Golden State Of Mind Trading up???

So lets examine our trading up possibilities......

No.1 Anthony Davis goes to N.O. already done, over it.

No.2. Charlotte needs just about everything. They have one terrible contract that we would have to take in order to complete a trade with them. Tyrus Thomas at 7.5 mill for 3 years. They also need to stockpile young assets as well, so our 7th pick most likely will need to be included. So that being said, the 3 key elements of this deal would have to be Charlotte trades the 2 and Thomas to the Warriors, and the Warriors trade the 7plus what??? Likely scenarios would include Either RJ or Beans, due to the length (one year less than Thomas) plus more assets. Maybe Dorell and the 30th pick would have to go as well. That scenario seems doable, yet highly unlikely but if the Bobcats like someone around the 7 they may be tempted. If I was them, I'd happily take RJ plus Dorell the 7 and the 30 for the 2nd pick and the ability to get rid of the Thomas contract.

No.3 This spot is the one the Warriors should target if they are really trying to move up. The Wizards could use this pick to trade down, and also unload Blatche at the same time. Another similar scenario could play out where the dubs send them RJ plus the 7 and the 30 for Blatche and the 3. Washington is trying to change the culture of their team, and Blatche is a symbol of what was once all bad in Washington. To be able to unload him for a good character vet on a contact that has less years and to only drop 4 spots while also acquiring another pick could definitely go over well with them.

No.4 Cleveland has no worse contracts than us, and we do not have much to offer them only to trade up 4 spots. Trade with them is unlikely.

No.5 Sacramento has a ton of awful contracts that they'd love to rid themselves of, and are in desperate need of a roster overhaul. John Salmons makes Biedrins money with an extra year, Garcia makes 6 mill for 2 more seasons, and Chuck Hayes makes 5 mill for the next 3. If they are not sold on any players at the 5 I can imagine them wanting to trade down for some contract relief. Most likely scenario with us would be Salmons plus the 5 for RJ plus the 7 and the 35. Question is would the Warriors do it if they saw a can't pass on player still on the board.

My assessment leads me to believe the 2 likely scenarios in which the dubs move up would be to claim either the 2 from Charlotte or the 3 from Washington. So that begs the question then, who to draft at either of these positions??

Personally I'd be extremely happy with either MKG or Robinson at those spots but would lean toward MKG because of need for a 3.

Golden State Of Mind A legitimate offseason plan solving all our issues

-Trade Richard Jefferson, and 7th pick to Dallas for Shawn Marion. Both contracts are similar, same length and Marion provides a huge upgrade at SF for the next 2 years. This also rids us of a non productive/bad contact player in Jefferson. Dallas would probably be game for the 7th pick right?? They do not look poised to go the distance again with their current makeup, they could use a little youth infusion with a high draft pick. Dallas could even use their amnesty on Jefferson to clear up some room for Terry/DWill/ whoever they are going after.

-Trade Biedrins/Tyler and 30th pick to NO for Okafor. Once again, same type of scenario, use our assets to turn non productive contacts into productive ones that could help us win now. NO could bite on that with salary relief, a decent upside player in Tyler and a late 1st right? Its not like they are gonna win a title with Okafor by the time his contract expires, so they would do well to acquire 2 assets in Tyler and the 30th pick while shedding some salary with Okafor. Hell, they could even amnesty Biedrins right??

-Sign Delonte West

-Resign McGuire/Rush

-Draft a Big with the 35th pick

-Draft a Euro project with the 52nd pick

Steph/West/Jenkins

Klay/Rush/West

Marion/Dorell/Rush

Lee/McGuire/Marion

Bogut/Okafor/35 pick

That to me looks like a solid/well balanced team with tons of depth. It has the ability to morph into a bigger better defensive lineup playing Okafor at the 4 with Bogut, or we could play Nellie ball with Lee at the 5 and Marion at the 4. It really does give us a plentiful amount of options. This to me seems like the best most reasonable scenario that the Warriors could swing this offseason to improve our squad, and get rid of our problems.

So, the 2 questions I have are, are these deals possible or am I just trippin thinking we are offering fair value to the other teams?? and, If this did happen, how good would that lineup be??

I think the Spurs and Thunder would still be better than us, but I think we would definitely be just as good as both LA teams, and Memphis if this was our squad next year.

Golden State Of Mind Looking into the crystal ball

Ok so we all know by now that the Warriors aren't making the playoffs, and as strange as it sounds we would all like to see the team tank so that we can keep our top 7 protected pick. I know the rest of the season is gonna suck but lets look to next year and see what we have and what we will be working with.

PG- Curry/Jenkins

SG- Klay

SF-Dorell/Jefferson

PF-Lee

C-Bogut/Biedrins/Tyler

That puts us at about 52 mill in salary with the salary cap being around 58 mill for the upcoming season. So we obviously have some holes to fill at the 2 and 4 positions.

It looks to me like with only 6 mill remaining our hands are slightly tied, and we will probably be unable to keep BRush, who is having a great year, and will probably get a nice contract and possibly a starting role somewhere else. Not to mention we still have Dorell/Jeff and less of a need at the 3 whereas we had no backup 3 coming into this year. I think we should definitely be able keep Dom McGuire maybe give him a 2 year deal for 5 mill? which fills the backup 4 role. After that sign our rookies, to round out our team. Looks to me like we have a pretty clear vision of what our team will look like next year. I don't forsee any other major moves that could upgrade this team. I do know that we have a 4 mill trade exception from the Bogut trade. Anyone else out there know what other possibilities there are?? I'm not sure what the deal with the MLE is, or if the Warriors could use it to keep Rush maybe?? What other possibilities, or players out there that are attainable via free agency that could help us fill some of these spots?? What do you guys think the Warriors will look like next year??

Golden State Of Mind With 23 games to go...

So I was checking out the standings, and realized its actually quite probable that the Warriors will end up with the 7th worst record in the league check it out.....

