Three way deal?
I was watching sports center and TIm Kurkjian was saying that if SP Roy Oswalt is dealt the Phils could be VERY intrested. He also said it would more then likely take a three way deal, and that Werth will be a likely be in that deal. The Phils are in need of starting pitching, the Astros are in need of prospects, and the Sox......well OF is just one of the weakspots at this point. With all the talk of David DeJesus coming to beantown, I could see Theo looking in to this. Werth, imo, is a much better player than DeJesus, and seems a perfect fit for the Sox, not only for this season but a possible long term deal. My question is what do you think it will take the Sox to get a piece of this deal (the piece being Werth)? Oswalt is going to cost a lot, but if the Phils give a couple prospects, we give more (possibly many more) and Phils give us Werth as a thanks. I would love to see him in a Sox jersey, but what will it cost? And is Werth, worth it (only a small pun intended)?
If Ray is not in Green next year who takes his spot?
Yes ESPN we realize that LeBron, Dwade, Boozer and Bosh are all free agents, you tell us every 5 seconds. But there are plenty of other low key players that may actually help the Celtics next season. Don't get me wrong the number one issue is big men, now with Perks injury, but there are other huge holes such as Head Coach and SG. If I was a betting man I would put my money on Paul and Doc coming back, I am not so sure with Allen. Ask me this question the day after his crazy night against LA I'd say he's coming back for sure, but after his huge collapse after that who knows.
S for a min lets pretend Ray goes elsewhere who do we get to fill his spot? Lets face it the Celts need to get younger, need to build around Rajon, but knowing Danny he will get an older vet. There is potential players both young and old, but it all comes down to money.
Some options in order of my fav
Joe Johnson (yeah yeah I know it's not happening)
Tyrus Thomas (move PP to SG? this is a stretch but Thomas is young and talented and may be a good bench pick up anyway)
Shannon Brown (really impressed me durring the finals, I think he has a player option though so most likely he will stick with LA)
J.J, Redick
Devon Brown
Roger Mason
Allen Iverson (joke)
Since Rudy, Joe, Tyrus, and Brown are prob not going to be in green, I can see JJ coming to Boston....To be honest I like the idea of him more than re-signing Ray. He's much younger, a great shooter, and as he proved in the series against us, is getting much better and can be a real time contributor.
Yanks trade melky
Ok so as many of you may have heard the yanks traded for Javier Vazquez. This trade could mean bigger things. Just looking at the trade Vazquez is a pretty damn good starting pitcher. (15-10, 2.87 ERA, 238 ks, 1.03 WHIP). But this could mean more then just another good arm into there rotation. I think everyone believed with the trade for Granderson, Melky would move over to LF. Well, Melky was involved in this trade meaning theres a spot up for grabs in the yanks LF. Yes this could mean that Damon could re-sign or they could use Gardner or someone else in the yanks clubhouse. But that wouldnt be the yankee way. Theres two big (expencive) bats waiting to be signed to LF. And i think theres a possiblity that Holliday will be in those god-awful pinstrips next year. Which may lead to the Sox sigining Bay out of panic. Your thoughts??
Pedroia to SS?
On sports center this morning they reported that Dustin Pedroia was asked if he could play SS, this coming from Dustin himself to one of the espn reporters. Pedroia seems very excited to possibly play ss and he played ss at Arizona and in the minors. I'm not sure how i feel about it. I love Pedroia and have faith that he could play ss, but who would play 2nd base? Jed? Any thoughts?
Damon may not sign with yanks....scary
ok so damon did do great last year, esp in the ws. and normally i would say nice to the fact that the mfy are possibly loosing him, but this gives the mfy a perfect chance to get matt holliday. This is so scary.... to me at least. Yes i realize that people think holliday cant hit in the a.l blah blah blah, but a lineup with teix arod holliday is terrifying. Any thoughts??
Not in love with Jed
Ok so all the talk about LF(keep bay!!) lets talk about ss!
-SS has been the sox biggest problem area since Nomar left
-maybe its just me but im not sold on Jed, he seems to be taking his sweet old time to progress (granteed his was injured but with the mfy as the champs we need somthing now!)
-Gonz is old and although did well the last part of the season, i dont trust he can have that kind of full year. plus he's expencive
-I think theo is due for a big trade. papelbon's name has been in rumors like crazy. set up a package deal pap, prospects, cash, maybe another everyday player for a great ss. hardy's gone but i still think he wouldnt of fixed the ss spot for the sox. we need someone better.....my vote? Hanley Ramirez lol....yes i know im crazy but i can dream cant i??
-any thoughts?
