RichRod fired by Michigan
Per the WWL, in a move that should come as a shock to precisely no one, RichRod is out as Michigan's coach.
Hawkeye Prayer
Yes this could be interpreted as toeing the line on religion, I think. My Luthern pastor father-in-law sent me this earlier this morning, had to share it.
Our Hawks, who art from Kinnick, hallowed be their game.
When kick-off come, their win be done,
in Arizona, as it was in Iowa City.
Give us this day, our Clayborn and Sash.
And forgive us our intoxication,
as we forgive those who bet against us.
And lead us not into the drunk tank,
but deliver us from law enforcement.
For thine are the TOUCHDOWNS, and the FIELD GOALS,
and NO STANZIBALLS forever and ever. AMEN

Hockybear's little brother
Since I've never seen this on here before, and given I'd like anything to distract from the ongoing "Expansionpalooza", bs associated with USC finally getting nailed for being cheats, death of the Big XII, and other stories of interest, I bring you the little brother of Hockeybear - Ninja Bear.

Perhaps this is fake, but after spending a lot of time researching it appears to be legit (ok I spent 30 seconds and found nothing saying it's fake)
Enjoy.
Stanzi IS, by any measure, the Manzi
So yesterday, my tweenage cousin was diagnosed with diabetes, and was sent down to Iowa City for treatment. She's spent the last two days in the Children's hospital there as they begin her treatment. However, the best treatment possible is the smile brought by our own Ricky Stanzi. He sat and played Madgab with her and her sister this afternoon, bringing a much needed smile to the entire family.
While I've had nothing but good things to say about Stanzi up to this point, he is now the absolute measure of what I want in an Iowa football player. While he is a very good athlete and quarterback, he is a far better person. For a college kid to take time out of his day to spend time with kids at the Children's hospital is a FAR better measure of what he can and does mean to the Iowa program.
I realize this is nothing new, as evidenced by the wristbands and fanfare he's received for this very thing, but quite simply we don't recognize it nearly enough. The kids he spends time with, and their families, will never forget this simple act of kindness.
I tip my cap to you, Rick Stanzi. You are an honorable man, and any success you bring to the Iowa football program will pale in comparison to what you mean to those kids. Keep up the good work.

Unappreciated Accomplishments
Gents,
All of you at BHGP need to post an apology (and for that matter, as a Hawkeye fan, I need to apologize as well - I could have posted a diary sooner too).
Our men's wrestling team just won the national freaking championship. WE ARE NUMBER 1! No, I'm serious - no Marchifornication craziness. WE ACTUALLY ARE NUMBER 1.