Charlotte- 7-37

Washington- 10-34

New Orleans- 11-34

New Jersey- 15-32

Toronto- 15-30

Detroit- 16-29

Sacramento- 16-29

Cleveland- 17-26

DUBS-18-25

Right now we have the 9th worst record in the league and need to have 2 teams pass us up if we don't want to have to rely on winning one of the top 3 picks in the lottery in order to keep our pick. As of right now we have 23 games left, and we are currently 1 game better than the Cavs, and 3 games better than the Kings and the Pistons. The Cavs will have a better record than us at the end of the year. That leaves one more team left that we need to lose out to either Detroit or Sacramento, hell maybe even Toronto if they catch a good winning streak. What Im trying to say is, it's actually quite probable that the Dubs at least end up with the 7th worst record in the NBA. Of course that doesn't mean we get to keep our pick, but at least we wont have to win the lottery in order to keep it.

GO CAVS KINGS and PISTONS!!!!!

Golden State Of Mind Looking 4 years into the future.... other thoughts that go along with it

What is going to happen to the dubs in 4 years from now when Mark Jackson's contract is up?? I think this dubs team is going to thrive under Mark Jackson and make the playoffs this year, and every year for the duration of his contract. I think the previous fanpost by FloorBurn was about as dead on as my GSOM is right now. But...... What happens 4 years from now when the Knicks come a knockin. Any fellow A's fans out there will know how this story goes, and its almost picture perfect with Mack Jackson the NY hometown hero coming home to save the franchise when the Carmello/Amare experience just isn't enough. Ya thats right the Knicks will swoop him up so fast, and I wouldn't blame Mark for leaving there would be so much opportunity for him to help the community I don't think he could resist. I think the dubs have a 4 year window to maximize this squad, and I think that Joe Lacob knows it. I guess thats what I would be thinking if I was Lacob, I mean, if you look at it like that the DeAndre attempt makes sense. Of course Lacob was smart enough to know that Chris Paul would eventually end up on the Clippers who pretty much obviously had the best package and willingness to get Paul and stealing DeAndre would not have just been a good offensive move to add him, but a defensive move to keep him away from CP, and Griff our division rivals. Joe Lacob is marking out for bigs because he sees this opportunity that he has with Mark Jackson and knows it has an expiration date. So along with that here is my hope..... If Mark Jackson gets these guys to over acheive their trade value is going to skyrocket, and makes us also a desirable location to play for because we are playing well and have an owner thats laying it all on the line could we possibly get Dwight?? I mean if Ekpe Udoh, and Beidrins are playing well, and Klay Thompson is puttin in some good scoring off the bench Charles Jenkins is outplaying the other backup PG's, I could see a Biedrins/Udoh/Klay/Steph Curry being the package that could land the dubs Dwight. Anyone notice how Mark Jackson keeps talking about how its Jenkins team????(taken completely out of context, but still.....maybe a little forshadowing perhaps) This could all be just a little too much beer talking, but is that too far fetched to think???? I mean really, if the Magic could get Curry, Udoh, Klay, and Andris, they wouldn't consider that for an already half way out the door Dwight? Who has a better offer?? Actually the real question is where does Dwight wanna go??? It's quite apparent with the CP3 deal that Dwight has the upper hand in finding his new home because his true value is in whether he'll resign. So Dwight basically has to ok a trade or it isn't happening because his trade value is 5x what it is now with a verbal commitent to resign/pick up player option...(See Clippers/CP3) Dwight did say he wants to play with Monta right? Dwight would love to play for Mark Jackson, a former player who Dwight admires and respects right? An owner who has shown the willingness to do what it takes to make his team better, and compete for Championships. Yes Championships.....right???? I have faith the Lacob will make a play when there is a play to be made, and I think thats what the Dubs will be able to offer and that is what will give us the best chance to win a championship the soonest. Hello Monta Ellis, David Lee, Dorell Wright, coach Jackson, Joe Lacob. Even if we could just get him to agree to his player option for the second year wouldn't we have to do it??

Magic:

Curry/Nelson

Jrich/Klay

Turk/QRich/Klay

Davis/Anderson/Udoh

Beidrins/Udoh/Orton

I mean the Magic pretty much suck without Dwight and need to fill a ton of holes and this I believe could be sufficent enough to make it happen.

Jenkins/Smith/Monta

Monta/Rush/Ubilies

Dorell/McGuire/Rush

Lee/McGuire/Tyler

Dwight/Kwame/Tyler

Now were talkin..... Not that this would be a championship team this year necessarily, but I could see some unrestricted free agents wanting to sign here for the vet minimum this summer. Jamison maybe? Barnes? Oh how the fans would love it!!! AH hell maybe J-Kidd could wanna come back home for a back-up role and eventual job in the organization at the mini-midlevel.

Jenkins/Kidd

Monta

Wright/Barnes/McGuire(resigned)

Lee, Jamison

Dwight/Tyler

Elaborating on the Charles Jenkins thing... He's big, he's getting rave reviews on his D so far, he's shown in college to be a consistent scorer/leader of his team. He's got the same story as Mark Jackson as far as rough NY upbringing. He's mature, two months away from being 23, its the perfect setup really.

Am I crazy for thinking this is somewhat realistic?

Am I crazy for taking over an hour to go on a semi-faded rant about where my GSOM is at?

Would you guys be for or against this scenario?

Is this a championship team?

What a better rebuiling package a team could offer to dwight that is better than that?

Golden State Of Mind Big Picture

So I've been thinking recently that the Warriors so far have done a great job this offseason at addressing our future. I feel like many of the posters here feel like the dubs needed to draft a defender in the draft, but I think our front office did the right thing. They drafted a guy that they felt was the best player available. When you are in a position like the dubs, picking a defender in the late lottery does not make you a title contender, it's just some quick fix to make you feel better about how poor the defense was last year. Im not going to go off on how I feel about Klay Thompson, but I am going to talk about how when you are a mediocre NBA team, you should never draft for need!! Once you are in a situation where you are getting deep into the playoffs, and you are missing that one piece, then you draft the guy that best fits that need. If you are the dubs, it's time to stockpile some talent!! We are not in a contending position and drafting based on need right now would be a mistake. With that said, I applaud the Dubs for doing the right thing and not drafting based on defensive need. SO lets gaze into the crystal ball.....

