And Suddenly...
I'm just sitting here watching the newest videos loaded on BB.com and I got to thinking...
We have quite a few 1st round picks on this team. I never really thought of it until now.
The offense has Spiller and Wood still, with Vince as a backup.
But on the defensive side of the ball... that's where things have changed for us.
Mario, Merriman, Barnett, Dareus and Gilmore, with McKelvin in the mix... add in two high 2nd round picks in Aaron Williams and Jairus Byrd... that's a lot of high end talent on that side of the ball.
I know where you get drafted isn't supposed to matter once you're on the field... but for a team that has, the past few years, lacked serious talent... We've got some now, especially on D!

Thurman Thomas will be at Tioga Downs this Saturday (5/19) from 10-4 for a sports collectibles show and will be signing autographs from 1-3.
Dave Wannstedt was just on SiriusXM NFL Radio Late Hits. For the most part he was on there to talk about the passing of Junior Seau, but then they started talking Bills football.
The one thing that stood out to me was what he had to say about Merriman. He said when he showed up in the weight room the other day he looked like a new man. He said that Shawne is up to 265lbs and has never looked better in his life. Said hes real excited to get his hand in the dirt and come off the ball as a true DE. He told Wannstedt that "Hes not playing in coverage anymore, hes getting after the QB."

Bills sign another. Gino Crump JR. WR from WVU then transferred to Univ of Arizona.
Post Draft Mind Dump
Well first all, we're a better team today than we were 72 hours ago.
I personally loved this draft. Sure we may have not got a QB... but really, we didnt have a shot at one. Brock went early. Wilson went way earlier than expected. Washington took Cousins for some reason.
I cant wait til Aaron Williams and Gilmore are starting outside with Brooks in the slot... I know its not going to be early, but maybe by the end of the year and going forward.
We actually could build for depth this draft instead of trying to find those Kyle Williams, Stevie Johnson type of players. Sure you would like a starter from 5-7, but its tough. Those are where the good teams build their depth and thats what we did today.
Our D is going to be fun to watch.
- Starts with our FA-revamped Dline.
- Barnett coming back, Shepp with another year and real off season under him
- Our secondary has the mix of vets and young guys to spice things up. Those young pups are going to be hungry, Is Flo, McGee and Leo going to hold any of the them off the field?
TJ Graham. Lets see it. On most teams he probably doesnt even come close to getting a chance to be the #2 as a rookie... Well he does here. There has to be another side, opposite of Stevie, and its going to be a 3 way battle between, Graham, Easily and Jones... with an outside shot of Hagan. Who wins it?
Is it September yet?!

Adam Schein picks Ryan Fitzpatrick as his breakout QB for 2012
Pretty self explanatory. Thinks we go OT in the 1st and then get Fitz help with a WR in the 2nd.
A Non Draft Related Buffalo Bills FanPost
Ok Rumblers... were 24 hours away from the draft. Seriously, how many more Mocks and players rankings can we look at?
Im throwing up some of the best Bills youtube videos from the recent past to take a look at and let us escape Kipers hair for a little while.

Part 2 of yesterdays "All Eyez on Me" link from Mocking The Draft.
Good read.
Talked with Bill Polian on SiriusXM NFL Radio tonight...
So I called in and talked with, what I consider, the best GM in NFL history tonight. I asked him about the Bills at the 10 spot. I gave him 3 names that I like: Michael Floyd, Riley Reiff and Dre Kirkpatrick. He said all three are players that would have instant impact on our team, but he also added that he would go against his normal way of drafting. He said he would go with Reiff. He chose him because of Fitz. When Fitz was banged up, we suffered. We need a player that is going to protect him and keep him upright. Go after a WR later, and also CB if needed. But his choice was Riley Reiff. Just thought Id share this with you guys.

