MLB DECLARES CUBS SERIES OVER!!!

This just in from the AP...

CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- In a shocking move, Major League Baseball has decided to cancel the rest of the NLDS between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers - awarding the series and a trip to the NLCS to the Dodgers.

When asked why MLB had decided to do so, Comissioner Bud Selig said, "It's obvious from one game who is going to win the series. What's the point on playing the rest of it? With the economy the way it is, we thought we might save some money on flights if we just called it now."

Cubs manager, Lou Piniella agreed with Selig's decision. " Well you know, we just decided to pack it up and call it a year. We lost the first game and when that happens, it's all over. To be honest, I don't really know why it's supposed to be a five game series. Everybody knows the season is over when you lose number one. But it's okay, me and Matty Sinatro got a great tee time tomorrow morning at the Waveland golf course."

Carlos Zambrano, who was scheduled to pitch in game #2, said, "The fans are right. The season is over. We lost game one. Never has a team come back from losing the first game of a series, so
we're done. Now I can go back to emailing my friends."

Selig added, "come to think of it, we should probably just call the Red Sox series too. The Angels losing game one at home? Their season is obviously over."

C'mon, people - it's one game. Lighten up...everything will be okay.

Outside the lines is doing a piece on the loyalty of Cubs fans...

The have a generational history of every decade of Cub fans starting in 1908 and it's kinda cool. Check it out...it talks about how no matter what happens, the love for our team is forever. The feature (WooWoo) but I don't know why they didn't feature Al. Let's hope after this year, we won't have to deal with this losers label anymore!

Should the Cubs sit Zambrano and Harden until the playoffs?

I saw last night that Zambrano would only have to miss one start because of his arm injury. And who knows what's up with Harden.

But since the Cubs have such a large lead (5 in the division and 9 in the wildcard) does it really make sense to bring either one of them back before October? I know that we want to win the division which I think is possible even with both of our aces out. We want to keep the best record as well for home field advantage up until the World Series. But risking the health of either one of those two guys seems silly to me because all that really matters is the playoffs. Why rush Zambrano back in a week to pitch a seemingly meaningless game against the Astros?

Thoughts?

Looks like the AL teams are really trying to posture for the stretch run. Although Pudge had been platooning with Brandon Inge, still a nice pickup for the Yanks. Molina wasn't cutting it.

Anaheim just got even better.

The Angels have quietly built a very strong team. I know the Cubs don't have to worry about playing them now, but once October rolls around, the Angels are going to be very tough to beat. Hopefully, we'll get our chance. Doesn't look like the Angels gave too much up either. Casey Kotchman is decent and a minor league pitcher.

If anybody is interested in going up to Milwaukee...

...standing room tickets are available for all four games on the Brewers website for $22 each. Looks like they have singles available around the park as well. This is a huge series as we all know and it would be great to pack Miller Park full of Cubs fans. Big win today, let's keep the momentum going! The pitching match-ups are pretty amazing. Hope we take at least 3 of 4!

OT: A-Rod's Wife Runs Off With Lenny Kravitz

Weird, but apparently true.

So apparently A-Rod is dating Madonna.
A-Rod's wife is dating Lenny Kravitz.

And their kids are home alone.

I wish I could make something like this up but nobody would believe it. Ahhh...the life of an overpaid major league baseball player. Sounds a lot more like an episode of As the World Turns.
If you could run off with a celebrity, who would you choose?

Looks like the Cubs have run out of answers.

Pitching against rookie leaguers tonight in an Arizona League game, Hill lasted only one-third of an inning, allowing five runs on one hit with three walks and a hit batter.

We all know Hill had been sent to Arizona to work on his control after losing command with the Cubs and at Triple-A Iowa. Apparently, that hasn't helped.
Now, the Cubs are on the verge of shutting him down altogether so he can try to get his head on straight.

And to think, we had such high hopes for him after last year. Hope he figures it out.

What will it REALLY take to land Sabathia?

Seems that a lot of posters on here want CC but don't want to give anything up to get him.

What's a legitimate package for him? Here's some recent trades to compare it to.

Back in 2002, in a trade that happened to include Sabathia's current team, the Indians, they sent Bartolo Colon...who at the time was comparable to CC for all-star Brandon Phillips (who is now 2b for the Reds), possible Cy Young award winner Cliff Lee and all-star CF Grady Sizemore.

This past winter, the Twins traded Johan Santana to the Mets for Carlos Gomez, Philip Humber, Deolis Guerra, and Kevin Mulvey. Four of their top 6 prospects.

A lot of people on here have been suggesting that we trade Murton, Rich Hill, E Patterson and a host of other players who really aren't that good. Why would the Tribe want any of those guys? It's probably going to take at least 3 of the players below to even pique the interest of Cleveland.

1.	Felix Pie
2.	Donald Veal
3.	Jeff Samardzija
4.	Tyler Colvin
5.	Sean Gallagher

The Indians aren't that desperate. And there are plenty of other teams who are interested and have the prospects to make some noise. There was a post on the game recap that couldn't believe that somebody had even mentioned Soto for Sabathia. Why not? Sabathia is a Cy Young winner who is one of the best pitchers in the league. While I don't think the Cubs should entertain that idea and I understand it was just a random post, we all have to remember that you can't get something for nothing...and that's the case with CC.