Next year as is shapes out like this...

PG: Curry, Jenkins, Lin/Law

SG: Monta, Reggie, Klay

SF: Dorell, Klay, Reggie

PF: Lee/Udoh/ Amundsen

C: Udoh/Biedrins/Tyler

Giving these guys time to play together will give us a clearer picture of the future and we can make our decisions based on how they perform. Let's be honest, no body has any expectation of Andris to be productive this year. Everyone wants him traded. Our management is smarter than that. Why trade a proven double-double machine for garbage when his value is at an all time low. This is what poor management teams do, is they trade a player when their value is at an all time low. Keeping Biedrins will increase his value and make him a much more valued commodity. In fact if Andris can turn back the clock, even to be 80 percent of what he was, it seems like a package of Monta, Andris, and whatever other fillers or picks, for Dwight and whatever other fillers or picks doesn't sound so illogical for Orlando. Andris has way more value than we realize, but fortunately our management recognizes this and is holding out for something better. Thank God.

The big picture is patience, which I see our management staff doing a great job of. Knee jerk management decisions are what has kept the dubs soooo bad for so long. So have faith dubs fans, it might take a little longer than you want, but we are doing the right things to be a perennially successful team/organization.

What I can see is the Big Picture for the dubs is this

Core Pieces:

Curry

Thompson

Lee

Dorell

Udoh

Tyler

Tradeable pieces:

Monta

Andris

Expendible Pieces:

Reggie

Amundsen

Jenkins

Lin

Law

I think the Dubs are looking for player to add to this core, while maximizing the value of their tradeable and expendible assets.  I like these core assets, and feel like the dubs do to and are working hard to find a way to maximize the value of all tradeable/expendible assets.

My Ideal 2012 dubs

Curry/Jenkins

Klay/Reggie

Dorell/ Best player available.... hopefully Batum/Wilson Chandler.... will settle for a Matt Barnes or any other gritty cheap player

Lee/Udoh

Bynum/Udoh/Tyler

Doesn't necessarily need to be Bynum, id rather have Dwight, but I think that Monta and Biedrins could net the Dubs Bynum/ a resigned Shannon Brown. or at least just Bynum. I think the management staff sees a similiar picture to this with your traditional center. Having Bynum comes with the injury risk, so this is why drafting Tyler is big for us as he can get his P.T. and growth time while Bynum is having his 15-25 games off per season.

Golden State Of Mind Dubs thoughts......

So I have been thinking alot about the dubs the last week. Being pulled through the coaching hire, assistant coaching hire, Monta rumors, collective bargaining agreement deadline, the draft, and so many other things this last week I thought...... What if absolutely nothing happens and the dubs just draft 11 and stay pat, what is the best case scenario? For whatever reason I thought about the current make-up of the team and it conjured memories of the 04 Pistons who won the title. I know everyone is gonna rip my post apart because of "defense" but I would like to just draw some sililarities to the two teams

Curry=Billups

Curry I can definitely see as taking the role of Mr. Big Shot for the dubs. Control the game, make the big shot and know when and who to pass the ball to at what times(Mark Jackson getting the PG's best out of Curry)

Monta=RIP

Scorer, comes off screens for baseline jumpers, otherwise creates good shot for self based on working for position on offensive end.

DWright=Prince

Intangibles people, jack of all trades, good size, good all around game. DWright has the 3 pt shot Prince has got the D

DLee=R. Wallace

Worst comparison of them all, but highly effective on offense the both of them, able to knock down open looks from the perimeter, trash talkers

Udoh=B. Wallace

Wallace has got Ekpe on the glass, but Ekpe has got some flashes of an offensive game. One on one defensively, Ekpe is extremely good, and could end up having Wallace like career numbers on the defensive end.

In closing,

I hope the dubs keep Monta, and see how assertive he can be on the defensive end for a whole season. I would absolutely hate myself and every Monta hater on this site if Monta becomes an all-star for another team, or wins a championship without the golden state logo across his chest.

No Monta trades that don't involve the dubs getting a super-star!!!

Liberty Ballers Monta's true value....

First off, die hard dubs fan here, just wanted to come by and post some of my opinions about the speculated trade of Ellis for Igoudala and pehaps lend some insight into Monta's true value.

I will recognize that Monta is not a good defender. I would attribute this to our system, and the mentality of defense that has spawned from the system. He takes too many risks and he has no inside presence to compensate for his risk taking. However, and if there are GSW fans here reading this, we have all seen a motivated Monta play exceptional defense. I've watched Monta destroy some superstars with stellar defense... (Roy, Durant) My point here is that Monta has the potential to be a much better defender if put in a different system.

Monta Ellis is not just a scorer, he is an unstoppable scorer. Monta Ellis has superstar ability when it comes to scoring. He consistently is at the top of the league in points in the paint for guards, along with the Kobe's and the Wade's, showing that he knows how to get to the rack and finish. He also has that respect from the league that when teams play the warriors their defensive plan is to stop Monta Ellis....and he still for the most part asserts his will and scores, even when a team's whole game plan is to stop him.

If Monta is put in a role as a slasher/true two guard, rather than hybrid combo guard on offense his efficiency will improve dramatically. When Baron was running the show Monta's percentages were through the roof because he had guys making plays for him. Don't be mislead by those percentages you see, Monta in the right system is IMHO an unstoppable highly efficient scorer. Monta having to do everything for his young inexperienced team with absolutely no depth takes a big hit in efficiency which most players would if put in a similar situation.

