As long as we are proposing trades... Phillies and Royals
As long as we are having a good time proposing trades as the trade deadline draws near, I believe that the Philadelphia Phillies and the Kansas City Royals are a perfect match. The Phillies have told teams that they are willing to deal anyone in their farm system except Dominic Brown and Jared Cosart. With all the trades the Phillies have made over the past two years, they still have a wealth of talent in the minors.
If the Royals are serious about building a second wave of talent then the Phillies match up perfectly. The Royals need to give up the pipe dream of competing for the division in 2012 and target several young prospects with a lot of potential in the Phillies organization.
The proposed deal:
Joakim Soria (CL)
Melky Cabrera (OF)
for
Jonathan Singleton (1B/OF)
Brody Colvin (RHP)
Trevor May (RHP)
Sebastian Valle (C)
Jiwan James (OF)

Who is the best under 25 1B in MLB?
Eric Hosmer has had a nice season thus far. However, Hosmer has a lot of company in the under 25 1B ranks. This poll doesn't include Jonathan Singleton and Yonder Alonso who may be pushed to the OF due to being blocked by the MLB team's 1B. So how does Hosmer rank among the young up and coming 1B in MLB?
Kevin Millwood Opts Out Of Contract
ESPN.com's Buster Olney confirms (via Twitter) that Millwood has opted out of his contract with the Yankees.
Whose potential Zack Greinke deal is better: Toronto or Texas?
There has been a lot of talk lately about the possibility of the Texas Rangers acquiring Zack Greinke if they are unable to retain Cliff Lee. However, the Toronto Blue Jays appear to making a strong push for Greinke as well. They recently traded Shaun Marcum to the Brewers in a deal that includes power hitting second base prospect Brett Lawrie. The Blue Jays now have a glutton of prospects in their minor league system and appear to be able to put together a strong package for Greinke. So the question is... Whose potential deal is better: Toronto or Texas?
Who is going to catch the football?
With Clausen most likely starting the rest of the games this season, who will he throw to? Were you at all excited about David Gettis' performance today? Is Dante Rosario going to turn into an all-pro tight end? Lafell, Jarrett, Edwards didn't even suit up today. Are we going to move Goodson to WR?
Royals not interested in top 5 prospect in all of baseball
11:23am: The Yankees dangled Jesus Montero in talks for Joakim Soria, reports ESPN's Jayson Stark, but the Royals weren't interested.
We should never get rid of Brian Bannister
Brian Bannister is one of few players in the majors that religiously follows statistics and digs into sabermetrics to assess his performance.
Wilson Betemit... My New Favorite Royal
Wilson Betemit has been raking of the bast month putting up 4 home runs 10 RBI and a .386 average over the last month. At 6'3" and 230 pounds he has good size to provide a little bit of power for the Royals. He also seems to be willing to do whatever Yost needs him to do.
David DeJesus Trade Speculation
There are several teams that have expressed interest in DeJesus. With the season DeJesus is having and the value he could provide to a team in contention, it seems likely that teams will be willing to part with a top prospect in order to get DeJesus. The teams currently rumored to be asking the Royals about DeJesus are Boston, San Francisco, San Diego and Atlanta. I wanted to take a look at their minor league systems to see who would be a possible return for DeJesus.
Should the Royals claim Jake Fox
The Athletics designated Jake Fox for assignment. The 28 year old has shown the ability to play multiple positions including: C/1B/3B/OF. He hit 11 home runs in 216 ABs last year in his rookie year. He hasn't hit much this year but his playing time has been sporadic. He would give the Royals another decent option at C/3B this year and hopefully give Kendall a few more days off.
MLB is in a good place
Whether or not the Royals are in the best place, I think Major League Baseball is in the best place it has been in years. I think the "Steroid Era" is officially coming to an end with the careers of Manny and A-Rod winding down and the influx of new talent into the league. I think this years rookie class is the best I have ever seen and could be the best of all time when all is said and done.
What position should Wil Myers play?
With the Royals linked to Yasmani Grandal in the upcoming MLB draft... Should the Royals move Myers to a different position?
Royals management can learn a lot from Leyland/Torre
The Royals management needs to learn how to handle the development of its young players especially when it comes to bringing them up to the major league level. It seems that Ned Yost understands this and hopefully will let the young kids play when they come up.
Kila Ka'aihue for Reid Brignac
This trade makes perfect sense for both organizations now and in the long term.
