I graduated from UCLA with a BS in PE. Yes, in olden times UCLA offered PE and other teaching majors. The Bruins big basketball run didn't begin until about 3 years after I graduated (early 60's). The Bruins played at the Pan Pacific, the men's gym, Santa Monica CC, etc.
I married my wife (a UCLA Bruin Belle) in 1969 and moved to Eureka, CA. Ten years later we again moved, this time to Kona where we've been for more than thirty years. For 20 years more or less, I had very little access to Bruin sports on TV. After wandering those years in the desert we now get Fox sports and ESPN so I watch almost every basketball and football game.
We have three children, two living in Kona, one in SoCal. Two grandchildren here on the Big Island, two in SoCal, one in Connecticut. We have been in retail our entire married life. As for the degree, I was taking a couple classes at LB State before getting my credentials. I intended to finish at Humboldt State. My wife had two children when we met, and we had a son 11 months after our marriage, so I had a need to make $$ at once. We opened and operated a succesful store in Eureka. After 10 years without summer we matriculated to Hawaii. In Hawaii we became well known as dealers and collectors of vintage Hawaiiana. We closed our brick and mortar store in the Kona Inn 7 years ago and now make our semi-retired living on eBay, our hulaheaven website, antique shows, etc.
