Chad Rinehart - OG - Free Agent Target
This guy was excellent this past season and as a restricted free agent it was expected he would get a high tender. Recent news is that he was given a 3rd round tender.
I don't know if we have the cap flexibility to beat out Buffalo with an offer, but they are highly invested in Levitrie already and have significant depth in the interior with Demetrius Bell, Eric Wood and Kraig Urbik. This could be a steal for us, as a 3rd round tender at the 32nd pick is really not that much to offer for a proven starter.
Additionally Kraig Urbik was given a 3rd round tender, he played center to replace an injured Eric Wood - but he is a Guard by choice.

Key Stat: Allowed zero sacks and only two hits this season, only one guard conceded less in as many games.
Setting up the run?
It always seems to me that opponents defenses set out to stop the run against the Giants. That is why i feel we struggle to run the ball on the first two or three drives of almost every game this season. Then once we get behind in the game, we let loose the passing attack and the running game starts up.
This could just be another way of saying i think we run better out of the shutgun formation.
Anyway, i have seen Green Bay line up their full back Kuhn in the slot out of the shotgun set, we should maybe try it with Hynoski - who seems to make a play every time he touches the ball. He is playing madden out on the field the way he uses that hitstick. *on another note, same with Bear Pascoe who has 2 successful hurdles this season.
Any thoughts on the overall pass vs run strategy to start the game?
Remember this is the playoffs! time to sell out & ball - Hakeem Nicks!
Scheming for Victory
I wanted to discuss some defensive strategies we can use to beat the JETS and for the remainder of the season.
The Jets offensive strengths are their offensive line, play action pass and Dustin Keller.
On the offensive line, Dbrick and Mangold are the anchors. JPP will have a difficult match-up going 1v1 with Dbrick and will likely be less of a factor than he has the past two games. **We should try standing our defensive ends up on 3rd and long, and having them stunt to try and confuse the o - line. I know JPP is best served blitzing the QB, but some zone blitzes where we have JPP backing out to cover a flat could keep sanchez confused and overload Wayne Hunter who is not very good against speed rush (i.e Von Miller). Kiwi could have a field day against Hunter.
The play action pass is the jets favorite play, often looking for the slant in the middle with the line backers committed or Dustin Keller dragging across the field. The way need to counter this is by consistently jamming Keller off the line. Jamming the tight end will enable our linebackers to man up with keller while not letting him get down field. From here we need to play the "Qb Spy" I assume Blackburn will be playing in the middle and we need him to do what he did against rodgers, play a zone, and pick the ball off from the underneath. A strategy here would be to have ARoss jam Plax off the line, the jets think plax will beat the jam on the slant, Blackburn comes underneath, pick 6.
Dustin Keller, the strategy with him, is to keep him on the line. He is not a great blocker, but is an excellent receiver and runs easy route's making him a favorite of Sanchez. Chipping the tight end is a great way of slowing down Keller, and will disallow Keller from getting the acceleration to separate from JQWILL.

Offensively, do what the eagles did - run outside the tackles. The Jets are too big with their front 3 to run in between the tackles, therefore i want to see pitches & sprints all game with constant hitson David Harris, whether its from Petrus, Hyno, Ballard or Pascoe.
I would also like to see a bit more 4 wide receiver sets this game then we have seen all year. A combo of Nicks-Cruz-Ham-Barden/JJ will keep the jets secondary on edge. With Jim Leonard out, running motions will keep that secondary huffing and puffing and hopefully some big plays will emerge.
GOTTA GET THAT W NO MATTER WHAT!
Dear Perry Fewell + Jerry Reese,
Deon Grant, Man has got to go. Being smart is an excellent trait on the field, but if he can't make a play he is worthless. Antrelle Rolle has been dubbed as over paid and a bust, but i give the man credit for constantly making plays on the ball. Deon Grant has terrible coverage skills because his change of direction speed is worse than some 300lb+ DLineman. Grant, is terrible in the run game, never beating blocks and has no aggression at the point of attack, and can't tackle a QB in open space.Taylor Sash + Prince + JWill should replace him on the field. Give Kiwi the freaken defensive calls and let's see some athletes on the field trying to make plays!
While i have your attention the Giants have many players that need to be addressed based on salary and production. I say goodbye to: Kareem Mckenzie, Chris Snee, David Diehl, Canty, Tollefson, Boley (he does not stay healthy and he is about to turn 30, never the best athlete), Corey Webster (turning 30, unless he takes a paycut), Antrel Rolle (See Corey Webster).
Guys we need to resign at a fair value: Manningham, Jake Ballard, Rocky Bernard, Jonathon Goff, Aaron Ross(depending on rolle and webster, and T2), T2, Justin Tryon,
We obviously have glaring wholes on the o-line and interior DL. Guys like Petrus, Booth, Cordle, James Brewer will
need to compete alongside Beatty, Baas and whoverer the giants add in FA & the draft. Marvin Austin and Linval
Johnson will need to be the anchors of our defense next year, with hopefully continued production out of Rocky
Bernard. This position must be addressed. Hopefully Chad Jones, T2, Prince, ARoss, Tryon, Rolle, Sash and
Phillips can be a position of strength for us next year. Hopefully our Linebackers and WR's continue to develop,
improve and stay healthy we have a lot of talent.
Next the coaching staff, Fewell needs to go. I have no coaching experience, but i know i can draw more fire out of players than this man, I also have a better sense of talent and usage (JPP coming from the DT position is such a waste). Jmccorpben@gmail.com for a d-coordinater job interview.
P.S Jacquaian or however ya spell it, the kid should not be coming off the field.
That said, we have a game to win against Green Bay.
Darren McFadden to the GMEN?
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NFL&id=4649&line=171794&spln=1
I think the raiders would do McFadden for our 2nd and 5th. McFadden would thrive behind a o-line that can actually get to the second level because of his ability to truck and dodge smaller tacklers.
I think McFadden would be as productive as spiller and would not require a 1st round pick and whatever other draft choices we would lose on the way to "spillah"
This also frees up our first round pick as we can trade back, stock some second rounders, or future draft picks.