I am soooo sick of people on the GSOM board and on this board acting like its highway robbery for the 76ers to give up Igoudala for Ellis. Monta Ellis is a leader, a fighter and a winner. He gets hospitalized and plays the next day, he plays through whatever injuries or controversy might be surrounding him. He hits game winning and game tying shots with regularity. He's clutch, exciting, and would definatelty make me a 76ers fan next year.

I just want to bring a differing viewpoint from everything Im hearing which is Igoudala's value is way higher that Monta's which I highly disagree with. Igoudala is a good fit in GS, because of the structure of the team, but IMHO Monta is a more valueable player with a much higher upside. Believe me when I say this, Monta will be your favorite player on your team next year if he is traded.

Golden State Of Mind Potential trade with Memphis......

Alright so here is my trade proposal.....

Memphis Trades:

S&T Marc Gasol 10-13 mill

Tony Allen

S&T OJ Mayo

GSW Trades:

Monta Ellis

Andris Biedrins

11th pick

New Rosters

Memphis:

PG: Conley/Vasquez

SG: Ellis/Young

SF: Gay/Battier

PF: ZBo/Arthur

C: Biedrins/Haddadi/11th pick?

GSW:

PG; Curry/Lin

SG: Allen/Mayo

SF: DWright/Reggie

PF: Lee/Amundson

C: Gasol/Udoh

Memphis gets to play with a core of those guys for years, and still have a gritty bench, while GSW gets waaaay better at defense and also bigger. Money would work, would Memphis be interested? Would we? Thoughts?

Golden State Of Mind Observations and assessments Team USA...

I just finished watching the replay of the Unites States scrimmage and was very surprised with what I saw. Just wanted to get my thoughts out there are see if you guys who watched the game are feeling me on this.

Players who were most impressive:

1.) Derrick Rose: I like many of the GSoM community share the belief that Derrick Rose is overrated and relies to much on his athleticism to make plays rather than his BBIQ and doesn't have much range, but he was extremely impressive in this game. He was the fastest guy on the court, took it hard to the rack, made good passes, and protected the ball extremely well against Rondo, who is one of the best on ball defenders in the league.  After this game I expect him to be the starting point guard of the team.

2.) Eric Gordon: Man this guy played great! He had a couple of ill advised shots, but for the most part he knocked down open looks, and hit muliple 3's. Not only that he played point and did a good job of protecting the ball, even though he has an ugly dribble and doesn't keep the ball close to his body. His defense was pretty good too, he had some good on ball defense and a couple of sneaky steals on post players he crept up on. Definately was impressed with him, and expect him to be on the team even though I thought for sure he'd be one of the first cut. Good day for him.

3.) Andre Igoudala: Man this guy looked good..... He's definitely put on more muscle this off season and looks almost LeBronish, even his facial features somewhat resemble LeBron although im kinda stretching with that, but he looks physically amazing. The commentators were talking about how he was talking about being committed to being a defensive stopper this year, and it sure looks like hes been putting in work. He was excellent in his minimal playing time, playing good defense, making the right plays, and surpizingly hitting some deep jumpers, i believe he had 17 points on 6 shots!!!! Amazing!!! I expect a huge year from this guy and definitely will be trying to have him on my fantasy team. His free throws are still pretty ugly though.

4.) Rajon Rondo: Man this guy is a Hawk on defense, I got scared every time he guarded Curry because he was causing Curry all kinds of problems. He was very active on D, was very good at finding the open guys even forcing it sometimes and still making the perfect pass. He knocked down a three and got to the rack when he pleased, although he missed a couple tough layups he was still able to get to the rack. Definitely see him making the team as well

Players who were unimpressive:

1.) Gerald Wallace: Definitely out of his league, couldn't make any shots, didn't make anything happen. I don't see him making the team especially since he said something to the effect of being in Turkey might be a little overwhelming for him. Didn't do anything impressive on either end and was basically a ghost except for all his missed open shots.

2.) Brook Lopez: I know hes recovering from being sick, but he just looked awful. Late on rotations, ugly offensive moves, punked for rebounds, not much good to say about him, would rather have McGee on the team than him.

3.) Stephen Curry: Well he wasn't that unimpressive as much as I am a huge fan of his and thought he made some pretty poor plays and I'm being tough on him. He did knock down some open 3's and had some descent passes, but took several ill advised shots. In fact I can remember 2 contested long jumpers off screens that he missed, and then got beat down the court on the other end for a lay-up. Uhhhh that was ugly. Rondo definitely had his way with Curry on defense. Curry definitely hustled out there but Nate had him on a short leash ala Nellie on Randolph...Too many mistakes!!!

4.) Chauncey Billups: Didn't make shots, made poor decisions, wasn't really a factor at all. Not much else too say except unimpressive

A few other observations:

Durant made way too many mistakes handling the ball, he needs to trust his point guards to make plays, although he did have a couple of good passes, he had wayyyyy too many turnovers. Still the scoring is there.

JaVale McGee has some good flashes, in his first minute he scored 6 points had a couple of boards and blocked an Odom 3. Sweet finish with the left hand in the paint too. Seemed a little bit out of shape as the game went on, but had some pretty impressive moments.

Tyson Chandler was really good, it was like he was back on the hornets doing what he does best, but geez make some free throws pleeeeese those were some ugly attempts!!

OJ Mayo is just ok at everything and not good at anything, he did knock down some shots though.

Kevin Love tenacious on the offensive glass

The way i see the team shaking out

PG: Rose, Billups(for leadership), Rondo

SG: Igoudala, Curry, Gordon

SF: Durant, Gay

PF: Odom, Love

C: Chandler, McGee (unless Lopez recovers soon)

Wallace, Green, and Granger aren't better than Gay and Durant and are redundant. Mayo doesn't have a role. Westbrook and Evans aren't better than Rose and Rondo and are redundant.

I can see Gordon or Curry getting cut for either Green or Granger, but most likely it would be Granger over Gordon.

