64, Clearwater, longtime Californian and Dodgers fan....in Florida and adopted the Rays, as my AL fave, when they were still the Devil Rays!:-) Jerry West was the reason, in the 50s, that I became a Lakers fan during my childhood in WV. grew up there and received advanced education in the racist Bible Belt (which I left for more libertarian fields and "unapproved" activity; am the consummate "don''t tread on me" libertarian and activist, condiitoned by my code to be honorable in what I do,while saying whatever the hell I feel like saying; thank you Constitution! Afford the same right to others, but demand we all take responsibility for the results; irresponsible folks need to avoid me: hypocrites, white supremacists and fundamentalists are all members of the irresponsibly hypocritical coalition that threatens the very fabric of our free society)
NFL is fun to watch but I've had no real allegiance since I moved from where the Raiders trained (near Santa Rosa, CA) back in the late 70s, early 80s....still have my Raiders windbreaker from that era, but not really a fan of theirs that much anymore. The Bucs fill that gap for now although I haven't been in an NFL stadium for a game since Seattle 1994. The DC United interest is due to my son and grandson in the DC area. I'm trying to get into it! (Played a little soccer 'way back in college but it didn't really interest me like the 3 biggies: baseball, basketball, football that I played some, mostly pickup.) Had two stints with part-time paid sportswriting--Grand Forks Herald and Elkhart Truth during and after my military years (1968 to 1972); Founder and First Publisher, Homes & Land Magazine, Inc./Homes & Lifestyles Magazine, 1976; pro-Earth and pro-American Indian activist since the early 80s; Have written scores of sportsblogs, (and even more non-sports blogs) online since 1996. All my writing that can be found, online and off, is being assembled in a book for my extended family and future generations.

One of the great blessings of my life is to have a huge extended family whom I love dearly. This family is scattered from Coast to Coast and all around the world.

I am a very lucky man, indeed.
