someone must pay!!!!! there needs to be accountability this week with cuts and staff firings all around. mike tomlin can't put up with this incompetence. this squad looks horrible. everybody (i too) fell into the trap of overrating the defense but big ben's weakness was again on display against a quality opponent on prime time. this team looks like the pirates of the nfl. who cares about the ravens game this week or the rest of the year? they are toast and won't do anything the rest of the way. thank god for hockey season. the pirates are only right around the corner too to get the taste of the 2008 steelers out of our mouths.

this season is over!!!! this team is an absolute outright disgrace!!! dallas screws off the whole week of practice and missing their top guys and guess what?? they come in and kick the steelers ass!!! super bowl my ass!!!!! this team lost to every good team they played this year. big ben is a waste!!!!! he can't play in the big games and it was proven once again. the difference between pittsburgh and the giants and cowboys is the qb. look at romo and manning vs. big ben. this team needs some serious overhauling this offseason. this team is absolutely disgusting.

well here it is folks. i just wanted to put this out before kickoff. this game right here today will tell you everything about how good the steelers are in 2008. this is the season defining game right here. sure on paper it is just a meaningless interconference game but it goes much further.

if the steelers lose then they would have lost to the 3 toughest teams on their schedule with all 3 losses being at home. they cannot afford to lose this game. on the flip side however, if they win then their confidence will be at an all time high and will be gaining momentum as the season winds down into playoff time.

today is the day the rooneys had in mind back in january when they signed ben for $102 million. the rooneys want a qb to face off against the top competition in the nfl in bad weather and perform well and pick up victories. today the steelers are going to live or die with big ben. the running game for both teams will be tough goings with the weather. that leaves us with ben. will he rise to the occasion and heat up in the cold weather?? will he be the new john elway/brett favre????? or will he revert to his ways against the giants and colts and become the new neil o'donnell/kordell???? today will prove whether or not that $102 million dollar deal was worth it or flushed down the toilet.

well the cowboys have all but ruled marion barber out for the game sunday. that is huge. without barber the steelers can focus solely on stopping the pass and "pin the ears" and go after romo more. with barber out that also means that jason witten will have to stay back to help protect romo. i don't see the dallas offense doing much under those circumstances. if the steelers do not make any stupid mistakes (are you listening ben?) and turn the ball over then they win in a walk. its all on them. if they can run on the patriots whose defensive line is way superior to dallas then they should be able to stampede over the cowboys defense.

well ryan clark wasn't fined this past sunday for his torpedo shot on wes welker. i know he didn't mean to be vicious, just doing his job and i was glad to see that welker wasn't seriously hurt, but if ryan clark was to do that to T.O. this sunday BOY THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hate T.O. more than any player in the league and a guy like T.O. would get no sympathy from most people if he got his bell rung and clock cleaned!!!!!! he F'n deserves it!!!! the only thing better would be if after he did it clark stood over him and did that stupid "T O" thing with his arms.

this week the steelers have their second biggest test of their season. (the giants were the first) their defense has their work cut out for them for sure. tony romo knows how to get rid of the football and can elude the heaviest blitzes. i fear that the short passes to marion barber are going to be like getting stabbed to death by a butter knife all day. i am also going to get sick of jason witten as well. this offense is nearly impossible to stop now that romo is back. the defense will need help. big ben must step up to the plate. he must perform as well or better than romo on sunday for the steelers to win. since he is making twice as much money as romo i don't think that is too much to ask of big ben. they also will have to run the ball to keep demarcus ware off ben's back. dallas defense isn't a joke either lately. ware is playing almost as well as harrison. if the steelers win then they can say they are legitimate contenders. if they lose they are pretenders. you can't lose to the giants, dallas and indy in your own backyard and call yourselves contenders. so the steelers MUST make a statement sunday!!!

the good news from the game on thursday is the steelers were able to win. the bad news is that they do not get to play the bengals for the rest of the season. if the steelers played like that against WPIAL champion TJ then they would have gotten beat. new england and dallas are our next 2 games. forget it. we won't win. they are playing unbelievable. the defense of course will slow those two teams down but that would mean ben having to outplay romo or even cassel. he isn't as good as them. then baltimore after that?? wow. they thoroughly wiped their butts with the eagles. of course they won't destroy the steelers but both defenses will play great. the question is which qb will make the big screw up to cost the game. joe flacco just doesn't make mistakes and he makes enough plays for people to respect him. ben, i just don't trust him to take care of the football against the quality opponents we have left. the fate of the division championship rest on him to not make any mistakes and if the steelers expect to win any games in the playoffs if they make it, he needs to find a phone booth and put on his cape and play as if the steelers are paying him $102 million dollars.

albeit a small one. no i am not talking about ben roethlisberger. i mean gary russell. the only two carries he got were on two 3rd and 1's and he got 10 yards and more importantly 2 first downs. i know you have to get willie parker the ball especially if he gets hot like he was today but come on this guy could definitely be the hammer this team has lacked since the bus. davenport was a decent back but he never was a masher. mewelde moore is talented but isn't a short yardage guy. gary russell needs to be the change of pace guy to parker. other than the goal line foul up and the stupid penalties, 4 of the 5 linemen played well. trai essex is a pretty good pass protector. he should be the starting left tackle until marvel smith returns. max starks is out of his element on the left side. put him on the right. willie colon either needs to be switched to guard or out of the starting lineup. he has no business playing the edge. i am flying up from phoenix to attend the game on thursday so my vile will be gone next weekend.

with as bad as the passing game has gone, the steelers must go back to their roots if they want to go anywhere. to do that they need a power running game. not like the days of the bus mind you, those days may never come back but just going back to the days of running it 55-60% of the time. willie parker's return should help but he is nowhere near ready to take 25-30 carries a game. i don't think he was ever that type of back to begin with. 20 carries should be his maximum. mewelde moore has played well but he is suited better as a weapon coming out of the backfield.

who else is left? gary russell. the steelers need to see what they got in this kid. he needs at least 8-10 carries to not only show what he's got but he is the closest thing to a road grinder the steelers have. the line needs to be reshuffled for this set up as well. first off, starks and kemo should NOT be on the left side. they need to have all that bulk on the right side where it is needed most. other than hartwig every linemen is miscast. kemo and starks on the right side, darnell stapleton and his athleticism on the left with (assuming he plays) marvel smith. this leaves out willie colon but he is better suited as a backup anyway. that setup actually has the makings of a successful line. the steelers will never win a game that they don't hit 30 rushing attempts and more than 25 passing atttempts. not with this personnel. not against their schedule. oh and since ben wanted the tall receiver would it hurt so much to try at least one long jump ball pass down the sideline to limas sweed a game????

ben has less touchdown passes than a guy named sean hill.

ben has as many interceptions as peyton manning does all season.

ben has one less loss than joe flacco does all season.

ben has as many victories as the steelers quarterback as his future boss at mcdonalds.

on the season ben has almost as many interceptions as the manning brothers do combined.

what are you waiting for coach?? the season and the franchise depends on you making the move to take ben out of there. do it for your team. bench ben now!
