MMA Event Headed to Baltimore, Maryland
Set the date, East Coasters.
John Rallo, head instructor of the Renzo Gracie affiliate: Ground Control, brings to Baltimore,MD what has taken way too long to acquire; Great fights in a highly MMA-underserved area.
Initially, Rallo was the one to bring MMA up to legislators, and with enough persistance his efforts proved fruitful.
Inside PressBox March 8, 2009: MMA in Maryland from PressBox on Vimeo.
Now comes the payoff. Only issue is, this could be the last event if we don't get enough support. SHOGUN fights features a TON of local and national talent, and its right by the Inner Harbor so accommodations are easy to come by. So for all of you BE members in MD/VA/DC area and onwards, I hope to see you there October 24th.
Check out the SHOGUN FIGHTS website here
In related news, Ground Control's Owings Mills, MD location will be hosting Matt Serra for a Saturday-afternoon seminar on September 26th. For anyone interested, check out the Owings Mills academy's website:
And no, I'm not getting paid for this. I'm just a student there, and I figured there would be some people on here who get excited by this news.

Continuing the Lift the Ban Watch: Maryland Edition
http://www.pressboxonline.com/video.cfm?vid=11&display=video
Check out the first story presented in this Sports Broadcast show. My BJJ coach, John Rallo, who has been at the forefront of MMA sanctioning in the state of Maryland, is interviewed by PressBox (ABC Sports). He gives insight into what kind of timeline Maryland MMA fans are looking at until we can finally go see shows at the First Mariner Arena. Rallo states we might be lucky enough to see a show by June 2009. Some other exciting stats included in this piece, check it out.

Battle at the Nation's Capital
Went to UWC Saturday, had a sick time, and happened to pick up a flyer at the end of the night for the
" District Combat Productions Presents: Battle at the Nation's Capial I"
"Stacked" card of seven fights, MTV DJ's, Guest appearances by Renzo Gracie and Maurice Smith
December 13th at the DC Armory
Anyone hear about the production company or the event? Sounds awesome, but no fighter names are written out, and for it to be so soon without any fighters is kinda sketch. Thoughts or info? (I'll be there either way, and everyone in the area should be as well)