Hockey Heaven Expanding to Elmira?
This is just a message board conversation... but a buddy at work told me he heard (I know, I know, we want facts) that Pegula was in talks with the owner of First Arena. They talk about possibly a new team coming in next year or maybe the year after. I dont know if it would still be the ECHL, I assume it would.
Does anyone else have any confirmation of this happening?
Sad story about ex Bill Chris Draft
Its always tough to lose someone, but that is horrible. RIP
Something fishy's goin on around here...
We all know that our beloved Freddy Jackson is not eligible for the Pro Bowl because he was placed on the IR...
But Pats DE Andre Carter was announced as an AFC Starter today, more than a week after he was placed on the IR.
Why is Fred not eligible, but Carter is?
Leino out "for weeks," with a lower body injury.
Title says it all...
Will we ever see the team fully together?
Sedin, Canucks agree with Ruff, Sabres.
Henrik Sedin and Roberto Luongos take on the Lucic/Miller play.
Theyre on our side.
Double Digit Sacks vs Redskins (Stat Correction)
The play where Beck scrambled, fumbled, then recovered his own fumble has now been ruled a sack (Barnett .5 & Batten .5). That makes 10 for Bills Mafia against Washington.
Woo hoo!!

Juggling Goalies
This wont be too long, pretty much just a simple question... But Id like to get your guys take on the Miller/Enroth tandem we have here.
I asked a few of the guys on twitter from WGR but here goes...
I think majority of us are in the Miller is the clear-cut #1, but Enroth is solid and should be trusted at anytime. We know he can play and also spell Miller so we dont tire him out. But my question is, Has Enroth earned the chance to start back to back games, with no injuries involved? (ex. Start him this Saturday vs Florida?)
Im not sure Ruff would do that, but I think that Id be behind it if he did.
Just a little curious to see what you guys think?
Side Note: Weber needs to get in over Sekera this weekend, but thats just my opinion.
They Say 24 Hours...
Everyone always says wait 24 hours until you start to talk about the game rationally. Well, Im about 19 hours early, but honestly I think Im good.
Now first off, of course Id rather win, but at the end of the day, we're 4-2 going into the Bye. We had 3 starting defensive players out (Merriman, Kelsay and Williams). We lost the turnover battle at a -2. We also played a team that hasnt lost back to back home games since 2007.
We should be getting a little more healthier with two weeks off. Kelsay should be back, Williams I expect to be above 90% and Im hoping Merrimans injury isnt all season long, but it is his achillies.
The main reason Im not upset is, we went for the win. A lot of people on here, on WGR, on 97 Rock, etc... are upset with the play call with the Go Route to Stevie that resulted in the 2nd interception from Webster. People, Stevie was open, Fitz just made a poor throw. The play call was perfect, and when he catches and scores, we're up 7 with a little over 4 minutes left. I cant believe people are really questioning Chan Gaileys playcalling, considering a HUGE reason we are 4-2 is... Chan Gaileys playcalling.
So I guess the main reason for this post is to tell everyone to relax a little. We've got Washington coming in after the Bye up in Toronto, theyre a good football team, but definitely beatable. This is a game that if I had to put a wager on, we win. If someone would have told me we'd be 4-2 (1-0 in the division) and essentially still control our own destiny to make the playoffs, in the beginning of the year, I would jump all over that.
So lets get healthy and get set for a hell of a next 2/3's of the season.

Fantasy Hockey
Pretty simple question, but I wanted the writers here to see this. Are we doing this again? I just got an email about signing up for a league and I forgot we did 2 leagues last year. Id like to be in another if you guys are doing it again.