I can also see us going small with this lineup:

Rose

Curry

Igoudala

Durant

Odom

That's all I got, we'll see how this all unfolds!!!

Golden State Of Mind "The Secret"

First of all I would like to thank all of you fans for doing research and creating insightful fanposts that help me easily and quickly access important Dubs information. There has been a lot of good discussion on all the draft prospects, and who we should trade for and after seeing so many different ideas I thought Id repay the favor of all your hardwork and give back by offering my opinion.

I have recently been reading a book by Bill Simmons titled "The Book of Basketball". The reason i mention this, is there is a chapter early in the book where Bill is recreating a discussion he had with Isaiah Thomas and about how Isaiah had mentioned to him what "The Secret" to having a successful team in the NBA is. (This will sound kind of strange seeing how Isaiah completely forgets the secret exists as a G.M.) The Secret according to Isaiah and Bill is that "it isn't about basketball." To further elaborate, the secret to having a successful team according to Bill is "they won because they liked each other, knew their roles, ignored statistics, and valued winning over everything else."

What the Warriors need to do in order to take the next step as a franchise, is they need to start bringing in more players that understand "The Secret" of basketball. I have a great example of a player in this year's draft that a lot of fans here would like us to draft, is very skilled and has loads of potential, but who is also selfish, immature, and hasn't the slightest clue about "The Secret."

The parts that really stand out to me are at the one minute mark where the reporter asks him something to the effect of was there a time when you knew you were ready for the NBA? The dude says "NO" are you freaking kidding me? Then he follows it up by saying "it was always, I would like to be in the NBA." Watch it for yourself and make your own observations, but this guys body language stinks, he's clearly a me first player with serious maturity issues. Later in the interview a little before the three minute mark a reporter asks him about what he means by telling the truth to GM's about his maturity issues, and Cousins responds by saying "Im a work in progress" with the whiny tone in his voice with the poor me look on his face. Ok, i'll stop there because you have to see this interview for yourself, its quite revealing. In closing, I challenge you with this question.......Would you hire this applicant? Seems like a loser to me, who is never gonna figure out "The Secret."

I feel that alot of us fans are also most frustrated with the players on our team that don't seem to have a true grasp of the value of "The Secret." These players include Monta, Maggette, and Randolph. These guys are all sooooo talented but we are always frustrated with them because we know deep down that they only give a crap about themselves, and winning takes a back seat to that. All of these guys should be the first players to go from the Warriors because their selfish play and attitude (not so much Maggette on attitude) is detrimental to creating an environment of winning that holds selfish players accountable for their shortcomings.

Guys on our team the understand "The Secret":

Curry, Morrow, George, Tolliver, Turiaf

This should be our core group of guys going forward. I know that's not much, but I can assure all of the Warrior fans that these 5 guys are all down to go to war for us every night and give it everything they got.

Guys I'm not sure about but id also like to keep:

Williams: Haven't seen enough of him but like what ive seen so far

Wright: Like his basketball potential, not sure about his drive to succeed

CJ: Doesn't say much, has the Tim Duncan game face, but seems to give all hes got when hes out there

Bookie: Shown sign of being a solid player, excited to see him return from injury

Biedrins: Awful last year gonna give him the injury benefit of the doubt and hope to see a return to double double form.

Guy who just needs to go because he has no value: Vlad Rad

I know thats not much, but what could the Warriors plug in here with the 6th pick, Monta, Maggette, and Randolph as trade bait. Seems like we could probably get alot of different players with different packages including those assets. How about Monta, Maggette, and Randolph to the Bulls for Noah, Hinrich and Deng. We do this trade to get Noah and have our PG and C positions locked up with guys who are solid, selfless players. I know thats alot to give up talent wise, but think it would be a wise investment going forward with this team. I think defensively we would be vastly improved and team chemistry would sky rocket.

Imagine if the Bulls could then sign LeBron and have Monta LeBron and Rose? Plus Randolph? I think they'd do it.

So I would love to get Paul George or Wes Johnson with our pick, these guys seem to really enjoy hoops and are ready to have a job in the NBA. They would also fill our biggest void of the 2/3 position for the next 4-5 years. Im saying this because im not sure if we will keep Reggie, Bookie, and Morrow.

I just want a team of selfless guys who love playing ball. I'm tired of selfish me first players bringing down our organization using their talent and their agents to squeeze all the money they can out of us before their career is over. Its time for a change, get rid of all the players who don't know the secret and build around core guys that do!!!!

PG: Curry, Hinrich,Watson

SG: Reggie, Morrow, Bookie

SF:Johnson, Deng, D.George

PF: Wright, Turiaf, Tolliver, Vlad Rad

C: Noah, Biedrins

Who is your lineup of "The Secret" team, and the ANTI Secret team'

Secret Team:

PG: Nash, Curry

SG: B Roy, Ray Allen

SF: Battier, Grant Hill

PF: Duncan, Gasol

C: Dwight, Noah

ANTI Secret Team:

PG: Baron, Marbury, Arenas

SG: Iverson, Monta

SF: Melo, Sjax

PF:Bosh,  Amare

I'm too tired to proofread, but I hope you guys enjoyed the post!!!!!!!!!!

Golden State Of Mind Legit proposal........(s)

Alright guys here it is......I feel like its kind of legit or has the makings of a legit propsal for both teams. Before judging this trade please read my reasoning and then make your judgements.

To the Hornets : Monta Ellis

                              Anthony Morrow

                              Brandan Wright

                              Speedy Claxton

To the Warriors: Chris Paul

                              Devin Brown

                              Morris Peterson

That would just be too awesome though, It seems intriguing to me, and I think we could at least get talks started right there. Claxton for Mo Pete seems like a good deal sweetener seeing as it would give the hornets a little over 5 mill in Salary Cap relief after this season. They probably wouldnt play Mo Pete much anyways if they got monta and morrow locking down the 2. Then New Orleans will have successfully added 3 good/potentially great players shed over 5 million but pay the ultimate price for getting rid of CP3. Its not like that team is gonna win a championship before CP's contract expires and I think they've realized this. This could be their opportunity to cash in on some diamonds in the rough, while saving money, and knowing that possibly they might get the better end of the deal when all is said and done.

