Schwartz also told SI.com that the deal for Cleveland DT Corey Williams was done. The Lions will send a fifth-round pick to the Browns and receive Williams and a 7th-round pick.

WHAT I LIKED
Brodie Croyle: Croyle actually looked like a legit QB yesterday. He had nice zip on the ball, threaded the needle, and even took a hit or two and manaaged to get up quickly. Kudos to the second string O-line for protecting him as well, they looked pretty solid.

I am not here to argue these points with you (not this time) because each opinion has a valid argument and we all the know that there is a reason the Chiefs are drafting at #3 overall, and that is because they have lots of needs. I am here to say that I trust Scott Pioli.

almost 3 years ago Josh_chiefsgame_profile_page_tiny bigknoxy 1 comment

Scott Pioli has already proved that he can build a very solid 3-4 defense in New England and with the current state of the Chiefs defense I say now is just as good as time as any to build a 3-4.

I was lucky enough to get together with Bob Gretz again to ask him some questions about the Chiefs. Gretz talks about the Chiefs record, Tyler Thigpen and the QB situation, and Larry Johnson’s recent off the field issues.

Suppose Brodie doesn’t get hurt and finishes the season out strong, what do you do then? Do you sign Brodie to an extension or let him go and say that he has already proven he can’t stay healthy for a full season?

So I would just like to say "Thank You" to Damon Huard for sucking it up last Sunday and allowing the Chiefs to move on.

If the call in the San Diego vs Denver game that cost the Chargers the game wasn’t enough, the Donkeys are at it again. If you look at the photo below you can see that Denver LB Jamie Winborn is clearly lined up in the neutral zone when the Saints snapped the ball.

Arrowhead Pride Why the Chiefs should have won against the Patriots... and why they didn't

I posted this over at my site too (www.kcchiefsfootball.com) but thought it might be a good discussion point here.

I just thought I would make a nice little list on why the Chiefs should have won against the Patriots and why they didn't. I won't explain these very much, but I don't really feel like they need to be explained, they pretty much speak for themselves.

Why the Chiefs should have won against the Patriots:

  • The Chiefs won the turnover battle 2 to 1.
  • The Chiefs won the Time of Possession battle.
  • Tom Brady was injured early in the game and the Pats had to rely on Matt Cassel.
  • Matt Cassel is a backup at NE and was a backup in college at USC.

Why the Chiefs didn't win:

  • Dwayne Bowe had way too many drops, at least 4, including the possible game tying TD catch
  • Croyle was injured (although I am not totally convinced Croyle would have led us to a TD drive like Huard did). So this one is more based on the theory that our starting QB went out.
  • Inability to convert TO's into points. When you force a team that only lost 6 fumbles all of last season into 2 early fumbles you need to convert them to points
  • LJ had less than 100 yards rushing. I'm not sure exactly on the stat but I know that in games where LJ gets to the century mark the Chiefs tend to have a lot more success.

Do you agree with all of these? Do you have any that you would add or take away?

Yes, as a Chiefs’ fan I would absolutely LOVE to see Matt Cassel under center this Sunday, but from a Patriots perspective there a multiple reasons to keep Brady out.

Arrowhead Pride Excited for the Preseason Home Opener!

I posted this article on my site too (kcchiefsfootball.com)but I thought I would share my excitement with you guys as well.  Let me know how you guys feel.

--

I don't know about you guys, but I really excited to get back to Arrowhead for the first home game of the season, even though it is a preseason game. It has been a long layoff and I need my Arrowhead fix.

After my Jayhawks won the National Championship (Rock Chalk!) it has been pretty slow sports-wise for me... Sure I have got the Royals, who are doing fairly decent this year, but for me that just doesn't compare to the high energy that College Basketball and especially Chiefs Football bring to the table.

Even though the Chiefs might not do too great this year I am still excited because game day is an experience... it's not just "going to a game". Got to get up at the butt crack of dawn, drive to Arrowhead, smell the BBQ in the air, put the BBQ in my mouth, and have a couple drinks. Then comes the game.

And yes I did say Chiefs might not do too great this year, but with that said I think we will surprise a lot of people. I don't know about going to the playoffs or anything like that, but going .500 wouldn't surprise me one bit. In fact anywhere between 5-11 to 9-7 wouldn’t surprise me and that’s what you get with a young team, you just don’t know for sure what will happen.

One of the cool things about having a young team is that (at least at first) they don’t know any better. They don’t know they are not supposed to have a chance to beat the Patriots; they just go out there and give it all they got and try to win. For that I applaud them and I will be there cheering them on in the sea of red! GO CHIEFS!

Also Thanks again Chris for asking me to help out and Primetime great work in the clutch man, you really came through.  Go Chiefs!

Arrowhead Pride Community Projections: Larry Johnson

From the FanPosts.  Consider this part of the 'Community Projections' series Chris runs.    -Primetime

What should we realistically expect to see from LJ this year? I’m sure a lot of you are wondering this, as I am.  Will we see the LJ that broke the Chiefs rushing record, or the one that missed 8 full games last year with a foot injury?  Short answer: don’t know.

Word from camp says LJ is back in full force, going full steam ahead, punishing the people that try to tackle him, and will not go down. However, all it takes is one play to put LJ back on the sideline. I’ve never had a foot injury but I’m sure that if the foot gets tweaked one time it could spell a disappointing season for Johnson and possibly the Chiefs.

LJ is a pivotal part of the Chiefs offense. Don’t forget that up until LJ got hurt last year during the Green Bay game the Chiefs were in first place in the AFC West at 4-3. Now, I’m not saying the Chiefs would have won the division with a healthy LJ, but they most likely would have won a few more games. (which could have totally changed the outcome of this draft)

Bottom line is I don’t think we should expect a 1700 yard season from LJ. What I expect is somewhere between 1300-1500 yards and hopefully around 15 TD’s. Anything above this would be bonus.

For those of you that don’t know me I’m bigknoxy and Chris asked me to write a few post to help out while is in India. He has been really helpful to me on www.kcchiefsfootball.com and I am just trying to return the favor a bit.  Also, if you haven’t been to my site let me know what you think, any feedback is appreciated.

Well, while i was there I was able to snap a couple photos of some of the construction going on for the renovations at Arrowhead, and if you are like me you are interested in this sort of thing. The photos I took were of what I think are going to be the new office building, but if someone knows for sure please let me know.
