Scratch Fangio off DC list
Fangio has signed with Stanford to be the DC. If they are going to the 3-4 I thought he would have been a good candidate. It will be very interesting to see who they choose. If they do not realease a name this week we probably can assume the person is a coach for either the Saints or Colts. There is also a lot of speculation that the choice might come from the college ranks and they are waiting until after Wednesday which is the first day recruits can sign their letter of intent to the college of their choice. Here is the link about Fangio:

Here is the link with the story. Buddy did what a lot of us have been waiting for, maybe he might work out after all. A side note, Allen Wilson from the Buffalo News said we asked permission to speak with Mike Nolan from the Broncos, but he took the Dolphins job before we announced Gailey. Maybe a 3-4 is coming. Wilson also throws names out of who might be on the new staff.
Jim Bates as DC?
Just a hunch, but Bates was on Gailey's staff in Dallas as assistant coach/defensive line. They were also on the staff of the dolphins together, Gailey was the OC and Bates the DC. Bates usually runs the 4-3 and likes the smaller lbs, so it seems to be a fit. I remember when we were replacing Mularkey, a lot of people wanted Sherman as HC and figured Bates would come in as DC. Bates was the DC for Tampa this year before being fired by Morris in November.
My own Bills mock draft
This is my favorite time of year, draft time. So I thought I would throw my 2 cents in, even though I was not asked. Here goes it
Round 1 - TE - Pettigrew, this assumes Orakpo and Brown are gone
Round 2 - DE - Lawrence Sidbury, might be little early but they need help at end and he has both size and speed.
Round 3 - C - Caldwell, the best of who is left and can play all 3 inside positions
Round 4 - TE - Beckum, yes a 2nd tight end, but let Fine and Schouman fight for the 3rd spot and/or the fullback. Since Pettigrew can block we do not need 3 blocking TE and can use a down field threat
Round 5 - C - AQ Shipley, we need depth at Center
Round 6 - FB - Fiammetta, assuming they want to go with a FB
Round 7 - DT - Khalif Mitchell, depth and in case McCargo does not work out
Let me have it.
Bills D-Line coach Kollar going to the Texans
The Buffalo News and BuffaloBills.com are reporting that Buffalo Bills defensive line coach Bill Kollar will be assuming the same role for the Houston Texans. Since it is a lateral move the Bills allowed him to leave. Kollar was one of two coaches to interview for his new position; the other was former Lions head coach and current Bears defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.
I am not crushed by the departure as the Bills' defensive line has not over-achieved by any means, but what bugs me a little is this: if they are willing to let him go, why not get rid of him yourself earlier and maybe take a shot at Marinelli. Seems typical of Dick Jauron - reactive instead of proactive.