                              2009 Warriors

CP/Curry

Jack/Beli

Bookie/Mags

Randolph/Turiaf/Mags/Bookie

Beidrins/Turiaf

Bench : Acie, Mo Pete, Devin Brown

                              2009 Hornets

Monta/Collison                        or                        Collison/Daniels

Morrow/Wright                                                    Monta/Morrow

Peja/Butler

West/Wright

Chandler/Armstrong

Bench: Daniels/Claxton/Posey                        Wright/Claxton/Posey

Daniels and Claxton are both expirings worth about 12 million combined , add this to Hilton Armstrong's 2.8, B-Wright's 2.7, Rasaul Butler's 4, and David West's 2 million and that gives them almost 24 mill in flexibility. This could potentially give them enough to resign West at the end of this year since this is his last year as well. At this point if the Hornets dont make moves, they're not gonna have any money for West or any other good free agent to help out CP after this year. This is why that extra 5 mill off the books is critical. Since they are 8 mill over the cap right now that puts them 16 mill under at the end of this year instead of 11. I think they realize this and pull the trigger on my deal. Otherwise it will be extremely hard for them to keep West, and w/o West and no money to spend CP3 will not be able to bring a championship to N.O. during the duration of his contract which has 3 yrs left. Time for the Hornets to sell and the Warriors to swoop!

                          2010 Hornets

Collison/filler

Monta/Morrow

Peja/Posey

West/ BWright

Chandler/1st rounder

After this season, Peja and Tyson are up,  26 mill more off the books

                            2011 Hornets

Collison/First rounder

Monta/Filler

Morrow/Posey

West/BWright

2010 first rounder/filler

Seems to me its time for the Hornets to rebuild (especially due to their financial situation), and this looks like it could be the starting of a solid core at a good price. This trade doesn't seem all that bad for the Hornets. They'd be instantly young within 2 years, and save tons of money. Monta, West, Morrow, Collison, Wright have two years together under their belt, and they could make a run at the Po's by 2011/12 if they add the right fillers at the right prices. They would also have an exciting team for 09, and 10, with loads of potential. What do you guys think?

Obviously this trade would kick ass for the Dubs because they would be an instant Contender adding the best point guard in the game, and getting rid of the glut of good guards at the one and the two. Curry can learn from the best, and play combo, or we could just trade him .Curry and Mags for Boozer, oh man now were really talking, this means we keep CJ too if we do this trade. I could see Utah doing this one too. Curry gives them a good back up PG with lots of potential, and Mags gives them a legit hard nosed scoring wing. We hate to part with Curry for a one year rental, but we also get rid of Mags contract and could potentially resign Boozer at the end of the year if all works out well.

If the trade goes down too just imagine........drool, drool, drool

                                            2009

CP/CJ                                                                                    Deron/Curry

Jack/Beli                                                                               Brewer/Korver

Randolph/Bookie                                                                Kirilenko/Maggette

Boozer/Randolph                                                                Millsap/Kirilenko

Andris/Turiaf                                                                         Okur/Koufos

Give Nelly his final hoorah with this championship contender............that's a great 9 man rotation!!!  Utah seems like they just got a whole lot more versitile with two legit scoring options off their bench, what better deal will the get for Boozer anyways!!

Golden State Of Mind Where the West stands.........

It just dawned on me yesterday as I was looking at the current rosters for next year and what the Warriors playoff chances were as of right now.

For sure playoffs:

Lakers: duh

Spurs: Of course

Nuggets: Definately

Mavs: Most likely

Blazers: Pretty sure

Jazz: Great coach top 3 Pg I think they make it, they had just as much injury issues as us last year and still got in

Ok so thats 6 teams in wiith two spots left

Teams on the bubble

Hornets: CP best Pg in the game good compliment with West. Other than that they suck and have no depth and when i say no depth I mean absolutely no depth

Warriors: Make your own arguements, I could write for hours on this one

Suns: Couldnt make the playoffs last year when healthy(minus Amare), lost Shaq, gonna lose barnes and hill, Nash getting frustrated. Ok does everyone remember the year Amare burst onto the scene, the Suns had a great year and everyone was raving about him, the next year he was out all year and the suns did even better without him. I dont think he is that valuable and that season proved it to me. Team definately on the decline.

Rockets: No Yao no McGrady no Artest looking pretty bad for the Rockets this season but I still put them as a bubble team cuz they seem to be able to gut out wins no matter what they are up against

Teams that are most likely lottery bound:

Kings

Clippers

OKC

Memphis

Minnesota

So guys I hope you are seeing what I am seeing here and that is that we have an extremely legitimate shot at making the playoffs. Looking at it like this definately makes me feel like we could even sneak out a 7th seed and not have to play the Lakers in the first round, Even though that would be an awesome exciting series. Are you guys feeling me on this or what? I think we could easily have a better record than all those bubble teams. I know my assesments of all these teams was not thourough, and my grammar and spelling suck, but as bball fans im pretty sure you guys can make your own arguements along these lines. I hate to say it too but i might have even put the Clips as an on the bubble team this year.

Golden State Of Mind Coaching philosophy........... the development halter

Alright guys I think I might have just realized the biggest hole in Nellie's coaching philosophy. Most of you probably already have seen this, but I just found the words that summed it all up for me. He does not know how to develop players! Don't get me wrong, I loooooooove Don Nelson, but it just seems like the guy is too impatient. Some of you might say, well what about Timmy, or Baron, or Monta, they are/were great players because of Nelly. Well ya I agree, but did Nellie really develop these guys into great players, or were they just really talented players regardless, that flourished in a great system? Id say the latter.