Madden '12 Bills Player Rankings... Kind Of.
This is the list for the 2012 Madden Rankings but it still has all the UFA's on their 2011 teams.
2015 NFL Season.
I was listening to SiriusXM NFL Radio last night and one of the guys, might have been Pat Kirwin, brought up a very interesting observation. In the 2015 NFL there will be two FA classes. The 2010 rookies, along with this years (1st rounders) will all be coming off their original rookie deals because last years were basically all 5 years and with the new CBA, this years 1st rounders are going to have 4 year deals.
Now obviously this is quite a ways away, but he was mentioning the amount of talent in that FA class is going to be the most there has ever been, and that the smart teams (NE, Phi, GB, Pitt, etc) are probably already thinking about that... setting themselves up for the cap room to pounce on the opportunity.
I guess my point is just to bring this to your guys attention, for those that didnt hear or realize (like me) and also I wondered... "Is this something the Bills FO thinks about?"
Chris Drury
Its too bad that Chris Drury is, Chris Drury.
Offseason needs:
- 3rd line Center
- Experience
- Veteran voice, now that Neids and Grier will be gone.
Drury would be the perfect fit here in Buffalo in a 3rd line C, PK time, extra attacker role...
Problem is, hes Chris Drury, and that brings baggage.
I think I would take him back at 3 years/ 6mil, but would it cause problems in the locker room?
Would he expect the 'C'? (Because I still want that to be Vanek)
Can he accept the fact hes not a top 6 Centerman anymore?
Is there a Reiger/Ruff rift with Drury? or vice versa?
If this player was named John Doe and he never played for us in the past I would be screaming for us to sign him... but is Chris Drury the whole person, not just the player, a good fit in Buffalo?
Here comes Goodell.
Basically, in a sentence or two, I want to try and grasp my fellow Rumblers reactions to the following situation. Im not advocating for this draft pick. But there is a good chance it could happen, and he is the most talked about draft pick in recent history. So without futher ado...
Carolina just got done taking AJ Green.
Denver just drafted Von Miller.
Roger Goodell walks to the podium, smiles into the camera and announces...
"With the third overall selection, in the 2011 NFL Draft, The Buffalo Bills select, Cam Newton, Quarterback, Auburn University."
What do you say or think?
PPP (Portland Pirates Postseason)
The Portland Pirates have made it into the second round of the AHL playoffs. They are playing the Binghamton Senators starting later this week. It means players like Enroth, Mancari, Grangani, Ellis, etc will still be playing some playoff hockey.
The reason I bring this up is because they are playing in Binghamton, NY over the weekend... and I was wondering if there are any Southern Tier Sabres fans that are going? Im going to the game Saturday night, wearing my Portland - Gerbe tshirt jersey.
Vote Gerbes "Spin-O-Rama" TSN.ca 'Play of the Year'
First round matchup is against Ovechkin. Gerbe has the lead right now, voting ends Friday, 20th at noon.
Win an adidas adiZero cleat autographed by CJ Spiller.

Vanek named NHL's 1st Star of the Week.
Congrats to Vanek.
Three weeks in a row with a Sabre as an NHL Star of the week. (Miller, Enroth, Vanek)
Just got the Season Ticket Draft Day Event email. Anyone going? I was thinking about it... sounds a little interesting, but Im about 2-2.5 hours out of town so if anyone has gone in the past could you throw a little insight over this way?
Thanks
Fan Appreciation Alumni list, via WGR
Lots of ex-Sabres coming. Should be a fun time. They also are reporting that Pegula is paying for all the alumnis airfare, hotel rooms, transportantion and food for the event.
Perry, Iginla and Enroth earn weekly awards
Jhonas Enroth was named this weeks 3rd NHL Star.
Congrats Jhonasty!!!!
Bob Sanders?
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/02/18/colts-cut-bob-sanders/
I know, I know... this is like a BBMB.com post. "OMG [enter ex-stars name] was released hes the Bills answer!!!!" So Im sorry if it comes off that way... but Indianapolis has released SS Bob Sanders. Now I would be open to the idea (if healthy) for Buffalo to be one of the teams to try and sign him. Get him a deal like we gave Merriman, insentive based. With the departure of Whitner, most likely/hopefully, we need a SS and he was one of the, if not the best in the league. Id be willing to take a flyer on this guy. He has leadership and intesity that players could feed off of. Id be behind this if Nix pursued...
What do you guys think?
