemed that the Cowboys were the front runners, until I saw what Adam Schefter tweeted(http://espn.go.com/nfl/). He said that Jerry Jones wasn't interested and it was one team to cross off.
Now it appears as if the Dolphins are the front runners. We were just 4 Million shy of signing Antrel Rolle, which shows we are willing to spend the bucks on a Free safety.
At first, I though O.J. Atogwe in a Miami Jersey was impossible, but is it becoming a reality? What do you think?

Look how many contracts will be up after 2010! What Fools!
Darrelle Revis-- Contract
Darrelle Revis is negotiating a new contract with the Jets-- and rightfully so. Let's give him credit; he is the best CB in the NFL now, and he's young. According to multiple sources, his new contract is going to be an average of $20 Million a year*. Yes, you read that right: $20 Million a Year! Now am I the only one who is thinking how the h*ll can the Jets afford this? The answer is because of the uncapped year. However, odds are we will be entering a capped year within the next few seasons. Let's look at some of the Jets acquisitions this offseason + Last Season
Braylon Edwards-- Getting paid #3 overall money.
Santonio Holmes- Getting Paid 1rst round money.
Mark Sanchez- Getting Paid #4 overall money + he's a QB
Antonio Cromartie- Getting Paid 1rst round overall money
Jason Taylor- $13 Million 2 year contract. (That's ridiculous for his age)
And that's just this year and the past year. Also, many of their acquisitions are on 1 year contracts. That means that once we enter a capped year, the Jets will not be able to keep many of their player, and could possibly have major cap penalties.
Unfortunately, this year is uncapped, so we are going to have to deal with the insane amount of money they spent on players.

Week 1 Starting Line-up Predicition
Here is what I think the Week 1 depth chart will look like.
OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS NOT THE ROSTER OR THE FULL DEPTH CHART. I KNOW THAT SOLIAi, HILIARD, SHEETS, THE REST OF THE ROOKIES, ETC. ARE ON THE ROSTER, I JUST DIDNT THINK THEY WOULD GET THAT MUCH PLAYING TIME, OR ONLY BE ON SPECIAL TEAMS.
Offense
QB- Chad Henne, Chad Pennington, Tyler Thigpen
RB- Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Patrick Cobbs, Lex Hilliard, Kory Sheets
FB- Lousaka Polite
TE- Anthony Fasano, Joey Hanos
WR- Brandon Marshall (#1), Brian Hartline (#2), Davone Bess (Slot), Greg Camarillo, Patrick Turner, Pat White
LT- Jake Long, Andrew Gardner
LG-John Jerry, Richie Incognito (could go either way)
C- Jake Grove, Joe Berger
RG- Donald Thomas
RT- Vernon Carey, Nate Gardner
DEFENSE
NT- Randy Starks, Ferguson will back-up following supsension, Paul Soliai
LE- Kendall Langford, I also see Philip Merling getting time as well here
RE- Jared Odrick, Tony Mcdaniel
ILB- Channing Crowder, Reggie Torbor
ILB- Karlos Dansby, Tim Dobbins, A.J. Edds
ROLB- Cameron Wake, Charlie Anderson
LOLB- Koa Misi, Q. Moses
SS- Yeremiah Bell, Chris Clemons
FS- Reshad Jones, Tyrone Culver
CB- Vontae Davis, Jason Allen
CB- Will Allen,
Nickel S- Sean Smith
Not 100% sure on Will Allen vs. Sean Smith.
SPECIAL TEAMS
K- Dan Carpenter
P- Brandon Fields ( who I think is a lot better than people give credit for)
KR- Patrick Cobbs
PR- Davone Bess
What do 'ya think? Agree? Disagree?
Brandon Marshall: Our's for the taking
Brandon Marshall is the most interesting and hyped player in free agency as a Restricted Free Agent. Denver has placed a first round tender on Marshall, which is basically a "for sale" sign". A first round pick for a proven #1 WR with major playmaking is a steal. If it wasn't for his personality, he would probably already had been traded. However, because of his terrible chemistry, he has not been traded for. Although the Seattle Seahawks have drawn interest to Marshall, with the recent trade for Charlie Whitehurst, it seems as if they are going to try and save their draft picks. With no teams drawing to much interest in Brandon Marshall, the Broncos have become desperate, and have suggested they would be willing to give up Brandon MArshall for an early 2nd round pick. This is where the Miami Dolphins come into play.
Although Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano are known to not acquire players that will cause headaches (although we just signed Richie Incognito), at a price like this, I think they need to make an exception.
Although the 12th pick of the 2nd round is "early", it is not a top ten pick. Some might consider this a problem; however, we has some tricks up our sleeves. We have three 6th round pick's and two 7th round pick's (from trades last year involving Jason Taylor and more). Through one of these in with our 2nd round pick, and I think the Broncos would be willing to make the trade.
What does it mean to the dolphins to acquire Brandon Marshall? Check this out:
Brandon Marshall: Age 25
Brian Hartline: Age 23
Davone Bess: Age 24
Our top WR's would all be below the age of 25 ( We also have Greg Camarillo, Ted Ginn Jr., Patick Turner, and Pat White (probably going to be converted to a WR)). This means that for the next 7 years, we would not need to worry about the WR position. It would also help Chad Henne develop as a QB.
So what do you think, should we trade for Brandon Marshall?

Later in this video they discuss how the Seahawks could have traded their 2nd round pick (6th) for Marshall. Fins have the 12th pick

Lex Hilliard: A Hidden Gem
It's 3rd and 11, and Miami has the ball against the Jets. Obvious Passing Situation right? Wrong. It's a draw play in which Ronnie Brown breaks tons of tackles and secures another Miami Dolphins " FRIST DOWN!". Oh Wait, did I say Ronnie Brown. I meant to say it was the Miami Dolphins 6th Round Pick out of University of Montana, Lex Hilliard.
I remember watching Preseason games of the Dolphins, and noticing Lex Hilliard rack up yards and broken tackles. He seemed to play very similar to modern day Ray Rice. However as I was watching the game, I knew that there was no room for a 4th String running back on a team. That is, until (Unfortunately) Ronnie Brown and Patrick Cobbs were both injured. It was Lex's time to shine.
Besides his runs in the Jets Game, Lex was primarily used as a blocking back on passing plays. The Dolphins finally learned how to use him in their final two games of the season. Hilliard had two receiving touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown. Although this may not seem like alot, but when you are the 4th string running back, it shows how much depth our team has.
Now I am not saying that Lex Hilliard will be the next Ray Rice of Adrian Peterson (but I never said he couldn't be), but he can definitely be a strong runningback who should get plenty of Reps. When Ricky Williams leaves, Lex could be the ma to fill his shoes
WHY TED GINN JR. IS THE BIGGEST WASTE OF A PICK.
Is Anquan Boldin worth it?
We can all agree that the Dolphins need a #1 wide receiver. Ginn has blazing speed, but not the hands and playmaking abilities to be the guy. Bess and Camarillo are both possession receivers, and not really cut out to take the playmaking role. Hartline would probably be our best chance, but I cannot see him developing into our #1 WR. So who is it going to be? A lot of people say Anquan Boldin is our best bet. But is he worth it?