Nellie has a great system, I love small ball, I love entertaining basketball with breath taking play after breath taking play ( I hate to say it, but its kinda fun watching the Knicks these days, you should check them out.......god I feel so horrible saying that.....) Anyways, the point I am getting at is Nelly is a great coach with a great/fun system, but he is not good at developing his young talent.

Let'slook at some of the rookies/sophomores weve had since Nelly came back on board with us for the 06/07 season

Diogu.................we all loved him, amounted to nothing

O'Bryant........................ditto

Lasme..............more of the same

Kosta.............moving on

B Wright ................really??

Belinelli.................2 weeks ago hes at the top of this list

Monta.........the exception.............top 5 fastest guys in the NBA perfect for this type of play

But why is it like this, why can't these guys become studs in Nellyball which is so awesome and fun to watch?

Its simple, Nelly is too damn impatient!!! Nelly is famous for his doghouse, but his doghouse might as well just be called the development halter! The guy coaches a great game, but he won't let his second string players, usually the rookies and sophomores play because he doesnt trust them! How can you possibly develop a player when he gets pulled because he missed his defensive assignment? This just alienates players in this day and age. I think the mentality of players these days is way more fragile than it used to be when Nelly was playing. Its hard for these players to thrive with Nelly because they are sensitive, and Nelly is cutthroat. He doesnt give them an opportunity to fall on their face, which in turn gives them an opportunity to pick themselves up. These guys are so worried about playing perfect so they dont get put in the "development halter," that its hard to play with confidence on the court.

What Nelly needs to do is take the Phil Jackson approach. Meaning, let your rookies play through their mistakes, let them play even though they are stinking it up so bad, let them get so embarrassed about their game that they feel like they've let the team down. This is when players usually respond. Even though sometimes they'll lose the game for you, they need to experience the feeling of letting their teammates down. Next time they will play harder and try even more because the coach is telling them they're gonna be in the game at critical times and they need to figure out how to perform in those situations, or they will be letting their team down. This is what Phil did with LA's second unit, he forced them to play early in the season, even when they were stinking it  up.  He also let them play when they are doing better than the starters. This made them stronger and more experienced and primed for a deep playoff run. This "developed" them into better players. Nelly on the other hand is so impatient, he refuses to let his young players play big (by big I mean important, not lots of) minutes. Instead of letting them learn on the job, he benches them, scolds them, and puts them in the "development halter." Even when they are playing better than the starters, he will bench them when the big minutes arrive. Unfortunately some of these players never get out of the "development halter" and never develop. I think Nelly needs to change his approach!!!

BUT WAIT!!!! THERE IS STILL HOPE!!!! Right now the Warriors suck soooooo bad that Nelly is being forced to start playing the young guys. All of a sudden Marco is looking like a stud! Hopefully Maggette says hurt(or more preferrably hes pulling a Harrington till we trade him for anything) so that we can let these young guys DEVELOP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Golden State Of Mind I couldn't help but notice......

So im bored checking out some dubs stuff, looking at their pictures from China and it hits me real hard. Someone is missing from these photos of the team at the great wall. Yep, its Maggette! Is this guy a loner, or is he just selfish, or was he sick or something? It just makes me sick thinking about it because of all the negative stuff we've been hearing about him. Or maybe he was the guy taking the picture I don't know.

Golden State Of Mind Injury time/weaknesses/depth

What got me thinking about this was some post on realgm.com where some dude basically says he sees Randolph getting 27 mins a game next year, followed by a Chad Ford article about how the dubs did nothing to improve their weaknesses.

Which made me think thats a load of crap, and thats even more of a load of crap!

First, I think any sane Warrior fan will agree with me, AR will not average 27 mins a game next yeat nuff said,

Second, the Dubs did everything to strenghten their weaknesses first of which being depth. Some people wondered why give up a pick for Marcus Williams when we have CJ? Its simple, depth. Im kinda happy knowing that if Ellis, or Williams get hurt we got CJ around. I cant see Ellis and Marcus both playing 82 games each so you know CJ is gonna get some run eventually.

Why get Corey Maggette when  we have Azubuike and why resign bookie when we just payed Maggette? Its simple, depth. I like knowing that Bookie, Jax, and Maggette will be manning down our 2-3 spots, while Bellinelli and Randolph wait in the wings for some of those minutes. It seems Magette is pretty fragile, good for about 65 a season. Jax and Bookie wont both play 82 each either. Im happy knowing Marco and Anthony will be swooping up those minutes because they both bring a unique a set of intangibles to the table, although very raw.

Why not trade Harrington since we have Wright and possibly Randolph waiting in the wings? Once again my friends the simple answer is depth! I kinda like knowing that if Big Al goes down my team has two freakishly long young possible stars waiting to gobble up those minutes.

The Turiaf signing is a no brainer because hes a real improvement in some weak areas. (Come on Chad Ford) Anyone can see that signing adresses some huge issues we struggled with last season.

Main issue last year was depth (Of course rebounding, defense, and freethrow shooting too). Nelly ran our guys to death last year and obviously overused some of our starters, This year we have depth so while our starters rest we will get really solid contributions from our bench.

Dont get it twisted though I fully believe Nelly is going for it all next year, and he better be. This is why I like our coach, he's about winning and he'll take risks to win. I do think he'll still ride his horses to the brink, Im  just glad this year he has more horses to ride with.

Golden State Of Mind Maggette's mind frame

It seems some of us are concerned with Maggette's wanting it factor. Some say he's a black hole on offense. Some say he might be too selfish to buy into the team concept. This made me think..........

Alot of us die hard fans got to see his interview after he signed the contract and what his feelings are about coming to GS. Something that stook out in my mind was him saying this is Monta's team, or something to that effect. This makes me think that when Mully was telling him about what role he would be used in, he told Maggette strait up what he expects from him. Maggette later mentions that Mullin did talk to him about what role he wants him to play in the locker room. He's well aware that signing that lucrative deal with the dubs binds him to playing a veteran leadership role on the team. I think Magette will show us a different game next year. He finally got his deal that sets him for life, he gets to stay in Cali, hes not expected to be the MAN on our team, he gets a fresh start, he gets a new coach...... I dont think were gonna see much BLACK HOLE offense from him next year. I actually think it will be better because now his role isn't the scorer, its more to make the right play. On the Clippers the right play was to shoot every time because your team sucks, thus playing the Carmello Anthony role of never passing and shooting everytime the ball gets to you.

I just think these are the things on his mind, and I think our expectations of him should be just that. This is what he said to the fans, and he knows hes accountable to our franchise to play the role we want him to play. I think well seem a more more TEAM focused Maggette next year.

Man.... you know you're addicted to the Warriors when you're creating posts about Corey Maggette at 1 AM

Golden State Of Mind When will we know?

So apparently today is the Lakers last day to match our offer to Turiaf, what time is the deadline for them to match? What are we hearing about this right now?  It seems like we will get him. I was on Realgm and it already showed him as being part of our team. How much more would the Lakers have to pay him to match us? Is it between his agent and the Lakers like say his agent says he wont resign for anything less than 1 mill a seaon more, or is it if they pay him an extra 50 bucks he has to resign...anyone know this info?

Golden State Of Mind Breeding a team

Alright guys, were all talking about the these big free agents this year, and of all the names I heard I thought....... Do any of these guys have a ring?

Brand, Smith, Igoudala, Okafor, Baron, Magette, Gordon, Deng, Childress....

Nope, none of em. Guys seriously how stupid would the Dubs be to overpay for any of these players who havent proven they can win in this league.

THE TIME HAS COME for the Dubs to get smart and use this year as the year to position themselves for greatness. And this is how it is done.....

Resign Monta and AB..............I think we all agree that we want to see Monta and Andris in our starting 5 in 5 years.

By the way, the Monta experiment is in full effect this year, Monta will be given the position they have been grooming for him the past 2 seasons. He is our PG of the future, and he will be a damn good one. Want to, but dont need to explain fuller.

Fill out our roster with cheap vets.......hopefully Buike at least and roll with it.

Certaintys would be

Monta/CJ

Buike/Marco

Jackson/Randolph

Harrington/Wright

Andris

This puts us in the drivers seat for out future. It gives us this whole year to evaluate all of our young talent. Lets say we dont make the PO's. We would add another lottery pick to our already young and talented core which has also had a year to gel. Say we make the PO's. Then great bring it on lets go spend the money on the players that are making it happen for us. I expect us to not make the PO's and be in the lottery next year with a good pick, money to spend, and a more veteran team with a season to gel under their belts.

The West is too good this year for us to think of making the finals. But dont for a second think the dubs wont still be the most entertaining team in the league to watch.

2009 will be AL's last contact year and we will probably be able to deal him for something remotely valueable, if not just keep him and sign him cheap if we still want him. We will now have a team with an ecclectic group of young core guys who have 2 years of experience together, and possibly another lotto pick.

This would be a better time to make a move for a big name free agent or get a big name via trade because we will have put ourselves in a position to afford it and our team will be a young hungry team ready for the missing piece.

Do the right thing Dubs, breed us a championship team

Golden State Of Mind OK it happened. . . . .moving on

Ya, admit it guys we all had a man crush on Baron Davis. I bet all of you guys had memories of the Kirilenko dunk or the half court shot againt Dallas....hell maybe even the Boston game or the bank over Houston run through you head as you tried to grasp the feeling of Baron being gone next year. So, he's gone, but not to be forgotten. How can some of ur sit here and talk crap about Baron when provided us with so many great memories the past 3 years. Guys its time to sack up and pay Baron his respect!

Moving on.................

As a fan of not just the Warriors, but the NBA in general I am excited to see Baron on the Clips. I hope they start a LA rivalry with the Lakers and knock them out of next years playoffs. That would be pretty exciting! You guys all know you would be rooting for the Clips in that series.

Pertaing to the Dubs..................

The true leader of the Dubs is Captain Jack. It makes me sick to hear rumors of trading Jack to get rid of the chump change he is making (comparitevly speaking) for some garbage players.

We started 0-6 without this guy, hell half way through the season some of us would have given him the MVP award, and with a half way descent arguement to back it up. Think the 3 in LA, the 3 against the Wiz. The 7 3's against Dallas..........

Basically what Im saying is we still got the leadership of Jackson, we should have the skill and youth of Ellis an Beidrins, the ceilingless talents of B Wright and Anthony Randolph, role players that fulfill our needssuch as Hendrix, possibly Buike, Pietrus, and other FA's we decide to pick up and we have a Hall of Fame coach.

What does all that mean? Well it means our team is gonna be damn exciting to watch next year, and a definate sleeper in the West (a role we seem to play very well.) Ya we might not make the PO's next year, i personally think we wiil, but would not be shocked if we didnt, but we have also set ourselves up to be a successful franchise for years to come.

We have some of if not the best young talent in the league, a great fanbase, and the possibilty of being able to sign superstar players in the future to fit in with the core of young talent that we have. The W's front office is finally doing it right, not overspending on replacable players ( not saying Baron is replaceable), but making smart financial descisions, unlike Foyle, Fisher, Dunleavy, Murphy, thank god we are where we are all things considered. We are looking at a potentially limitless team, with a great veteran leader and a hall of fame coach in the great Western Conference. Next year is going to be very fun!

You guys know that Mully and Nellie both know there is no way we win the title next year, and have shown that by saying that they are committed to playing their youth. We could be major players in 2010 if we play our cards right, and we can also probably get a descent point guard in next years draft as well.

Cant wait to see Ellis at full time point, He definately stepped up his play this year and showed he is capable of making smart descisions with the ball.

Bold prediction Ellis 5 triple doubles this year

In a nutshell, next year will be exciting, get over Baron and give the man the respect he deserves, and thank god weve finally started making smart financial moves for our future!
